On this episode of RED-C Roundup, host Judy Comeaux visits with Sheera Helms, Director of the Elizabeth House Maternity Home.  Judy and Sheera spoke about the day to day operations and needs of the Elizabeth House, as well as the needs of the organization, which recently was blessed with the opportunity to open their second house.  Sheera shared stories of the ladies who are helped by the Elizabeth House and the impact that their stays have had on the ladies and their entire families.

Thaddeus and Katy spoke extensively about her organization’s work to put children before adults in every conversation about marriage and family. This week on RED-C Roundup our host Deacon Mike Beauvais visited with J. Budziszewski, professor of government and philosophy at the University of Texas, Austin, where he has taught since 1981. Professor Budziszewski specializes in ethics, political philosophy and the interaction of these two fields with religion and theology.  Deacon Mike first spoke with Professor Budziszewski about his new book, How and How Not to be Happy, in which he draws on decades of study to dispel the myths and wishful thinking that blind people from uncovering lasting fulfillment.  Deacon Mike‘s interview questions help J. Budziszewski explore his life history and his teaching experiences now, and how the listener can attain happiness—and just as importantly, how not to.

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Judy Comeaux visited with Fr. Will Rooney, Parochial Vicar at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan. Judy and Fr. Will spoke about his life and vocation story, as well as his current assignment at St. Joseph’s Parish. Fr. Will also spoke about sabbaticals and the reason for them and what their value is for a priest as well as his congregation. Lastly, the topics of Apostolic pardon and the anointing of the sick were discussed - what these entail and how they are distinct, as well as the role they play in the life of the Church and the Faithful. 

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Pam Marvin and guest cohost Robye Harvey visited with Immaculée Ilibagiza, author of multiple books and survivor of the Rwandan Holocaust. Pam and Robye spoke with Immaculée about her first book, Left to Tell: Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust, and about the power of prayer and forgiveness. Specifically she mentions in this episode, “when you pray for your enemies, you rob them of their power!”  Today, Immaculée is regarded as one of world's leading speakers on faith, hope and forgiveness. This week on RED-C Roundup our host Deacon Mike Beauvais visited with Fr. Timothy Vaverick, Pastor of St. Mary’s Church of the Assumption in West, Texas.  Deacon Mike first spoke with Fr. Timothy about his call to the priesthood during his time in college as a Physics major at Texas State University. The remainder of the interview focused on Fr. Timothy’s newest book, As I Have Loved You: Rediscovering Our Salvation in Christ.  In his book, Fr. Timothy Vaverek explores the core message of the gospel as salvation in Christ. Why did God become man? What does it mean to be saved?  Fr. Timothy offers a biblical and Catholic response to these questions by illuminating the essential themes of the economy of salvation.

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Judy Comeaux visited with John Paci, Director of the CCCTX Bryan Office and with Brooke Swate, Director of Disaster Response for Catholic Charities of Central Texas.  John and Brooke visited with Judy in this show about disaster preparedness and response, and how CCCTX is poised to help in response to disasters in Central Texas, and beyond. The guests also spoke about September being disaster preparedness month and what CCCTX has planned for this month. Future plans of Catholic Charities in general were discussed, as well as ways the listener can support the mission of CCCTX.  

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Pam Marvin visited with Aine Fitzgerald, Campaign Director for 40 Days for Life in Waco, TX.  Aine visited with Pam in this show about her reversion to the Faith and the beginnings of her involvement and leadership in the pro-life movement.  Aine spoke about her moving from Ireland to Houston, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and finally to Waco Texas.  Aine and Pam also spoke about her current leadership with 40 Days For Life in Central Texas and about the upcoming prayer and fasting campaign beginning on September 27th. Aine lives her life as a true disciple who cares about everyone involved in the abortion debate, including the baby, the mother, as well as the leadership on the pro-abortion side, including the abortionists!  

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Pam Marvin visited with Brian Baudoin and Bryce Kennison from Ablaze Ministries to talk about youth ministry in today's society.  Brian Baudoin serves as the Local Mission Coordinator for Ablaze in Bryan, and Bryce Kennison serves as an Ablaze Missionary at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bryan.  All spoke about the tremendous need for evangelization, catechesis, and community that youth ministry provides for families and their children.  The challenges of youth ministry in today's culture was discussed, and the triumphs of reaching youth in their environment and on a one-to-one basis was shared.  Brian and Bryce also spoke about the multiple ministry programs that Ablaze is engaged in for youth, families and married couples, as well.

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Dr. Thaddeus Romansky visited with Adam Brill, Liturgical Coordinator at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in College Station, TX.  Adam and Thaddeus visited in this show about the beauty of the Eucharist, and the current years of Eucharistic Revival that we are in, both in our Austin Diocese, as well as in our United States. Also discussed in this episode were Eucharistic miracles and stories through the ages about how the Eucharist has sustained peoples and even entire nations through times of persecution and strife. Finally, Thaddeus and Adam visited about how we can grow in our faith and belief in the most Holy Eucharist. 

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Deacon Mike Beauvais visited with Dr. Randall Smith, Full Professor with tenure in the Department of Philosophy at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas.  Dr. Smith’s interests include moral theology, patristic and medieval theology, ancient and medieval philosophy, faith and culture, as well as Theology and science. Deacon Mike spoke with Dr. Smith about his insight on the topic of morality, natural law and dialogue in a relativistic culture.  Our host lastly spoke with our guest about his recent article in The Catholic Thing, entitled The Chicago Way vs. The Catholic Way.  

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Pam Marvin visited with Fr. Will Straten, Pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Center in College Station, TX.  Fr. Straten shared his vocation and life story from his early days growing up in Tours, TX. Fr. Will spoke about the wary influences in his faith, especially in his own family and in his community members and local clergy. Next, Fr. Will shared about his experiences in college and his call to the seminary and subsequently, the priesthood. Next, Pam and Fr. Will spoke about the Eucharistic Revival taking place in the Austin Diocese and in the Catholic Church, worldwide. Both shared their thoughts and their heart in the Eucharist and what it means to them.

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Judy Comeaux visited with Dianna Jetter, Pastoral Associate at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in College Station and Karen Candelas, Gabriel Project Coordinator at Catholic Charities of Central Texas in Austin.  Our guests spoke about a new Brazos Deanery-level project within the Austin Diocese of Walking With Moms and Dads in Need.  The program is of tremendous support in the financial, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of mothers and fathers who are in need of such services. Dianna also spoke about the new Brazos Deanery website, bcsdeanery.org and the resources and information that can be found there, including the help that the Stephen Ministry offers. Karen also spoke about her work at CCCTX with the Gabriel Project and St. Gabriel’s Pregnancy and Parenting Program.

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Dr. Thaddeus Romansky visited with Dr. Timothy Logan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M University in College Station.  Dr. Logan is the Director of the Houston Lightning Mapping Array (HLMA) Network and also performs research in aerosol-cloud interactions, aerosol chemistry, biomass burning smoke, and atmospheric electricity.  Dr. Romansky spoke with Dr. Logan about the intersection of Faith and Science and about his life and journey of faith from Southern Baptist to a Catholic Convert.  Tim also shared his love of family and his work, as well as his devotion to our Blessed Mother.  Tim interwove his thought on God as our Creator and how He can be seen throughout all of the scientific world and how Faith and Science are not at all opposed to one another.

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Deacon Mike Beauvais visited with Julia Mishler, Principal, and Maria Sotolongo, Director of Development and Admissions, from St. Joseph Catholic School in Bryan, TX. Our guests spoke first about about their Catholic Faith journeys and their life backgrounds that led them both to their work at St. Joseph. The topic for the remainder of the show was the question, “What makes Catholic education different than public education?”  Insights from all sides of the spectrum were given, as the guests have had family and professional experience in public school, home school, and in Catholic school. The importance  of addressing the needs of students in their entirety: mind, body, and spirit in a Catholic environment and culture of belonging was shared throughout the remainder of this episode. Both Julia and Maria finished up the episode speaking about what they are both most excited about for the future at St. Joseph Catholic School.

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Pam Marvin interviewed United States Congressman, Pete Sessions. Pam and Congressman Sessions first spoke about his life background growing up in the San Antonio, Texas area and into his college years. The conversation continued into his career life and how he became involved in politics and running for public office. Pam then had Congressman Sessions speak about his current role as a congressman and multiple different current topics that affect people of faith: redistricting, the first and second amendments, religious freedom, pro-life legal issues, immigration, and drug trafficking. Finally, a discussion of living a life of faith in the public square was held, and how our lives of faith should guide us in all we do. 

On Wednesday, June 22, host Judy Comeaux spoke with the pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bryan about the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Fr. Brian especially emphasized that Anointing is not reserved to those who are in danger of death. It is a sacrament of healing—rooted in Scripture and instituted by Christ like all the sacraments—meant for any Catholic who is about to undergo major surgery, carries the cross of a chronic disease, or faces the burden of a regular treatment regimen for their disease. He explained that Catholics should also make sure that they are availing themselves not only of the sacrament of anointing regularly, but doing so in combination with regular confession. Remember, when choosing between the values of heaven and the values of earth, always round up!

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Dr. Thaddeus Romansky interviewed Debbie Juhlke from Embrace Initiative and a Member of the Board of Directors of Texas Alliance for Life in Austin, TX. Embrace (https://friendsofembrace.org) is a local non-profit organization that educates, empowers, mobilizes, and supports people of color. Embrace empowers expecting mothers and fathers to make healthy choices that not only benefit their overall wellbeing, but also encourage life, love, and support of future generations. Thaddeus spoke with Debbie about her life growing up initially as a Baptist and her family’s conversion to the Catholic Faith. She spoke about her lifetime care and concern for children of all ages which led to her becoming a nurse. Debbie also spoke about her call to ministry to the black communities in Central Texas, teaching them about the pro-life topic and educating pastors and their parishioners about the cause of life.  Debbie and Thaddeus also discussed the specific threat that abortion is to peopl

This week on RED-C Roundup our host Deacon Mike Beauvais interviewed Deacon Dan Lupo from St. Thomas More parish in the Diocese of Austin, who serves with Deacon Mike on the Diocese Committee on Eucharistic Revival.   This year the Diocese of Austin begins a journey of Eucharistic Revival starting in 2022 and for the next three years, in which every Catholic diocese, parish, school, apostolate, and family are invited to be a part of renewing the Church by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. Both Deacons also spoke about the opening event of a Diocesan Corpus Christi Mass and Eucharistic Procession on June 18th in Austin.
