    31/03/2017 Duration: 01h07min

Original Air Date: April 18, 2013 In this inaugural episode of The Beautiful Things we consider various perspectives on the arts. Topics of discussion range from Kant to Aquinas, and attempt to address the question of how Catholics should, or shouldn't, view art. Magdalene Zapp is a life-long writer, a retired painting student in the Dutch Masters tradition, and a former musician dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of the traditional arts. Her guest, Stephen Heiner, recently achieved his long-term goal of visiting the Vatican Museums, the Louvre, the Prado, and the Uffizi. • S2, Clerical Conversations, Ep1: "The Nine," 30 Years On...

    23/03/2017 Duration: 01h55min

Original Air Date: March 13, 2013 This month, we introduce a new show to the Restoration Radio Network: Clerical Conversations on the Crisis. This show will be devoted to various topics that deal with not only the issues faced by both clergy and laity during this crisis of the modernist heresy, but also timely topics that need clerical clarity to inform and instruct Catholics. The inaugural broadcast of this new show will discuss the story of the "Nine," a group of priests of the Society of St. Pius X that were expelled from the priestly fraternity in 1983. Time has obscured the reasons for their expulsion, which contrary to popular explanations, had nothing to do with sedevacantism. The reasons had everything to do with the internal policies of the Society and their failure (then, as now) to have a coherent and consistent approach to Vatican II, the new Sacraments, the new Mass, and the Pope and Magisterium. Our guests for this show include His Excellency, Bishop Daniel Dolan, His Excellency, Bishop Don

  • S2, Flagship Show, Ep21: St. Thomas Aquinas

    21/03/2017 Duration: 01h18min

Original Air Date: March 2, 2013 On this episode of the Flagship Show, we will discuss St. Thomas Aquinas – scholar and saint. While St. Thomas Aquinas has remained a highly controversial figure in the Church's intellectual battles ever since he died, and is a shibboleth, almost, in terms of discovering neo-modermists before Vatican II, it is sometimes forgotten that as well as being the Universal Doctor of the Church he is also its Angelic Doctor, and a great saint and mystic – indeed shortly before he died he abandoned work on his Summa, because he felt that the spiritual revelations that had been given to him made his intellectual work into so much "straw." In this show we are very pleased to welcome back His Excellency, Bishop Daniel Dolan of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio to discuss St. Thomas the man and saint, and to try to get a fuller picture of the man in the context of his times, and his deeply felt spirituality. • S2, Flagship Show, Ep20: The Legacy of Benedict XVI (Part 2)

    17/03/2017 Duration: 02h19s

Original Air Date: February 27, 2013 On this episode of the Flagship Show, we will conclude our discussion of Benedict XVI with the second part of this series on the legacy of Benedict XVI. Ratzinger as Benedict XVI from 2005-2013 Following his April 2005 election after the death of John Paul II, it was widely predicted that there would be stark differences between Benedict and John Paul II. Many had forecast that the "reform-of-the-reform" had begun with "God's Rottweiler" at the helm. Most pundits had foreseen Benedict ratcheting back on the Vatican II changes, the liturgical absurdities, and preparing a place of welcome for disaffected traditional Catholics who wanted the Traditional Latin Mass. Now that we have the final chapter closed on Benedict's time in Rome, what really can be said about the years 2005-2013? Our guests will be Bishop Donald Sanborn, rector of Most Holy Trinity Seminary in Brooksville, Florida and Fr. Anthony Cekada of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio.

  • S2, Flagship Show, Ep19: The Legacy of Benedict XVI (Part 1)

    15/03/2017 Duration: 02h44s

Part 1 of 2 - Original Air Date: February 20, 2013 On this episode of the Flagship Show, we are pleased to begin a 2-part series on the legacy of Benedict XVI. This first of two shows will focus on the years 1960-2005. Ratzinger: Theologian and Cardinal (1950–2005) His theological training by professors who advocated the modernist "New Theology" condemned by Pius XII. Ratzinger's rejection of Thomism. The accusation of modernism against his doctoral thesis. Ratzinger's hand in writing two Vatican II documents, on the Church and on revelation. Ratzinger's errors (heresies?) as theologian on the resurrection of the body, and as cardinal on the nature of the Church, justification, etc. Our guests will be His Excellency, Bishop Donald Sanborn, rector of Most Holy Trinity Seminary in Brooksville, Florida and Fr. Anthony Cekada of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio. Both His Excellency and Father have studied Benedict XVI and his actions over the years and have much useful commentary

  • S2, Flagship Show, Ep18: St. Valentine’s Day

    14/03/2017 Duration: 01h29min

Original Air Date: February 14, 2013 On this episode of the Flagship Show, we will discuss the Feast of St. Valentine, Priest and Martyr. The modern world tells us that all we need is "luv" and on this feast day, taints the honor of it with an endless barrage of encouragement towards impurity, promiscuity, and materialism. In the glow of the modern Hallmark holiday that is simply "Valentine's Day" (sans "Saint"), we reflect on the actual saint and the actual feast of the day. Our guest, Bishop Daniel Dolan, will also discuss some of the particular challenges both singles and married couples face in our modern world. • S2, Flagship Show, Ep17: The Resignation of Benedict XVI

    11/03/2017 Duration: 02h04min

Original Air Date: February 11, 2013 On this episode of the Flagship Show, we discuss the breaking news announced today that Father Joseph Ratzinger, also known as Benedict XVI, has made the decision to resign as claimant to the Papacy. An organization such as the Roman Catholic Church that has an over-2000 year existence has both history and precedent. Though it has been almost 1000 years since the last resignation, and the reasons given by Benedict match reasons given in the past, the real story for us to discuss is Benedict XVI's tenure and legacy and what awaits us on the horizon. Joining us for this discussion will be His Excellency, Bishop Donald Sanborn, Rector of Most Holy Trinity Seminary in Brooksville, Florida. His Excellency has exhaustively studied Father Ratzinger and has a keen understanding of his history, theology, and worldview. • S2, Flagship Show, Ep16: The Chair of St. Peter

    08/03/2017 Duration: 59min

This first episode of Season 2 released on January 3, 2013. On this month's episode of the Flagship Show, we will discuss the topic of the Chair of St. Peter. It's bad enough that Catholics already get accused of worshipping graven images, but on the feast of the Chair of St. Peter, we might even be accused of "worshipping" a chair. What is the Feast of the Chair of St. Peter? Why are there two feasts? Why is this feast ever more important in our day? His Excellency, Bishop Daniel Dolan will be joining us to share his wisdom and thoughts. Join us for this first episode of Season 2 of Restoration Radio. • S1, Flagship Show, Ep14: Christ the King

    03/03/2017 Duration: 01h28min

Original Air Date: October 27, 2012 On this month's episode of The Flagship Show, we will discuss the Catholic social doctrine of Christ the King. Americans are taught from a very young age that the separation of Church and State is not only a truism, but that it is something that should be spread to all nations concomitant with the "blessings" of democracy. Thus, the notion of the Kingship of Christ is anathema in a world in which no one is seen to be above the State, save perhaps, the United Nations. Join us the day before Christ the King Sunday as Bishop Daniel Dolan discusses the important doctrine behind this feast and why it is more important than ever. • S1, Flagship Show, Ep13: The Second Vatican Council

    01/03/2017 Duration: 02h59min

This special three hour show on Vatican II originally aired on October 20, 2012. In this month's episode of the Flagship Show, we present a 3 hour in-depth forensic investigation into the Second Vatican Council, the heresies contained within it, and the Catholic reaction to it. This show was graciously sponsored and brought to our listeners free-of-charge by Novus Ordo Watch. Some Catholics believe that the answer to all our present ills lies in the "problem of the Pope." They will even host entire conferences on such a topic, thinking that the answer to the question of the Pope is the answer to everything; This is only partly true. The event that hatched an entire line of questionable claimants to the Papacy was the Second Vatican Council. This Council has many troublesome documents, which, even more troublingly, many Catholics, even those purporting to be "Traditional," denounce but have never even read. During this special 3-hour show with His Excellency, Bishop Donald Sanborn, we will discuss 6 document

  • S1, Flagship Show, Ep11: Catholic Economic and Political Thought

    24/02/2017 Duration: 01h26min

Original Air Date: August 05, 2012 On this month's episode of the Flagship Show, we will discuss the broad subject of Catholic Economic and Political Thought. We will be delving into the social teaching of the Catholic Church, discussing the rights and duties of laymen in the temporal sphere, Catholic economic thought, and the politics of Christ the King. Catholics today are, far too often, imbued with the spirit the modern world which promulgates a completely false understanding of politics, the ends they serve, the social order of man, the relationship of Church and State, as well as the Catholic order of society. Join us as we discuss these and other topics relating to this subject. • S1, Flagship Show, Ep10: The Olympic Games

    22/02/2017 Duration: 01h01min

Original Air Date: July 31, 2012 On this month's episode of the Flagship Show, we discuss the Catholic perspective on the Olympic Games. It is true that even St. Paul referred to the Olympics, in a way, in 1 Corinthians 9, when he refers to the runners running a race in order to obtain a crown. What would St. Paul, and indeed, what should Catholics, think of the modern day Olympics? With the 2012 Olympics kicking off on July 25th in London, we thought it would be a good time to discuss this oft-occurring sporting event. Join hosts Nicholas Wansbutter and Stephen Heiner who will have a spirited discussion and argue opposing positions on the Olympic Games. • S1, Flagship Show, Ep7: For Greater Glory

    15/02/2017 Duration: 42min

Original Air Date: June 15, 2012 On this month's episode of the Flagship Show, we will discuss and review the movie For Greater Glory. In a morally impoverished world, it is seemingly enough for Catholics to be excited simply to see an undesecrated crucifix in our society. To see a movie that is unambiguously Catholic, that promotes Catholic values, that portrays violence done to martyrs in a way that does not glory in gore? This is almost a unicorn. However, it is the reality of the newly released movie For Greater Glory. 13/02/2017 Duration: 38min

Original Air Date: June 7, 2012 On this month's episode of The Flagship, we discuss a new twist on an old tale: Snow White and the Huntsmen. The new Snow White movie provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the perspective of good and evil, the role of the Church in society, masculine and feminine roles, and the wonder of the moral imagination. • S1, Flagship Show, Ep3: The Hunger Games Novel and First Film

    08/02/2017 Duration: 01h25min

On this episode of the Flagship Show, True Restoration is concerned with cultural aspects, knowing, in the words of Russell Kirk, but paraphrasing in the spirit of St. Augustine, that the "thinking Catholic understands that permanence and change must be recognized and reconciled in a vigorous society." We will take a look at the phenomenon of The Hunger Games, both the book and the movie (we consider them separate, not equivalent pieces...comparing a book to a movie is rather like comparing a poem to a painting) from a Catholic point of view. We are joined by a former SSPX priest, Father Anthony Cekada, to talk about similarities of this situation to that of 1984, 1988, 2000, and 2007 within the SSPX. What makes this situation similar, and what makes it different than that of previous episodes between the Society of St. Pius X and the Vatican?
