  • Work of Human Hands, Episode 6: Ready for Assembly

    25/02/2018 Duration: 01h28min

On this month's episode of Work of Human Hands, we will be discussing the results of the groundwork that was laid out in last episode, where we discussed the idea of theological makeover of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass as an assembly. With all the groundwork in place to radically re-make the liturgy, now we focus on what those re-made aspects resulted in as it relates to the externals of both the Rite of Paul VI itself, as well as the externals of art, architecture, and furnishings in the sanctuary. Have you ever walked into a Novus Ordo church and felt like you had walked into an abandoned airplane hangar? Ever had any trouble finding the tabernacle? How about stained glass windows depicting nothing? Was it missing statuary, stations of the cross, and a sanctuary lamp? These results were not the actions of "rogue bishops" as we often are told, but were specific instructions in both Sacrosanctum Concilium, the instruction Inter Oecumenici, and specific directives from the Bishops' Councils; who were becomi

  • Work of Human Hands, Episode 5: The Cleverness of the Revisers

    14/02/2018 Duration: 01h20min

On this month's episode of Work of Human Hands, we will be discussing in great detailThe Ottaviani Intervention, it's background, principal objections, effects, and key figures. Anyone familiar with the fight for Tradition will know well the name Alfredo Cardinal Ottaviani, but might not be quite familiar with his earth-shaking criticisms of the New Mass of Paul VI. When we study these writings, we see clearly that His Eminence attacked the New Mass on the level of doctrine and morals, not aesthetics and preference. We will go through one-by-one his objections and the reaction of Paul VI to them which gives one a very revealing look into Paul VI's mind on both the Council and the New Mass itself. Additionally, we will cover the topic of the revised Forward to the General Instruction of the Roman Missal which did its best to try to wash away the Protestant/Modernist essence contained in the first edition, but in doing so, proved that it was nothing more than a dirty hatchet job on true Catholic theology of t

  • Work of Human Hands, Episode 4: The Mass As An Assembly

    07/02/2018 Duration: 01h29min

On this episode of Work of Human Hands, we dive into the "nuts and bolts" of the fundamental theological changes in the Novus Ordo Mass from the Traditional Latin Mass. We talk about the very foundation that was laid which has caused most of us to experience the abominations that we have had to endure at one point or another. We will cover the topics of Boyer's idea of the Mass as an "assembly" of the people of God, the destruction of the fundamental understanding of the Real Presence, the entire concept of the Priest-Presider of the assembly at the Lord's Supper instead of a Priest offering a propitiatory sacrifice to God the Father in the re-presentation the sacrifice of calvary. We will cover the notion of the "people of God" offering the Mass and not the Priest himself being the one and only person who can offer the Sacrifice of the Mass to God. We will also cover the destruction of the vertical dimension of the mass, and reducing it to the horizontalism which is so prevalent in the Novus Ordo. Finally,

  • Work of Human Hands, Episode 3: Latin to the Vernacular - Lost in Translation

    31/01/2018 Duration: 01h02min

On this month's episode of Work of Human Hands, we will be continuing on to Chapter 4, which discusses what exactly was lost in the translation from the Latin to the Vernacular, and that these changes are no small matter. We will discuss the dangerous and ambiguous wording of Vatican II's document on the Sacred Liturgy (Sacrosanctum Concilium) which has allowed the novelties which are realized today. Further, we will discuss why, for 1600 years, Latin was absolutely preserved as the language of the Church and why Latin is so necessary for doctrinal integrity and orthodoxy. We will answer that age-old question for newcomers to Tradition about why the necessity of Latin in the Liturgy is so essential. We will move on to the Instruction Comme le Prévoit of 25 January 1969 and how it was the concrete foundation upon which all the distortions, omissions, and outright errors in Novus Ordo liturgy rests. Join us as author Fr. Anthony Cekada and host Justin Soeder discuss these and other topics on this chapter in

  • Work of Human Hands, Episode 2: The Creation of the New Mass

    24/01/2018 Duration: 02h07min

On this episode of Work of Human Hands, we will springboard from chapters 1 and 2 into chapter 3, which discusses the background and the cast of characters involved in the creation of the "New Mass." We will once again revisit the usual cast of characters: Jungmann, Boyer, and the biggest sinister name in the entire process, that of Archbishop Annibale Bugnini, a freemason and the architect of the destruction of the Roman Rite. We will tie in the building blocks of the experimental Easter Vigil of 1951, Jungmann's "heart's dream" of the reform of the mass, the 1955 Holy Week changes, simplification of rubrics, the 1958 Instructions on Sacred Music, the 1960 Code of Rubrics of John XXIII, the 1963 Vatican II document Sacrosanctum Concilium and the fateful paragraph 50, by which almost any change to the liturgy could be justified. Join us as author Fr. Anthony Cekada, and host Justin Soeder walk through the background to the destruction of the Tridentine Mass and the introduction of the Novus Ordo in 1969. S

  • Work of Human Hands, Episode 1: Old Mass or New Mass - What's the Fuss About?

    18/01/2018 Duration: 01h40min

Another in a series of new shows for Season 3 is Work of Human Hands, sponsored by Roman Catholic Archive, (http://www.romancatholicarchive.com/) a publisher of the beautiful Pre-1955 Altar Missal. Episode 1 of Work of Human Hands will start with Chapters 1 and 2 of the book, Work of Human Hands. (http://sggresources.org/products/work-of-human-hands-by-rev-anthony-cekada) In this show, we will discuss the genesis of every traditional Catholic's journey to tradition - the Mass itself. Is the question of the "new" vs. the "old" mass an important one to study? If one wishes to find Roman Catholicism, the answer is a resounding yes. In this episode, we will discuss the principle thesis of the book, that the "new mass" of Paul VI destroys Catholic doctrine in the minds of the faithful. We will also discuss the assertion of the book that the mass of Paul VI represents a rupture with the continuous liturgical tradition preceding it. We will allow Father to explain the general movement to reform the liturgy, which

  • Work of Human Hands, Episode 0: Introduction

    10/01/2018 Duration: 32min

In 2010, Father Anthony Cekada released his blockbuster masterwork Work of Human Hands: A Theological Critique of the Mass of Paul VI. Since that time, the work has been reviewed the world over and has received critical acclaim from the Catholic world as the definitive work explaining, in a methodical study, the theological break from Catholicism that is expressed in the rite of Paul VI. Father's erudition, clarity of expression, and facile wit has attracted readers of all ages to further understand this keystone topic in the history of the decline of the Catholic Church following Vatican II. This 0 episode will be a conversation between Fr. Cekada and host, Justin Soeder, introducing this new show for season III, which will be a once-a-month show in which Father and Justin discuss the book. We will proceed chapter-by-chapter, and allow Father to summarize and explain deeper to the listener his thoughts on the book. We hope this show will appeal to seasoned traditional Catholics, as well as those who are ju

We conclude with sermons reflecting on two focal points of the month of November: time and death. These two sermons are a font of material for meditation and reflection on these devastating subjects that we all must keep in the forefront of our minds, not just in the month of November. We close the season as we opened it, with these sermons being delivered by His Excellency, Bishop Donald Sanborn, rector of Most Holy Trinity Seminary in Brooksville, Florida. • S2, From the Pulpit, Ep14: Have Confidence in God

    27/09/2017 Duration: 39min

Original Air Date: November 21, 2013 On this episode of From the Pulpit, we will be reminded to have confidence in God. Let's face it: it happens. We grow tired, we get worn down, we get tired and at times, it can seem like we are losing the battle. This is what is commonly called "battle fatigue" in war, and it is a common thing to befall Catholics who are trying to uphold, practice, defend, and spread the unchanged Catholic faith. Too often we feel as if we did not express our thoughts correctly to non-Catholics, or that we got trapped by our anti-Catholic acquaintances and lost the argument, or even worse to us, did not have an answer. In these times, we must have a rock solid trust and confidence in God, through Whom all things are possible. Today, we welcome Father Stephen McKenna to From the Pulpit. Father will explain to us how to keep our confidence in God in these trying times, and why we should not be discouraged at our shortcomings. • S2, Devotions with Bishop Dolan, Ep7: Relics

    25/09/2017 Duration: 01h15min

Original Air Date: November 23, 2013 On this episode of Devotions with Bishop Dolan, too often we have heard the Protestant objections to the veneration of relics as something morbid and macabre, but can we defend their usage and meaning to those who object? Do we understand ourselves as Catholics why the Church uses and classifies relics? In the finale of Devotions with Bishop Dolan, we discuss holy relics: their history, their meaning, their role in the Catholic Church and their use amongst the laity. What is a relic? What are the proper ways to venerate a relic? How does one go about obtaining a relic? Why are relics on the altars during mass? In this episode of Devotions with Bishop Dolan, we will discuss these and many more aspects of the subject of devotions to relics and why the "saints amongst us" provide a proper context to the Catholic spiritual life. Join us as His Excellency, Bishop Daniel Dolan, pastor of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio and host Justin Soeder close

  • S2, From the Pulpit, Ep13: The Evil of Venial Sin

    23/09/2017 Duration: 35min

Original Air Date: November 17, 2013 On this episode of From the Pulpit, how often do we think of the venial sins we commit and meditate upon how even the smallest of sin offends Almighty God beyond our ability to comprehend? Are we the type of Catholic that falls into the trap and the common condition to believe that as long as we are not committing mortal sin, that we are doing just fine? Are we truly striving for Heaven, or are we simply content with trying to "make it" to purgatory? Do we use the sacrament of penance fervently and devoutly, examining our consciences and doing our best to make a good confession so as to allow the floodgates of grace to shower upon our souls the great gift of absolution so that we may advance in the spiritual life and in the love of God, or are we making lukewarm, tepid, or worse yet - bad confessions? On this week's episode of From the Pulpit, we welcome Father Charles McGuire, assistant pastor of St. Hugh of Lincoln Catholic Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as he speaks

  • S2, Flagship Show, Ep30: Ordinations and the Priesthood

    20/09/2017 Duration: 01h49min

Original Air Date: November 8, 2013 On a special edition of the Flagship Show, we present a live show recorded on November 6, 2013 at Most Holy Trinity Seminary in Brooksville, Florida on the occasion of the ordination to the priesthood of Father Bede Nkamuke. Stephen Heiner sat down with Father(s) Oscar Saavedra, Daniel Ahern, Stephen McKenna, and Charles McGuire to discuss the significance of a priestly ordination and to reflect on their own ordinations. In a rarely heard perspective on what it is like to go through an ordination and all the steps leading to that momentous occasion, this casual conversation with the Fathers shows the listener what exactly is going through an ordinand's mind as he approaches his ordination. Everything from lack of sleep the night before, to good natured humor about nearly falling asleep while prostrate before the tabernacle during the Litany of the Saints. Join us as the Fathers give host Stephen Heiner a first hand "insider's perspective" on the steps to the priesthood,

  • S2, From the Pulpit, Ep11: The Holy Rosary and All Saints

    18/09/2017 Duration: 52min

Original Air Date: October 31, 2013 On this episode of From the Pulpit, we continue with our October themed selection of shows on the Holy Rosary. As we round out October, the month of the Holy Rosary, and move into November, we must keep in mind the reflections we have had this month on the Holy Rosary. On From the Pulpit, we have tried to provide spiritual boosters in the form of sermons to give food for thought and reflection for meditation on the Holy Rosary. On tonight's broadcast, we welcome back Bishop Donald Sanborn, rector of Most Holy Trinity Seminary in Brooksville, Florida who will give us a final sermon on the Holy Rosary and finish up with a sermon on the Feast of All Saints Day. His Excellency will, in his usual style, deliver these sermons in an easy-to-understand manner and urge us to exchange "present afflictions for future glory." The Feast of All Saints Day is a call to action as much as it is a reminder of the Church triumphant who have gone before us. Original Air Date: October 31, 2

  • S2, From the Pulpit, Ep10: How to Pray the Rosary Well

    16/09/2017 Duration: 56min

Original Air Date: October 24, 2013 On this episode of From the Pulpit, the subject of the Holy Rosary may seem like a topic which Catholics think they know enough about, and it is a topic which they have probably had no shortage of Catechesis upon, but is it any coincidence that most Catholics admit to having trouble either praying the Rosary consistently, or praying it well? Why is this, if indeed, the Rosary is so "thoroughly understood?" The truth is that we must augment our spiritual lives with continual reminders and spiritual meditations upon our faith, and particularly the Rosary. As we wind down the month of October, the month of the Holy Rosary, this conference is timely. On tonight's episode of From the Pulpit, we welcome back Fr. Kevin Vaillancourt, who will give a spiritual conference on the importance of the Rosary and how to pray it well. In the second part of our program, Father will deliver a sermon on Mary and the interior life. We hope that this presentation of two Marian sermons will ai

  • S2, Devotions with Bishop Dolan, Ep6: The Holy Rosary

    13/09/2017 Duration: 01h24min

Original Air Date: October 19, 2013 On this episode of Devotions with Bishop Dolan, we will discuss probably the most popular devotion practiced amongst Catholics today: The Holy Rosary. Without a doubt the most well-known devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, it is yet impossible to have enough love for and to focus enough attention on this most powerful weapon given to the faithful from on High to grow in love of God, fight off the temptations of the devil, conquer personal sin and perservere in the Catholic faith than the Holy Rosary. The Rosary and it's beads can be seen as a chain which links the faithful on earth both physically and spiritually to Heaven. Saints have said it that the faithful recitation of the rosary is a great sign of predestination, and sinners have used it for centuries to overcome the evil of habitual sin in their lives. The history of the Catholic Church is full of miraculous events surrounding the Holy Rosary, and many plentiful conversions of souls to the Church. We could spen

  • S2, From the Pulpit, Ep9: Life is Short, Eternity is Long

    11/09/2017 Duration: 49min

Original Air Date: October 10, 2013 On this episode of From the Pulpit, we are going to meditate on life versus eternity. How often do we moderns think of death and eternity? Dare we ask, how often do Catholics think of death and eternity? As we live in a modern world and Western culture which does all it can to whitewash away death and eradicate the idea of eternity, we are in constant need to be reminded that we are pilgrims on this earth for what seems to us a long time, but in reality, is a very short sojourn before we must meet our Lord face-to-face for our judgment. Tonight, we will hear a sermon on life and eternity, as well as a fiery confirmation sermon on the gifts of the Holy Ghost and an adherence to the true religion that His Excellency gave almost a decade ago in 2004. We consider these two sermons to be amongst the most powerful His Excellency has ever given. Join us as His Excellency, Bishop Richard Williamson, delivers two hard-hitting and down-to-earth sermons in his usual fashion from s

  • S2, Flagship Show, Ep29: Malachi Martin

    08/09/2017 Duration: 01h48min

Original Air Date: October 5, 2013 On this episode of the Flagship Show, we will discuss another icon in traditional Catholic lore: Malachi Martin. Malachi Brendan Martin, S.J. (1921-1999): one of the most endearing yet controversial figures in the traditional Catholic world. Roman Catholic Jesuit priest, Vatican insider, exorcist, professor, curial advisor, author, public speaker and giant personality - Martin was a character whose presence seemed to be always in the know, yet his history is mired by hearsay, rumor and allegation. Are those rumors true? What are we to make of this man? The author of many books on the crisis in the Catholic Church following the Second Vatican Council, Martin's books have been instrumental in at least some way of shaping the "Church-view" in the minds of traditional Catholics. Just who was Malachi Martin? What is his legacy as a Priest and man who bridged the gap of time between pre and post Vatican II? What was his motivation to be such an outspoken critic of the Novus Or

  • S2, From the Pulpit, Ep8: The Catholic Church is the One True Church

    03/09/2017 Duration: 58min

Original Air Date: October 3, 2013 On this episode of From the Pulpit, we will hear a conference laying out clearly what the Catholic Church is: the One True Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. No doubt that this phrase is not uttered nearly enough in today's world by those who proclaim to be Roman Catholic. It's a phrase that since the disaster of Vatican II, has been mothballed for the idea that all "believing Christians" are members of the "Church of Christ." Are we as Catholics able to explain exactly why the Catholic Church is indeed the one true Church, Divinely instituted by Our Lord Jesus Christ? If we are not able to definitively explain this to our non-Catholic counterparts, then we can explain nothing as to why the truths of the faith must be held for salvation. We will also hear a timely sermon, as we begin the month of October - The month of the Holy Rosary - on why it is so important that we keep our daily devotion to the Mother of God through Her gift to us of the Holy Rosary. Join us as His E

  • S2, From the Pulpit, Ep7: Why Can’t We All Just Get Along?

    20/07/2017 Duration: 51min

Original Air Date: September 26, 2013 On this episode of From the Pulpit, we pull our title from that famous statement of Rodney King: "Why can't we all just get along?" A tendency that many in the traditional Catholic world have today is to try to reconcile the many differences in those who attend the Latin Mass at the various trad outposts -- the diocesan indult (The "Motu Mass"), the SSPX, the FSSP, Sedevacantists, and Independents -- as really being no different and wondering why we all just can't see eye-to-eye. While the faith is certainly and unarguable at the core of us all, there are valid and legitimate differences on very important issues that separate us; namely - doctrine. This is no small matter and it bears listening to a very concise sermon on why things are how they are and why doctrine cannot be sacrificed for the sake of "getting along." Yes, let us all agree, but let us agree on doctrine first! Join us as Father Anthony Cekada lays out in an intelligent, charitable, and yet non-compro
