In terms of comics, this megaseries has covered and will cover the oldest of the old, the newest of the new and a tasteful selection of everything in between! In this week's adventure, Magnus gabs about Batman- Dark Victory! Yes, a Jeph Loeb comic book. This sequel to the Long Halloween completes the transition from Batman's world as we first saw it in Year One to what it had become in the 1990's. Considering the fact that this is a Jeph Loeb comment, it's perfectly valid to ask if His Excellency had another meltdown over it or if he actually enjoyed himself for a change. Giving that away here would be rather pointless, would it not? But that's not all! In the second segment, your leader takes a moment to acknowledge that this past summer marked the 20th a

For those determined to ruin the Internet for everyone else by perpetuating click-bait on Fa

  • Episode 126- Magnus Talks About Smallville- Mighty Season 03 Part 04- Things Would've Been So Different Between Us (Plus Coming Attractions!)

    16/12/2015 Duration: 02h09min

In this week's ball-hypnotizing episode, Magnus continues the Smallville retrospective. In this week's adventure, Resurrection, Crisis, Legacy, Truth and Memoria from the Mighty Season 3 are put under the microscope. Plot lines are put together, character arcs are pulled apart, everything gets dropped into a blender and put on High and it would be fairly safe to say that nobody but nobody has ever analyzed Smallville to this nearly pornographic level. Many revelations are made in this batch of episodes, arguably none more shocking than goings on related to Clark and Lex's respective mothers. But that's not all! Once the Smallville discussion has run its course, Magnus looks to the future and gives a glimpse of coming attractions planned for 2016. For those determined to ruin the Internet for everyone else by perpetuating click-bait on Facebook, "You won't believe which beloved fanboy movie Magnus compares Memoria to!" • Episode 125- Big Book Report- Thugs (with Chris Honeywell)

    08/12/2015 Duration: 02h18min

In this week's ball-beating episode, Magnus once again teams up with Chris Honeywell from Two True Freaks to talk about roving gangs, the criminal underworld and thug-life forever. Yes indeed, this is another entry in the Big Book Report. In this week's adventure, the Big Book Reporters work their way through the Big Book of Thugs from DC/Paradox Press. It's a long sordid tale of thieves, scum and every kind of reject you can imagine. And that's all before talking about the characters featured in the book! What did it take to build America? Who in his right mind would be crazy enough to even try? And what are the lasting legacies of the expansionist era of the United States? All these subjects and more are discussed this week! For those determined to ruin the Internet for everyone else by perpetuating click-bait on Facebook, "Honeywell's encounter with mob thugs will make you pee your pants!" • Episode 124- Behind the Headset- How Magnus Got His Facebook Back

    01/12/2015 Duration: 01h03min

In this week's ball-banning episode, Magnus throws everything on pause to talk about a long, drawn out and rather unhappy story of how he got banned from Facebook over the summer... and also the harrowing tale of how he reclaimed what is rightfully his! It's an epic tale that spans years as Magnus recounts the Secret Origin of the name Trentus Magnus and the exact set of circumstances that led to the temporary banning. The telling of said story necessarily diverges from the topics and discussions for which Trentus Magnus Punches Reality is famous. And many of those topics may be a bitter pill for some followers. Listener discretion is advised! For those determined to ruin the Internet for everyone else by perpetuating click-bait on Facebook, "Ten reasons why Magnus was banned from Facebook. #7 will make you laugh your balls off, glue them back on and then laugh them off again." Due to the avalanche of ass-kickery, unfortunately there was just no time for listener feedback this week. Something will need to be

  • The I.O.U. Episode- Magnus Does a Mea Culpa (Plus The Shadow Strikes #01!)

    24/11/2015 Duration: 01h31min

In this week's ball-clouding episode, Magnus is forced to change the subject for reasons that will become clear later. For right now, this is a show that's been planned since the very beginning of Trentus Magnus Punches Reality. It's been delayed for various reasons on too many occasions to count but this week offered the perfect opportunity to do a show about The Shadow Strikes #01, written by Gerard Jones and illustrated by Eduardo Barreto. The Shadow unexpectedly reconnects with an old flame from the old world. Meanwhile, the lovely Margot Lane becomes embroiled in a mysterious cult led by a nigh-mythic figure from the early 20th century. Fact and fiction collide in this, the first issue of an epic comic book series. Who can say where fact ends and fiction begins? Or which is which? Once that's all over, Magnus takes the occasion to yammer on about 'Dead Again', a Superman storyline from 1994 which the hosts of From Crisis to Crisis have been covering for a while now. And, in typical Magnus fashion, your w

  • Episode 122- This is the End 04- Emerald Twilight

    17/11/2015 Duration: 01h03min

In this week's ball-amputating episode, Magnus was unable to sync up a recording schedule with any other podcaster who likes this week's comic. So it's a solo show concluding the This is the End mega series. You see, there was a trend back in the 90's when the main character would die, get incapacitated or otherwise get replaced so that some other dude could take over. The re-educated staff at Trentus Magnus Punches Reality all adore those stories (or else!) and, as shouldn't be breaking news to anybody, what Magnus believes is the very reality of what *IS*. This week, it's all about Emerald Twilight. And this isn't a passing acknowledgement that Emerald Twilight occurred in order to transition into a discussion about Kyle Rayner. No, good friends, this is a balls-deep examination of Emerald Twilight and everything it meant to Hal Jordan at the time the storyline saw print. What went right, what went wrong, what could've been done better, it's all put on the table here. For those determined to ruin the Intern

  • Episode 121- This is the End 03- Terminal Velocity (with J. David Weter But You Can Call Him Dave!)

    10/11/2015 Duration: 01h51min

In this week's ball-racing episode, J. David Weter But You Can Call Him Dave swings by to hang out with Magnus and continue His Excellency's This is the End mega series, which is all about that trend in the 90's when the main hero would die, get incapacitated or otherwise get chased out of his job in favor of someone else. Here at Trentus Magnus Punches Reality, our dedicated staff universally adore those stories (or else!). And, as long time loyal subjects learned from the beginning, what Magnus believes is the definitive statement as to what *IS*. This week, Dave and Magnus gab about all things Terminal Velocity. What did Mark Waid do right? What did his army of artists royally screw up? Does Terminal Velocity even count for the aforementioned "Let's replace the main hero" shtick? Dave and Magnus take turns pining for Mike Wieringo, analyzing story bits and having an open, balanced exchange concerning Dave's opinions about Impulse. No judgments are made, both points of view are validated and the mutual resp

  • Episode 120- This is the End 02- Knightfall (with Michael Bailey!)

    03/11/2015 Duration: 01h55min

In this week's ball-crippling episode, Magnus is joined by Michael "She Didn't Look Like A Cop" Bailey to continue the This is the End mega series, which is all about that trend in the 90's when the main hero would die, get incapacitated or otherwise get chased out of his job in favor of someone else. Here at Trentus Magnus Punches Reality, we have a strong affection for those stories. And, as long time loyal subjects well know, what His Excellency believes is the final word on what *IS*. This week, Batman gets put under the microscope (and over Bane's knee) for a fond look back at Knightfall... and Knightquest and KnightsEnd as well. Bailey and Magnus alternately heap praise upon some aspects of the Knightfall as a story and it's legacy while still serving a few pointed criticisms as certain people who shall remain nameless. Hey, there's gotta be some kind of incentive to actually listen to the show, right? For those determined to ruin the Internet for everyone else by perpetuating click-bait on Facebook, "Y

  • Episode 119- This is the End 01- Doomsday (with Shawn Engel!)

    27/10/2015 Duration: 03h03min

In this week's ball-pounding episode, Magnus joins forces with Shawn Engel to kick off This is the End, a new epic mega series from Trentus Magnus Punches Reality. Remember that trend in the 90's when the main hero would die, get incapacitated or otherwise get chased out of his job in favor of someone else? And weren't those comics *TOTALLY METAL*? Yes they were! And this week, the spotlight falls on Superman- Doomsday. Yes, the trade paperback has a different title but the comics are called simply "Doomsday" so that's what Magnus goes by. Shawn and Magnus wax nostalgic as they work their way through the entire Doomsday, Funeral for a Friend and Reign of the Supermen storylines. Revealed for the first time is the true story of how Shawn ever came to read this storyline. Magnus then breaks his silence as to how he spent the summer of 1993 *AND THE STORY WILL SHOCK AND AMAZE YOU*! Comics are read, fun is had and conversations are conversed as Magnus and Shawn fawn over this trilogy's nigh unprecedented awesomen

  • Episode 118- Magnus Talks About Smallville- Mighty Season 03 Part 03- The Test of True Friendship

    20/10/2015 Duration: 01h26min

In this week's ball-racing episode, Magnus continues analying the mighty third season of Smallville. The episodes this time around are Whisper, Delete, Hereafter, Velocity and (as a bonus) Obsession. Clark acquires superhearing, gets hypnotized, gains a girlfriend, gets married, gets an annulment and loses his girl. While working through these episodes, His Excellency also discovers that Smallville Clark has a superpower that no other version of Superman has ever been shown to have. The Leader psychoanalyzes character motives, tells stories about the time he was caught in the middle of a riot and discovers that Clark actually gains *TWO* new superpowers in this run of episodes. A wonderful time is had by all! For those of you determined to ruin the Internet for everyone else by perpetuating click-bait on Facebook, "You'll be amazed to discover what Clark's new superpower is!" Because of the virtual barrage of badassitude this week, unfortunately there was just no time for listener feedback this week. But don'

In this week's ball-scaring episode, Magnus takes a break from the Big Book Report by roping Chris Honeywell from Two True Freaks in for a discussion about Halloween, trick or treating, troublemaking, Facebook, politicians, elections, Star Trek, Star Wars and tons of other subjects. Honeywell has no shortage of opinions about anythin, especially those subjects. For those determined to ruin the Internet for everyone else by perpetuating click-bait on Facebook, "Chris was amazed when he heard what Magnus said about voting". Because of the virtual blitzkrieg of ass-kickery this week, unfortunately there was just no time for listener feedback this week. But don't let that get you down! • Episode 116- Shoot the Sh*t vol. 07- Magnus & Scott Gardner Talk

    06/10/2015 Duration: 02h46min

In this week's ball-meandering episode, Magnus takes a momentary break from big huge giant megaseries by roping Scott Gardner from Two True Freaks in for a discussion about comics, comics on film, DC films, Marvel films, Superman, Star Trek, Star Wars, Bea Arthur and tons of other subjects. Teary-eyed confessions are made, hands are shaken, balls are meandered and it would be safe to say that Magnus and Scott both come away from the experience better, wiser men as a result. Isn't that what these Shoot the Sh*t shows are supposed to be all about? For those determined to ruin the Internet for everyone else by perpetuating click-bait on Facebook, "Scott can't believe what Magnus says about Superman II". Because of the virtual blitzkrieg of ass-kickery this week, unfortunately there was just no time for listener feedback this week. But don't let that get you down! • Episode 115- Women in Comics 05- The Wildest (and Cutest) Web-Swinger of All!- Spider-Girl #01 (with Scott Ryfun)

    29/09/2015 Duration: 02h15min

In this week's ball-ambushing episode, Magnus wraps up the megaseries about women in comics, cleverly titled Women in Comics, by reading Spider-Girl #01 written by Tom DeFalco and drawn by Pat Oliffe. This title is to Spider-Man what Batman Beyond is to Batman... a sentiment somewhat agreed with by this week's guest, Scott Ryfun (of Dinner 4 Geeks fame). Magnus and Scott go through this issue with a fine-toothed comb. Scott actually agreed to discuss the first four issues of this series but His Excellency was so in awe of this issue's awesome splendor and splendid awesomeness that there was only time for the one issue. Scott was a good sport about it and agreed to return in the future to discuss the next three issues. As to this week's subject matter, what's so special about this comic that people still talk about it over 15 years later? More importantly, did our brave hosts enjoy this comic? Wouldn't answering that question here defeat the point of listening to both hours of Magnus and Scott's discussion? Fo
