Speaking of The Forgotten One. today's podcast concerns a volume of "Eternals" that a lot of people have probably never read. The fourth proper volume of "Eternals" came out in 2008. We took a look at "Eternals" #1-9 and Annual #1, which you can find those collected in "Eternals," Vol. 1: To Slay a God (#1-6) and Vol. 2: Manifest Destiny (#7-9, Annual #1). It's not much longer now, we're almost caught up to the present day.Next time, we enter the wasteland of "Eternals" conflict. They don't get another eponymous comic until the Kieron Gillen run. Despite our detour into the Marvel Max era with Chuck Austen's infamous and nearly impossible to track down "The Eternal" at the start, we're back to talk "Eternals" Vol. 3 #1-7 aka the one by Neil Gaiman and John Romita Jr. Digressions include the history of comics as summarized by 60 years of lawsuits, what is up with that art, and whether or not the comic worked as intended/did we like what was intended. At least we're out of the 90s, is all I (Elias) can say.Next time, we take a jump one year into the future to read the FOURTH volume of "Eternals" #1-9 and Annual #1. This time, we read some seriously weird books. We started with some classic 90s "Heroes for Hire" (Vol. 1) #4-7 (from November 1997 - January 1998) and then we read the bombastic "New Eternals: Apocalypse Now" (also known as Eternals: The New Breed) #1 (from February 2000.) This is around the place where Marvel creators lose track of continuity. That means some pretty wild swings. Not all of them connect.Next time is more "Eternals," but with a more classic reading selection. We are reading Eternals (vol. 3) #1–7 by Neil Gaiman and John Romita Jr. We will also have a brief discussion about Chuck Austen's Marvel MAX Eternals story, but you don't have to worry about tracking that one down.

2023 is here and that means it's time for Elias and Jaina to litigate their 2022 predictions for Marvel. Who will win? Will there be another tie? And how disappointed with this make them? Oh, and we announced what the stakes are for our 2023 predictions. 90s Eternals got dark! But maybe that's a good thing? At least dark is a tone; it's better to be dark than bland. Or is it? We talk about some very tacky comics that have a bit of life to them. It's a new year but we're not nearly done with our read through of all of The Eternals. It's the end of the year holiday season, so we are taking a break from our regularly scheduled program. The Eternals are forever, that's kind of the point of them (but will anyone care?) This week's episode takes a look back at the year in Marvel. The MCU may feel like it's going off the rails, but there are still some fun comics, even beyond the world of "X-Men." Find out which comics we think we'll find ourselves returning to again and again.We also have our annual predictions bet, where we try and guess at what's going to happen with Marvel stories across media. (Vol. 1) #23-30, a modern adventure spotlighting the Deviants in "Iron Man" Annual #6, and a fun story with Starfox of all people in "Avengers" (Vol. 1) #246-248. We're continuing our trek through Eternals history with the aptly named Thor and the Eternals: The Celestial Saga. Or is it Thor: The Eternals Saga? Depends on the collection! We read Thor (Vol. 1) #283-291, which is Roy Thomas' attempt at completing the story Kirby left dangling less than a year prior. Does it work? Well, we got a vampire-themed pro-wrester Eternal and a lot of Odin dunking. We also spend a lot of time flying around with Thor yelling ENOW and HIE. We've been talking about it for nearly 2 years and it only took the threat of the next book club for Jaina to finally convinced Elias to read the 2010 "Taskmaster" mini-series. Spoilers: I liked it! Much like the last Van Lente series. Well, maybe not quite like that one. In this episode, we discuss the series written by Fred van Lente, illustrated by Jefte Palo, colored by Jean-Francois Beaulieu and lettered by Dave Lanphear and it's many successes and oh so many flaws. We talk about the Avengers a whole bunch of this podcast. And Spider-Man. We spent a long time with the Guardians of the Galaxy. But it's been too long since we've checked in on Marvel's first family. It's a fascinating run; Dan Slott's vision is brought to life by a plethora of talented artists. The series had some incredible highs, but some dreadful lows. It's Hawkeye time! Specifically 2012's classic by Matt Fraction, David Aja, Matt Hollingsworth, and Chris Eliopolous (with Annie Wu and Francesco Francivilla rounding out the regular artists.) Jaina and Elias revisit the first eleven issues of this seminal classic about a sad sack avenger, a different sad sack YOUNG avenger, and an apartment building in Bed-Stuy. Does it hold up? Yes. Duh. Is it still a perfect masterpiece? Welllllllll.....Next episode, things get coastal as we check in on the back half of "Hawkeye" with #12-22 and the annual! That's volumes 3 & 4 of the trades and there is no set order because existence is pain and trust us we get into it. Comics!

After quite a number of episodes away, our monthly (now quarterly-ish) look at every X-book published since "House of X/Powers of X" returns with a new title and a new coat of paint. In addition, there's a small detour into one of the X one-shots we loved: "Giant-Size X-Men: Thunderbird" #1. This year we've read comics, we've even read a book, but in this episode we are doing neither. This is an episode all about a TV show. A short-lived, pretty fun TV show about everybody's favorite big evil head, MODOK. You know MODOK? The Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing? George Tarelton if you're feeling nasty. Turns out Marvel released a weird animated sitcom about the guy on Hulu. Though now cancelled, we discuss the series highs and lows, as we dream of a future with more MODOK.Still keeping up with our book club? Well get ready for some good old fashioned comics!
