  • S3, Clerical Conversations, Ep16: College and Careers

    14/07/2018 Duration: 01h08min

Clerical Conversations finishes Season 3 by discussing college and careers: what are young people to do in their high school years as they prepare for life on their own. Bishop Daniel Dolan and Father Anthony Cekada share their many decades of pastoral experience and discuss the importance (or non-importance) of college, the folly of making money your primary object in choosing a career, the importance of being close to your parish and contributing, and perhaps most importantly, the fact that these paths are different for men than for women. We also discuss how relocation for the sacraments, finding a spouse, and your career and job/career might all be tied together. Join guest host Stephen Heiner as he discusses these topics with His Excellency, Bishop Daniel Dolan and Father Anthony Cekada of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio on this month's episode of Clerical Conversations on the Crisis. Original Air Date: November 23, 2014 Show Run Time: 1 hour 8 minutes Show Guest(s): Bish

  • S3, Clerical Conversations, Ep15: Militarism, The Military Culture, and Catholicism

    07/07/2018 Duration: 01h07min

This month on Clerical Conversations on the Crisis, we continue in a similar fashion with commentary which springboards off of last month's show to have a discussion about the military, what today's military culture is, and the Catholic response to it. How do our puppet masters use the military as the action arm to advance their agenda through endless war and why does it appeal to the young -- even traditional Catholics -- so much? Is it real patriotism or is it something else? We frame the discussion (once again) by examining the Social Kingship of Christ, and why before anything else, the Catholic faith must be the lens through which this topic can be studied. Father will lay out the principles of what a just war is, and will discuss why any of these modern wars cannot be viewed in any way as fulfilling the principles of a just war. We tie in the conversation with reflecting on St. Martin of Tours, who was conscripted into the Roman Army and later came to realize that his participation in the war with the

  • S3, Clerical Conversations, Ep14: The Militarized Police State, Empire Building & Civil Unrest

    03/07/2018 Duration: 01h58min

This month on Clerical Conversations on the Crisis, we return to the air after our summer break with a tour de force of solid Catholic commentary on many news stories which have arisen over the Summer of 2014 A.D. across the globe and also in the United States. We begin by dispelling the naturalist concept that has been force-fed down the throats of both Clergy and laity alike that the Clergy have no business commenting on politics, political affairs, or current events that do not touch directly on matters of the faith. All the topics covered in this episode, as His Lordship correctly points out, are topics that must be viewed from the perspective of the Social Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ in order to understand correctly the problems themselves and what we as Catholics are to think about them. The first order of business on this episode is discussing the principles of war, what constitutes a just war, and how modern warfare has morphed into something absolutely horrific. Why is it that the United Stat

  • S3, Clerical Conversations, Ep13: History, Propaganda, & Catholicism

    20/06/2018 Duration: 01h11min

This month on Clerical Conversations on the Crisis, taking as our starting point a recent article featured on the UK Telegraph, entitled "How a Protestant Spin Machine Hid the Truth about the English Reformation," we will discuss the Protestant Revolt in England and the parallels to be drawn with our own time.. From here we will move to discuss the effect of propaganda, and look at the propaganda of the modern state and Novus Ordo sect. How are traditional Catholics effected by this? What can we do to mitigate the effects of this incessant propaganda on ourselves? Join us as His Lordship, Bishop Daniel Dolan and host Nicholas Wansbutter discuss these and other topics on this month’s episode of Clerical Conversations on the Crisis. • S3, Clerical Conversations, Ep12: Relocation, Survivalism, and the End of the World

    13/06/2018 Duration: 01h06min

On this month's episode of Clerical Conversations on the Crisis, we will tackle several topics of recurring interest to traditional Catholics. Following up on the January Flagships show, we will discuss the pros and cons of relocation for the sacraments from a clerical perspective. Is it a moral imperative to move to be closer to the sacraments? Can one settle for attendance at an S.S.P.X. Mass if that is nearby? We will also discuss the oft-floated idea of creating a traditional Catholic village. We will then move on to discussing survivalism, dire predictions of an impending economic crash, the end of the world, and the "Three Days of Darkness". What is the proper Catholic attitude to each of these things and how does one appropriately deal with them in one's everyday life? Join us as His Lordship, Bishop Daniel Dolan and Father Anthony Cekada of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio chat with host Nicholas Wansbutter on this month's episode of Clerical Conversations on the Crisis.

  • S3, Clerical Conversations, Ep11: Annulments and the Catholic Order of the Household

    06/06/2018 Duration: 01h13min

On this month's episode of Clerical Conversations on the Crisis, we will tackle two topics that are both timely and topical. As time marches on and annulments have become almost as widespread as a pandemic, how are Catholics today to understand Novus Ordo annulments and deal with them in their daily lives amongst family & friends? What are the effects on children and how should that be dealt with? How are we as Catholics to deal with those who are in invalid marriages. What are those who are converts or who come to traditional Catholicism late in life to do about the situation of being in an invalid marriage? We will discuss what exactly an annulment is, why one would be issued, and what the general landscape looked like pre-Vatican II with regards to annulments. We will then move on to discussing the Catholic household, and in particular, instilling a Catholic order to that household. What is the hierarchy of the household, and what are the complimentary differences between men and women? How has this been

  • S3, Clerical Conversations, Ep10: Sports Build Character? (Part 2)

    30/05/2018 Duration: 01h07min

On this month's episode of Clerical Conversations on the Crisis, we will bring a second installment of last month's show theme Sports Build Character? Part 1. His Excellency and Father will respond to several question themes given to us by listeners, and then will continue to expound on their thoughts from last month's show. They will dig deeper into the modern understanding of sport and its place in today's society, and they also will examine forensically the fundamental problems with the Olympic Games. What relationship can Catholics have with sports in general, as well as active or passive participants? Why should we engage in sport to aid our physical well-being? What about children and organized sports? We will also dispel the internet rumors on St. Pius X's view of the olympic games, and finally why the proper understanding of the necessity of balance is so important. Join us as His Excellency, Bishop Daniel Dolan and Father Anthony Cekada of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohi

  • S3, Clerical Conversations, Ep9: Sports Build Character? (Part 1)

    23/05/2018 Duration: 01h19min

Restoration Radio presents its own version of a "Super Bowl Sunday" special: "Sports Build Character? Part 1." We have all heard this, but is it so, or is there more to it? In today's modern world, sports has been placed on a lofty pedestal of central importance in the lives of modern men. TV, radio, and internet provide 24/7 wall-to-wall coverage of everything imaginable related to sports and atheletes. Children idolize athletes and aspire from a young age to play sports, well into their adult years. Many view it as a way towards success in life. What is the Catholic view of sport, what is its place in our lives, and how are we as Catholics to view a society which is saturated in sports? Has sport taken on a religious context of its own, and are there religious parallels with what modern sports have become? Join us as host Stephen Heiner discusses this looming giant of a topic with His Excellency, Bishop Daniel Dolan and Father Anthony Cekada of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in Westchester, Ohio.

  • S3, Clerical Conversations, Ep8: Right vs. Left Politics, Abortion & the Media Age

    16/05/2018 Duration: 01h36min

Kicking off Season 3 of Restoration Radio's Clerical Conversations on the Crisis, we are restructuring the show back to its original intent - to discuss modern issues facing Catholics across a broad spectrum of topics. On this episode, we will break the show into three parts: (A) Right vs. Left Politics: we will discuss the philosophy behind this, and why it simply is a distraction from real issues. (B) Abortion: what is the appropriate social action for traditional Catholics regarding abortion? (C) Current Events in a Media Age: The pull, the buzz & the lies. Join us as H.E., Bishop Daniel Dolan, pastor of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in Westchester, Ohio, and Father Anthony Cekada discuss these topics with host Justin Soeder. • Pastoralia, Episode 10: Dating and Courtship

    09/05/2018 Duration: 01h19min

In this episode of Pastoralia, we take a few steps backward from our look at Catholic child rearing to discuss the Catholic ideal of courtship. Blind and infatuated worldlings date in order to date, with perhaps only the remotest thought to the permanence of marriage. Why, then, does a Catholic not merely date for the sake of dating? We begin our episode with a look at the purposes of courtship, which extend well beyond compatibility testing. Next we speak about the spiritual aspect of courtship and, for all the good which may come out of it, the necessary near occasions of sin it requires. How is a Catholic to court virtuously? Before moving any further, armed with the knowledge of the purposes of courtship, Father discusses who is — and who isn't — someone to pursue in a courtship. Avoiding stock answers, we look at not only the most basic requirements, without which a marriage would lack a common foundation, but, beyond the necessities and although not strictly required, how compatibility between two po

  • Pastoralia, Episode 9: Catholic Parenting (Part 2)

    02/05/2018 Duration: 01h37min

On this season's inaugural episode of "Pastoralia," we pick up where we left off last season, in the second of two episodes devoted to understanding Catholic parenting and child rearing. My, how these children have grown in just a few months! Diapers and strollers have given way to increasingly independent pre-teens and teenagers. It is on these older children that we focus in this episode, again steadying ourselves on perennial Catholic thinking, rather than the absurd and dangerous maxims of the world. We begin our discussion with the Fourth Commandment, which requires us to honor our parents, not merely to obey them. Should a child need to be corrected, we address how to reprove a child without cultivating an unhealthy fear of his parents, while keeping in mind the words of St. Paul, "Fathers, provoke not your children to indignation, lest they be discouraged" (Col. 3:21). Our conversation continues as we explore how to cultivate independence in our children, teaching them how to make their own wise dec

  • Pastoralia, Episode 8: Catholic Parenting (Part 1)

    25/04/2018 Duration: 02h09min

On this month's episode of Pastoralia, we take on a perennial topic in part 1 of a 2 part discussion: the Catholic understanding of parenting and the raising of children. This is a topic which is obscured and largely influenced by a cacophony of noise from modern pop psychology and pseudo-intellectual modern parenting books. We begin the conversation with a discussion of the child-rearing theories of the modern world and the inherent problems with them. Father will compare those to the Catholic principles of child-rearing and why the Catholic building blocks of child raising and why these principles provide children with the best possible chance of retaining the Catholic faith, saving their souls, and being productive members of society. We will talk about the issues surrounding the nursing of children, what is appropriate and what is not, the norms of modesty as it relates to nursing, and when the nursing should end. The subjects of children sharing bedrooms, disciplining the children and corporal punish

  • Pastoralia, Episode 7: Extreme Unction and Last Rites

    18/04/2018 Duration: 01h26min

On this month's episode of Pastoralia, we tackle a subject that is somewhat confusing to the laity and accompanies with it some degree of fear: Extreme Unction and Last Rites. We will begin by having a deep discussion of what exactly this Sacrament is, what it is not, and understanding the difference between Extreme Unction and the Last Rites. After we examine the nature of the Sacrament, then we will shift into what the necessity of it is, when a Catholic may ask for it, and what the requirements for requesting it encompass. Father will guide us through sick calls, proper etiquette and disposition during a "routine" sick call versus an emergency call where death is imminent. Father will also discuss how to discern when it is appropriate to call a priest, dispel many myths that people usually have regarding this Sacrament and how frustrating it is for a Priest to have an individual or a family "hold back" and wait too long before calling and potentially risking the soul of the sick person who is in genuine

  • Pastoralia, Episode 6: Confession

    11/04/2018 Duration: 01h31min

On this month's episode of Pastoralia, we return to talk about the Sacrament of Confession. While we may consider this topic to be understood by most practicing Catholics, there is never enough discussion both on the fruits of the Sacrament, but also on the various orbital topics that go along with it. Before we begin the topic itself, we begin the program by first making a slight detour per listener requests about "what to do now?" So you have been studying, you've come to the realization that you can have nothing to do with the heretics and apostates who occupy the Vatican and the diocesan sees across the world, but are confused as to what your obligations are from this point forward. We will let Father discuss this topic which is a very real one that all of us at one time faced. Then we will move right into the discussion on Confession. We begin talking about the obligations a Catholic has to fulfill in order to make a good confession and how parents must be the prime force in their child's life in not

  • Pastoralia, Episode 5: My Body is a Temple

    04/04/2018 Duration: 01h18min

On this month's episode of Pastoralia, we are going to tackle some topics in the practical order which have probably touched all of us at one time or another. We will be talking about the many things that relate to the body and its external appearances. We will discuss such things as tattoos, piercings, jewelry, plastic surgery, going to the gym, yoga, massages, and other such things. What is the Catholic reaction to these actions and activities that are so prevalent in the modern society in which we find ourselves? Join us as guest host Justin Soeder is joined as usual by show guest, Father Stephen McKenna, as they discuss these topics on this month's episode of Pastoralia. • Pastoralia, Episode 4: How to Live and Work with Non-Catholics

    28/03/2018 Duration: 01h49min

On this episode of Pastoralia, we're going to take on the difficult subject of how to live, work, and get along with people who don't just differ in belief from us, but may be actively working against Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Church. We will cover: practicing homosexuals, people living in sin, people who are divorced or remarried, people with annulments from SSPX or the Novus Ordo, single mothers, etc. Can we have these people over for dinner? What if they are family? What happens at company picnics? We'll also tackle the difficult non-Catholic weddings/funerals quandary. You need general principles in order to make these tough decisions. We'll give them to you. Finally, we'll answer some questions from our last episode pertaining to work on Sunday and Reserved Sins during a time of interregnum. Join Stephen Heiner and Fr. Stephen McKenna as they discuss these important and extremely relevant issues. Original Air Date: April 4, 2014 Show Run Time: 1 hour 53 minutes Show Guest(s): Father Stephen

    21/03/2018 Duration: 01h59min

On this month's episode of Pastoralia we will be discussing several topics that face Catholics at some point in time in their lives. We will be starting with Godparenting - how many "children" should I have, who's qualified, can I ask a priest, what are the qualifications, etc. We will move into the clerical dress topic of clericals vs. cassocks - is Father a modernist for wearing clericals? We will then talk Sundays - so what "can" we do on Sundays? More importantly, what should we be doing to make the day holy? Just in time for lent, we will broach the topic of general Confession and all the particulars behind this important and necessary spiritual practice. Closing out the show, we will touch on the topic of head covering for ladies. What about veils vs. mantillas vs. napkins vs. hats - Is this a matter of taste or of church law? Join us on this episode of Pastoralia as Fr. Stephen McKenna and Stephen Heiner discuss these issues and provide further clarity to questions that never seem to get asked. Or

We will be discussing a wide variety of topics that at one time or another, we have all wondered to ourselves what we should be doing, such as: When should one arrive and leave for Holy Mass? What should I be wearing for Sunday Mass versus a weekday Mass? If the baby is crying, what do I do? Should there be a crying room or not? Is there a "cell phone etiquette" at Mass? Is there a "best" way to follow the Mass? Am I required to read the Mass out of the Missal? Can I pray the rosary during Mass? These and many more questions will be addressed on this month's episode. • Work of Human Hands, Episode 7: Introductory Rites - The Meet and Greet

    28/02/2018 Duration: 01h30min

On this month's episode of Work of Human Hands, we will now transition from laying the groundwork of the New Mass by the revisers into looking forensically at the changes themselves. We begin with the Introductory Rites, and it does not take more than the sign of the cross to begin seeing the radical makeover, the prayers stripped, and the theology revolutionarily changed in the mass of Paul VI. We will begin by discussing the Novus Ordo "meet and greet" theology where we revisit the man-centered horizontal dimension of the Novus Ordo, and give typical examples of how this is employed before and during the new Mass. The incessant chatter which is a hallmark of the typical Novus Ordo where those gathered in the Novus Ordo temple spend obscene amounts of time talking before the service begins is discussed and we will point the listener to exactly why this is; It is not by accident that this feature of the Novus Ordo is ubiquitous to everyone's experience. Father will talk about the Asperges in the Novus Ordo
