EP 102: Riding a bike to a prison (Nola2Angola)

Informações:

Synopsis

In Episode 102, we talk with Rinna and Jesse about the Nola2Angola bike ride and fundraiser that aims to connect families to incarcerated loved ones. We talk about the way the bike ride provides an embodied form of activism that demonstrates the struggle families separated by prison experience; the specific atrocities committed at the Angola prison in Louisiana; the impact of family separation on anyone with detained family members (from ICE detention centers to jails to private prisons); and much more. Rinna and Jesse also join us for RWLs! Also, we kick off the episode with a Who's Ruining the Dinner Party on the Colin Kaepernick/Nike ads. (We still love you Colin, but we still really hate capitalism and Nike). *** Time stamps: 00:00-05:08 check-ins 05:09-13:50 Who's Ruining the Dinner Party 13:51-47:20 Interview with Nola2Angola rider and organizer 47:21-54:04 RWL *** Original music for FKJ PhD by Emily Jane Powers.
