  • Let's Talk /Mrs. Jackson is the first Black woman selected for the Supreme court

    26/03/2022 Duration: 01h22min

On February 25th, the White House confirmed that President Joe Biden is nominating Ketanji Brown Jackson  to the U.S. Supreme Court. Jackson, who currently serves as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and who the White House described as an "exceptionally qualified" nominee is poised to become the first Black woman to serve on the nation's highest court. Though Black women are underrepresented as judges in the nation's court system, Jackson's nomination marks the lastest milestone in the history of Black women lawyers that date back 150 years. For many, civil rights was a major motivation for practicing law. With this in mind, TIME asked historians what women paved the way for this moment? "For too long our government and our courts haven't looked like America," Biden said while introducing Jackson on Friday. "I believe it's time we have a court that reflects the full talents and greatness of our nation, with a nominee of extraordinary qualifications."

    19/03/2022 Duration: 01h14min

Thomas Jefferson once said that "the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." On February 24th, Russia attacked Ukraine. Shock rang throughout the Western world as we have watched the war escalate. Along with the war, numerous theories, stories, videos, and reactions spread like wildfire. Truth, fact, and fiction mixed together to send tongues wagging. The US and other countries responded by placing crushing sanctions on Russia, meant to deter and encourage peaceful resolution to the attack. It didn't. Some thought the war would be over in a weekend... but no one suspected the tenacity of the Ukrainian people or its leader, President Zelensky who fight the superpower. But along with this, has the ugly side of humanity shown its face -- journalistic biases, prejudice in the midst of warfare, and the most disturbing, the shadow of nuclear war, once attributed to a bygone era, now lingers on the horizon. We watch as the complexities of geopoli

One of the astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, has said that despite continued cooperation at the International Space Station, the war in Ukraine has thrown the space industry into turmoil. • Let's Talk About It with Jenny White/ Children and Loaded Guns Don't Mix!

    19/02/2022 Duration: 01h17min

American gun owners are still not getting the message that guns and children do not mix.In the last week, at least four children were injured by finding loaded guns - guns which legally should never have been left lying around where children were able to get them. Police in Utah where a 9 year-old was shot in the head after finding a grandparent's weapon reinforced that all guns in a home should be unloaded in a safe, and that guns and ammo must be stored separately. If you don't have a safe then you can get what's called a trigger lock that you buy when you buy the gun, they are cheap. Or most police departments, you can go to and get those trigger locks. they give them away for free.  One day a 5 year-old child was shot in the chest by a gun that was found unsecured under a bed inside a Detroit home, police said. Every day in America, kids get their hands on lethal weapons with disastrous consequences. This young man said he was going to watch cartoons. Instead, he opened his dad's gun safe. He reached u

  • Let's Talk About It/The Many Ways Love Can Make You Healthier

    05/02/2022 Duration: 01h12min

It's pretty hard to deny that being in love feels good. But did you know being in love is also good for you? It turns out that falling head over heels has quite a few tangible health benefits. Studies indicate that love impacts our mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing in unexpectated ways, and might even help us live longer. It's no surprise that having the support of someone who loves you makes it easier to cope with stressful situations. But it turns out that love itself can reduce stress on a chemical level. As you move out of the honeymoon phase with your partner, oxytocin, the bonding hormone, starts to settle in. This hormone which gives you the "warm and fuzzies" when you're cuddling, is a powerful stress reliever. Feeling loved can make you less anxious, but the effect is much stronger in stable, long-term relationships than it is in new romances. We're told that being in a loving relationship can heal us from within, but  did you know that it has the power to help us heal on the outside too?

    22/01/2022 Duration: 01h09min

Some of the most precious things in life are born from struggle.Nature constantly reminds us that sometimes it takes a breakdown to have a major breakthrough. While there is tremendous pain, suffering and uncertainty all around us, there also is an opportunity for change. Because when things go wrong, there is also a greater opportunity to turn things around for the better. Our difficult seasons can also be a chance for us to change direcctions and let go of what no longer serves us.  Cancer for instance, taught me that we can't always prevent a troubling event from happening, but we can ALWAYS control how we respond. While I would never have chosen the most painful parts of my journey, I am grateful for all my pain has taught me about myself. Trauma transforms us into different versions of ourselves.. Whether these changes are for better or worse is largely up to the choices we make. Look for the silver lining in the situation; get your feelings on paper; shift from anger to forgiveness, and give and get
