Episodes

  • Episode 159: The MEHtrix - New Trail Brewing & Voodoo Brewery

    01/03/2020 Duration: 59min

In episode 159, Tony & Eddie go back 20 years as they sit down to talk about the original Matrix film. Yes, this 1999 smash hit changed action movies forever, but with the Matrix 4 being filmed right now, the boys thought it made sense to go back and ask - how did this film hold up? They answer that question and many more in this week's throwback episode. The boys also sampled brews from New Trail Brewing and Voodoo Brewery. Both of this week's beers are double IPAs, so if you like that dank and sticky icky citrus punch - hang around for the Untappd reviews at the end of the episode.

  • (Mini) Episode 158 - Boulevard Brewing & Erie Brewing Company

    23/02/2020 Duration: 50min

In mini episode 158, Tony & Eddie skip the movie or board game reviews and talk about two new brews exclusively. This week Eddie tried one from Erie Brewing Company and Tony sampled a new one from Boulevard Brewing.

  • Episode 157: 100% Not a Zombie Movie - Erie Ale Works / Brewerie & Southern Tier Brewing Company

    16/02/2020 Duration: 01h11min

In episode 157, Tony & Eddie talk about Parasite (2019). They recorded this on the eve (maybe even during) the Oscars and there may even be some predictions in this episode. Parasite is an odd film. A good film. An original film. But is it for everyone? There's a lot to consider here and the boys do a great job of breaking this one down. Eddie sampled a new collab brew from Erie Ale Works and The Brewerie at Union Station. If you like a crisp Pilsner, 20/20 might be something to seek out. Tony tried a Cherry Crush from Southern Tier. He's been branching out into more sours lately. Does Cherry Crush make the recommendation list? The answers to all that and more are here, folks! Check out this week's episode! It was a fun one.

  • Episode 156: Horrified Board Game - Knockin Noggin Cidery & Firestone Walker Brewing Company

    09/02/2020 Duration: 42min

In episode 156, the boys are back to giving you their take on a new board game from Ravensburger games, Horrified. Horrified is an easy to learn and easy to play romp through some very nostalgic monster based memories. In this co-op title, you'll battle against foes like Dracula, the creature from The Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Mummy. There's fun characters for you to choose to play as. There's interesting and creative win conditions for each monster, and there's enough variety here as a result to keep coming back to for a bit. The big win here is that this game is a great one for a family based fun night around the table. If you're interested in the full review, check out this week's episode. We also talk about two new brews of course. Tony brought a juicy IPS from Firestone and Eddie sampled a new cider from Knockin Noggin. There's something for everybody in episode 156, so give it a listen!

  • Episode 155: Send in the Clowns! - 21st Amendment Brewery

    02/02/2020 Duration: 01h04min

In Episode 155, Tony & Eddie finally get to talk about Joker (2019). There was so much drama circling this film's release. So much good press. Almost immediate Oscar buzz callouts. It's another rated R comic flick, but does it stand out? Does it prove to be as shocking as we all heard? What about the likes to domestic terrorism? Are they here? Was Joaquin's performance as amazing as you probably heard? Tune into this week's episode to find out. The boys also both tried new beers from 21st Amendment Brewery. If you're a long time listener then you know this is a brewery that Tony & Eddie love. Did Monk's Blood and Tasty IPA keep that praise train moving along?

  • Episode 154: "The God Couple" - Great Lakes Brewing & Bell's Brewery

    26/01/2020 Duration: 59min

In episode 154, Tony & Eddie gather round to speak reluctantly (at least from Eddie's side of the house) about Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe's madness tour de force, The Lighthouse (2019). There's enough to unpack here that the boys could have taken 2 or 3 episodes to get to it all. Even then there'd still be loose ends for sure. The Lighthouse is a tense, dramatic, decent into the rough side of the human condition when all the wrong influences are at play. Isolation, abuse, alcoholism, lies and deceit. It's all here and it's all-in. The boys also sampled new brews from Bell's Brewery and Great Lakes Brewing. On the lighter end of the weight scale, Eddie's light but bright Great Lakes IPA was a refreshing and lightly piney sipper. Tony went even lighter with a Bell's lager that the boys had never seen before and that didn't disappoint either. Check out these week's episode for all the details!

  • (Mini) Episode 153 - Erie Brewing Company & Stone Brewing

    19/01/2020 Duration: 56min

In mini episode 153, Tony & Eddie sample two new beers that they both ended up loving. A new hazy IPS from Erie Brewing Company called Aggressive Bottoms and Notorious P.O.G. from Stone. If you lean towards the citrus side of the IPS house - this episode is for you. Stick around for the end of the episode to hear the boy's detailed review and their Untappd app rating.

  • Episode 152: You're gonna need a bigger table! - Arundel Cellars & Brewery & Southern Tier

    12/01/2020 Duration: 48min

In episode 152, Tony & Eddie are still reviewing things on the Cinemantics rating scale, only this time it's not a movie. This week they're not reviewing the film, Jaws, but they are checking out the new tabletop board game based on the classic film. If you love board games, or the film or any combo of the two - tune in this week to see what the boys thought. They give you some stats (of course), some details into the mechanics, and the things they loved and the things that maybe they'd liked to have changed. They also sample two new brews this week. One from Arundel Cellars & Brewery and another from Southern Tier Brewing Company.

  • (Mini) 151: Year-end Recap! - Grist House & Dogfish Head Brewing

    04/01/2020 Duration: 54min

In episode 151, Tony & Eddie take some time to sift through this year's beers, movies and even the video games they've chatted about on the show and they call out their top 3 choices. It's like the Cinemantics Award Show, perhaps. The boys had a blast this episode reliving some of the bests of the year and they even spend some time talking about the worsts. We thank you all for listening to us this year and we're really looking forward to 2020 and some changes to the show. Stay tuned for more details!

  • Episode 150: It's a Blunderful Life - Dogfish Head and Founders Brewing

    22/12/2019 Duration: 01h03min

In episode 150, Tony & Eddie wrap their third year of Christmas movie marathon episodes with a review of the often requested, It's a Wonderful Life (1946). Most of you have surely seen the film, but interestingly, this was Tony's first viewing. His years-later perspective added some fresh new takes on the timeless holiday classic, but did he ba-humbug the whole thing? Or did it help make his Christmas merry? Check out this week's episode to find out. The boys also try new brews from Dogfish Head and from Founders. If you like a heavy stout or enjoy a nutty coffee infused brown ale, you may want to stick around to hear about these two new beers from those mater breweries.

  • Episode 149: Turns out Eddie might be a Bill "Hater" - Founders & Fat Head's

    15/12/2019 Duration: 01h01min

In episode 149, Tony & Eddie continue their holiday hi-jinx with a review of the new Disney+ original, Noelle (2019). Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader star in this refreshing new holiday flick that brings Christmas cheer, warmth and even some smart writing to the table. Kendrick is adorable here as the out of place, Noelle, searching for her brother (Hader) as he's fled the North Pole to avoid his birthright after their father, Old Saint Nick (yes the real one) has an untimely death. There's a great supporting class here. There's new takes on old holiday magic. There's adorable quips...and an annoying baby reindeer. There's a lot to love, but does it have it all? Will Noelle make it on Tony or Eddie's yearly Christmas much watch lists? Check out the episode to find out. The boys also sampled new brews from Fat Head's Brewing and Founders. There's more holiday brew reviews at the end of this week's episode so stick around for those and the boys' Untappd app scores.

  • Episode 148: Big Kramp Energy: Sierra Nevada & Rusty Rails

    15/12/2019 Duration: 01h01min

In episode 148, Tony & Eddie continue their third annual Christmas Extravaganza with another festive flick. This time, however, it's a holiday horror pick. Krampus (2015), stars Adam Scott as a middle-America dad that deals with not only some Christmas blues, but some terrible in-laws and of course - old St. Nick's estranged and evil counterpart, Krampus. This movie has some excellent and not very not excellent creature design. It's got a great cast. A refreshing take on some holiday troupes and some genuinely scary and genuinely funny moments. However, does it have that ever sought after "Holiday Classic" potential? You'll have to listen to this week's episode in order to find out. The boys also sampled two new brews of course. Eddie had Narwhal by Sierra Nevada and Tony sipped on a Snowflyer porter from Rusty Rails. For their full beer review and their Untappd ratings of these brews, stick around for the end of the episode.

  • Episode 147: Klaus (2019) - Lock Street Brewing Company & Troegs Independent Brewing

    01/12/2019 Duration: 01h59s

In episode 147, Tony & Eddie sit down to talk about the newest Netflix's original Christmas film, Klaus (2019). Over the years we've found out that it's difficult to create a Christmas classic. At least one that's recognizable as such in the beginning. So, that's the big question this week - does Klaus have enough holiday magic to stand apart? Does the throwback animation-style tickle the fancy of Christmas lovers everywhere? Is there enough joy here to keep it bright for season to come? Find out in this week's episode. The boys also sampled new brews from Lock Street Brewing and Troegs Independent Brewing Company. Stick around until the end of the episode to hear our detailed brew reviews and to hear what we score them on the Untappd app.

  • Episode 146: Dawn of the Dead (1978) - Iron City Beer & Southern Tier Brewing Company

    24/11/2019 Duration: 01h06min

In episode 146, Tony & Eddie sit down to talk about an oldie - but is it a goody? The 1978 George Romero cult-classic favorite, Dawn of the Dead was a film that changed the genre. Critics like Ebert gave this film 4/4 stars when it was released. Many other critics called it the "best horror film ever made" at the time. Most of us know that it's a film that received high praise - but how has it aged? Does it still deliver a stellar story with gore, struggle and does its social commentary ring true today? Listen to this week's episode to find out. The boys also reviewed two new beers this week. Iron City Beer Premium Lager can actually be spotted in this film, so Eddie found that and gave it a whirl. Tony's choice, a little more distinguished, was a Nitro Creme Brulee from Southern Tier.

  • (Mini) Episode 145 - Troegs Mad Elf

    17/11/2019 Duration: 43min

In mini episode 145, Tony & Eddie sit down to review a holiday brew. Troegs, Mad Elf. For the boys, Mad Elf is one of the original holiday brews. One of the original big boys on the ABV level. One of the original greats. But has it stood up over the years? How much nostalgia is at play here? We also talk about the hot new streaming content subscription, Disney+. If you're thinking about getting Disney+ and you needed to hear to idiots discuss it first - we've got the perfect episode for you! We'll do a full beer review of Mad Elf at the end of the show via the Untappd app. Merry early Christmas, Cinefantics!

  • Episode 144: Not That Far From Home - Lavery Brewing and New Belgium

    10/11/2019 Duration: 01h03min

In episode 144, Tony & Eddie sit down to talk about the newest installment of our favorite wall crawler - you guessed it. This week we're talking Spiderman: Far From Home. The boys loved Tom Holland's first run as the spectacular high-schooler, but does the sequel follow in those footsteps? Tom Holland is still here delivering his adorable portrayal, but we've got a new location, new villain, and of course - no more snappy dialogue with Tony Stark. The question is - do these changes take us in a good new direction? Or a bad one? The boys also sample two new beers this week. Tony samples a local brew from Lavery Brewing and Eddie has a new cream ale from New Belgium. Check out this week's episode for detailed reviews of the brews and the film.

  • (Mini) Episode 143 - Left Hand Brewing & DuClaw Brewing Company

    03/11/2019 Duration: 42min

In episode 144, Tony & Eddie sit down to talk two new beers but skip the movie review. Well, folks - It's time to switch gears from spooky season to Thanksgiving and Christmas and in this week's episode the boys talk about their family seasonal traditions. Everything from cranberry sauce with/without the can bumps to whether or not you like you stuffing in-bird or Stove Top brands. Check out this week's episode and tell us how you like your holidays too look!

  • Episode 142: Amazon Attacks!!! - Hi-Wire Brewing & Southern Tier

    27/10/2019 Duration: 01h08min

In episode 142, Tony & Eddie talk about the reboot of the 1988 Child's Play. This power-cast sets the bar high at the gate. But is there enough there to push the admittedly hokey premise into the realm of viable? Speaking of hokey premise - this is a radical new take on the evil doll - does the Amazon-ish ecosystem presented in this movie highlight real fear that the people of the world are truly worried about or does it fall flat? So many questions to be answered here. So many jokes to be told. Check out this week's episode for the full review. Speaking of spooky season, Tony sampled a new pumpkin beer from Southern Tier. Pumking Nitro is a new variant on an ultra popular fan-favorite. Eddie tries a new IPA from Hi-Wire Brewing. Does it fit his now-standard IPA criteria? All that and more is in this week's Scary Spooky Halloween finale! Check it out.

  • Episode 141: I'm Not Trapped Here With You

    20/10/2019 Duration: 01h13s

In episode 141, Tony & Eddie sit down to talk about the directorial debut form Josh Lobo - I Trapped the Devil (2019). That's right folks - it's another scary flick for the spooky October season. This one maybe have flown under the radar for most. The question is - should it have? I Trapped the Devil is a flick about an estranged brother with a history of mental illness who claims to have barricaded the devil in his basement when his brother and sister-in-law drop in for a holiday visit. Is he crazy? Is the voice behind the door a man, or something more sinister? These are the questions the audience is left to answer on their own. The boys also sampled new brews from Sly Fox Brewery and Puhaste Brewing. Find out more about the movie, get the boy's reviews on the Cinemantics rating scale and listen to their full brew reviews along with their Untappd ratings in this week's episode!

  • Episode 140, The Dead Don't Die (2019) - New Holland Brewing & Fat Heads

    13/10/2019 Duration: 58min

In episode 140, Tony & Eddie get into the holiday spirit (the spooky holiday spirit) as they review The Dead Don't Die (2019). This movie packs a hell of cast. There's star power for days - but how about plot power? With all that talent - is this flick character driven? What about aesthetics - are they grim and dreary but with poignant poise? Those questions and many more will be answered in this weeks film review. Check it out! Have you heard about "white stouts"? Are you a fan? Do you hate them? How about these current and timely Oktoberfest season - do you love this time of year? This week Eddie samples a New Holland Dragon's Milk White. Tony got his hands on a Fat Heads G'Suffa. Check out this week's episode to see what they thought and you'll also see what they score the beers on the Untappd app.
