Brian explained what a sabbatical is and what it is not, and why he chose to go on one recently for three months to the Holy Land.  Fr. Brian and Pam also discussed some stories of his time on his sabbatical, and what a week in the life of his trip looked like, including his adventures, his times of prayer, and times of self-reflection.  The conversation concluded on what the benefits of the sabbatical were for Fr. Brian, specifically how it renewed his heart as a priest and as a child of God.

    This week on RED-C Roundup our host Deacon Mike Beauvais visited with Dr. Sandy Hapenney, Executive Life Coach and volunteer catechist in the Central Texas area. Deacon Mike and Sandy visited first about her faith, conversion, work, and family background. Sandy then spoke about her background in theology and how this has led her to multiple opportunities to share the Catholic Faith with a variety of people in a variety of settings. One of Sandy’s most recent opportunities to teach is at her local workshop entitled Guiding Youth to Sexual Integrity and Abundant Life, where she will teach students and parents about the Catholic Church’s teaching on human sexuality, especially in light of today’s confusion around gender roles and identities. More can be heard from Dr. Hapenney about sexual integrity at her local workshop, on Monday, February 6th at St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco.

    This week on RED-C Roundup our host Dr. Thaddeus Romansky visited with Kevin Pesek, Director of Faith Formation at St. Mary’s Catholic Center in College Station.  Thaddeus and Kevin spoke in this episode about the life and teachings of Pope Benedict XVI.  They began by pondering the essential encyclicals, writings, and homilies by Pope Benedict.  They continued by recalling the multiple ways that Pope Benedict and his teachings impacted their personal journey of Faith.  Kevin and Thaddeus also spent some time comparing the three potificates of Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis. The final part of their discussion was on various aspects of the Faith, including sacraments, grace, living what the Church teaches, prayer, conversion, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and loving Christ with our whole heart, and Pope Benedict’s teaching and perspective on each.

Deacon Mike also spoke with Tom about his most recent books, specifically 20 Answers: The Rosary, What Did Jesus Do? The Biblical Roots of the Catholic Church, and Biblical Roots of the Mass.
