  • CGP Ep83 Stability Mobility to the Next Level

    22/07/2015 Duration: 32min

We have all heard of the Stability Mobility Model initially created by @Perform_Better legends and @myTPI Advisory Board members Mike Boyle and Gray Cook. If you are unfamiliar with it just type “Ive been living under a rock” in the google search and it should come up for you. In this episode we are taking this concept to the Next Level. We will discuss how to determine whether the limitation is a stability or a mobility issue and how you can actually bring a stability correction to a mobility restriction and get results! "What? I thought you never bring a stability correction to a mobility limitation?” We also have a not so special guest, Sir Royston Reamsbottom who says that he invented the model a long time before it was made popular here in North America. Listen and learn! #CoachGlassNextLevel #DreamBig #OverDeliver #BeUndeniable Coach Glass

  • CGP Ep82 Glass&Gill Show Coaching in 3D Biomechanics

    15/07/2015 Duration: 36min

Technology is moving faster and and its helping our athletes move faster! The problem is that some coaches are losing the ability to coach because they are relying solely on the tech and not their gut! The Skyman and the Glassman have been using 3D motion capture, force plates, and launch monitor systems to analyze athletic performance for the past 10 years. It has helped us analyze some of the greatest athletes of the past decade but…….. it is only a tool. The one thing technology will never replace is the coach! In this episode of the #CoachGlassPodcast Lance and I discuss in detail how we use technology (Focus on 3D Motion Capture) to help us COACH! There is a time to share technology with your athlete and a time to use the technical analysis to just validate your gut feeling. A great coach knows when to share and when to shut up! Listen, learn and as always with a Glass & Gill Show, sit back relax and pour yourself a stiff one. We are going on a ride! @performbetter @mytpi #CoachGlassNextLevel #DreamB

  • CGP Ep81 Next Level Training

    08/07/2015 Duration: 34min

Okay so we all know how to strength train and train for power. With @FunctionalMvmt , @SFMA_rehab and @mytpi we know how to screen for function and correct dysfunction using corrective exercises. Sport specific training is all about completing a sport needs assessment and matching your athlete’s physical abilities to the sports requirements. We get it!!! This is nothing new. But what I am sharing with you is new, it is different and it is going to change the way you train your athletes. Next Level Training amplifies your athlete’s performance using minimal equipment, minimal stress on the body and minimal time. In this episode I share the basic concepts of my training program and share some of the elements that I taught at the Chicago @PerformBetter Summit. If you missed my Next Level Training lecture or hands on session you don’t have to cry yourself to sleep on you gigantic pillow anymore ;) This episode introduces the concepts and helps you understand this massive missing gap in performance training. • CGP Ep80 Janet Alexander Training the Female Athlete

    01/07/2015 Duration: 43min

This could be one of the most important topics in strength and conditioning today. How to train the female athlete. So many fitness professionals provide women with the same exercise programs as they do for their male clients. Others that are switched on enough to design programs specifically for women end up creating programs that don’t take into account the fluctuating hormone levels that occur throughout a women’s cycle. If you truly understand the science behind hormones and the menstrual cycle you can optimize the training effects all month round! Janet Alexander is arguably the World’s top expert when it comes to maximizing strength gains and performance change in the female athlete. Janet and I chat about this “taboo” subject and a whole host of other juicy topics. Come along for the ride! Hope you enjoy it! @performbetter @mytpi http://www.pacificfitnesshealth.com/home #CoachGlassNextLevel #DreamBig #OverDeliver #BeUndeniable Coach Glass

  • CGP Ep79 Bret Contreras The Glute Guy

    24/06/2015 Duration: 37min

Should you burn your benches? #BURNYOURBENCHES! Is the bench press archaic or one of the most important exercises for expressing push strength? I thought who better to ask than #PowerLifting fanatic and strength coach Bret Contreras. Bret is a very outspoken fitness blogger who isn’t afraid to mix it up with the big boys! We debate the finer things in strength training, rotational power and why he is known around the World as #TheGluteGuy. We also talk about how coaches like Mike Boyle and experts like Dr. Stuart McGill influenced the way we think about rotation and why some of these tenants don’t hold true. (BTW…. Boyle is right!) What does hypertrophy have to do with strength? Is there a linear relationship? Its conversations like this that get me fired up and excited about diving deeper into the world of strength and conditioning. Can’t wait for the @perfrombetter Chicago Summit where I will have a chance to speak with my colleagues and debate these topics in more depth! Listen, learn and enjoy! @performbe

  • CGP Good Vibrations with Jeff Handler

    10/06/2015 Duration: 35min

Good Good Good Good Vibrations! I think the Beach Boys were on to something. Apparently it wasn’t the Beach Boys but instead Whole Body Vibration Training (WBVT) was invented to keep Russian Cosmonauts shredded while orbiting the earth. Since then it has been refined and experimented with and now a standard in training facilities around the globe. I was on the blower with Jeff Handler @jeffhandler (Former Strength Coach of masters Champion Mike Weir) sport-rx.com and was having such a great conversation I decided to set up the pics and put it on wax!  WBVT consists of standing on a platform that vibrates in a way designed to stimulate your hormonal, cardiovascular, lymphatic, and nervous systems simultaneously. The reflexive muscle contraction has been proven to provoke: Increased lymphatic drainage Increased bone mass and mineral density Increased flexibility and mobility Metabolic alterations in bone, stomach, bowel, prostate, kidney, and bladder Enhances knee neuromuscular control Immediate improvement in

  • CGP Ep75 Kelly Starrett CROSSFIT

    03/06/2015 Duration: 36min

Everyone has an opinion on #Crossfit. Before you make assumptions you need to listen to both sides of the issue. So here it is! Kelly Starrett @mobilitywod and Coach Glass discuss the good and the bad of Crossfit and why it just may be the best thing you and your clients can do for their health. I offer up my minimal dose effect style of training which is a polar opposite to Crossfit.  You will have to listen to hear the outcome and whether or not we can see eye to eye! We also discuss something so cool and revolutionary that I encourage every #Glistener to get on board. Kelly and his wife Juliet started an non profit organization with a mission to get rid of conventional desks in schools. Their organization standupkids.org is putting standing desks in schools and you won’t believe how it is changing the way kids are taught and the physical and mental emotional benefits. Make sure you check out Kelly’s books “The Supple Leapard” and “Ready to Run” which are both fantastic! Order them from @PerformBetter and u

  • CGP Ep72 #DeflateGate Deflaters Gonna Deflate

    20/05/2015 Duration: 35min

Deflaters gonna Deflate! Are you afraid to express your thoughts, passions, and share it with the World in FEAR of “others” letting the air out. It seems like there are more haters than creators because we are allowing the comment sections and snide criticisms keep us from sharing what we believe is true. I get asked all the time “#YoJay aren’t you afraid of people’s reaction when you put out your videos, podcast or blog posts? Aren’t you concerned about someone not agreeing with your thoughts or hating on your delivery style? Aren’t you afraid of………?????” The answer is YES for about 2.5 seconds and then I get over it and do it anyways! Why? Because its not for them! I don’t do what I do for them. I do it for the people who appreciate it, somehow get inspired by it, learn from it and are entertained by it. This weeks episode is all about that. YOU overcoming your FEAR! You taking control of your path and delivering what is AUTHENTIC to you! Not them. Herm Edwards “Just put your name on it! Thats all I say. Be

  • CGP Ep70 Mentorship Pathway to Success

    06/05/2015 Duration: 36min

To #DreamBig you need to be able to imagine a destination. To successfully reach your destination you need to have a path. The directions to get from your dreams to your destination often come from a mentor. The mentor either shows you what is possible and or defines the best way to get there. A great quote that resonates with me is “Don’t follow in the footsteps of the masters. Seek what they sought!”  I love this because truly the difference between success and failure is not knowing the destination but instead understanding how to relentlessly drive toward it through the successes and failures we encounter along the way. Every year I hold a Mentorship for 10 people and every year I am amazed at the drive and determination that the mentors come with and the only thing truly holding them back is the support and encouragement to continue down the path. Some people need a light to see the path and others need some barriers put up to help them avoid veering off the path on route to the destination. In this Epis

    22/04/2015 Duration: 41min

**Warning** #Crossfit RANT! If I had a WOD of cash for every time someone asked me what I thought about #Crossfit I would be a zillionaire brah! Before you get your knee high socks in a knot. I would never post my opinion on such a controversial topic without doing my homework first. I always say you can’t have an opinion till you have looked at both sides of the equation. So I spent a week completely immersed in the crossfit culture. I went to my local crossfit gym, watched Youtube videos of the regional & national competitions and trained with my shirt off while I listened to Skrillex. All for this episode of the #CoachGlassPodcast! You may just be surprised at what I found.
