  • (Mini) 218: Riverside Brewing and Mast Brewing Company

    02/05/2021 Duration: 52min

In this month's mini episode, Tony & Eddie kick back with two light beers that bring solid flavor. There's no boozy barrel-aged brews here. Just some of the classic styles (ale and stout) with a tiny bit of frills. But is this a bad thing? Tune in to find out.

  • Episode 218: Stowaway (2021) - Drake's Brewing & Founders Brewing

    25/04/2021 Duration: 01h15min

In episode 218, appropriately named, "Slowaway" by Tony, the boys review the new Netflix original space flick, Stowaway (2021). The premise of this movie is alluring to say the least. On a space missions to Mars, everything has to be planned perfectly. Life support, food, power, materials and supplies. Everything measured. Everything accounted for. So what happens with a stowaway ends up on a space craft? This film attempts to tell us. But is it successful? The boys also try two new beers selected for them by Patreon supporters. Eddie has a ridiculous barrel aged stout at 17.5% ABV and Tony samples a sweeter, safer milkshake IPA from founders. Stick around until the end of the episode for more details and their Untappd rating.

  • Episode 217: Godzilla vs Kong (2021) - Northern Brewer & Founders Brewing

    11/04/2021 Duration: 01h11min

In episode 217, Tony & Eddie discuss the new new newest (or whatever) rendition of a large ape fighting a large lizard, aka Godzilla vs Kong (2021). There have been something like 30 of these films (more?) over the years. There was a lot of hype surrounding this one, and some others in this most recent franchise. Going into a film like this, we're expecting big CGI fights, destruction and ... heart? Does this film deliver on more than that? Is there compelling characters and plot lines? Tune in to see if the boys think so. The boys also had two new beers of course. Tony sampled a beer that Eddie had previously on the show from Founders called, Panther Cub. Eddie brings his newest homebrew to this episode - a Bell's Two Hearted clone.

  • (Mini) 216: Founders Brewing & Pipeworks Brewing Company

    04/04/2021 Duration: 01h02min

In April's mini episode, Tony & Eddie talk a tiny bit about Escape from Tarkov, but mostly just about work, life and of course booze. Tony brings a Pipeworks Brewing double hopped IPA with oats to the show. (Yes, oats). And Eddie goes against tradition and brings a hard seltzer. It's an odd mini, but what else is new?

  • Episode 215: Synchronic (2019) - Great Lakes Brewing & Cigar City Brewing

    28/03/2021 Duration: 01h07min

In this month's Patreon Pick's episode, the Cinefantics picked a time travel trip pick starring, Anthony Mackie. Synchronic came out in 2019 and didn't make much of a stir. However, in recent months it's gaining in popularity and being touted as an exciting new take on the sci-fi genre with and interesting twist on time travelling. We all know Tony hates time travel, so the question remains, could he see past his disdain? Tune in this week to find out. The boys also sampled two new beers selected by Patreon supporters. It was Belgian's all around this month with Eddie's Great lakes Brewing selection and Tony's Cigar City Brewing pick. We also all know that Tony hates Belgian beers. So did this one change his mind?

    21/03/2021 Duration: 01h10min

In episode 214, Tony & Eddie spend... over 8 collective hours watching Zach Snyder's Justice League. Lucky for you, the episode is not as long as the film. HUGE praise is forming for this epic attempt at saving the 2017 outing of the original theatrical cut of the film. Did it pay off? Is it worth it? Is the hype well served here? The boys also had two new beers of course. This week Eddie sampled a new one from Mountains Walking Brewing. A DDH Double IPA with aroma for days did not disappoint. Tony had a Black IPA from a new brewery (for us) called Pipeworks Brewing. Black IPAs are rare in our area so we're always excited to try a new one. Stick around until the end of the episode to see what he thought.

  • Episode 213: I Care A Lot (2020) - New Trail Brewing & Adventurous Brewing

    14/03/2021 Duration: 01h14min

In episode 213, "I Care a Lot ... about money", Tony & Eddie review the hot new(ish) Netflix original, I Care a Lot (2020). You've no doubt heard about this film recently. It's all over ads/Netflix front pages and it's been trending there for some time. Did Tony and & Eddie think the hype was worth it? Tune in this week to find out. The boys also sipped and sampled new brews from New Trail Brewing and Adventurous Brewing. Have you ever had almond in your beer? If that sounds at all interesting, this week's selection from Tony could be for you. What about a crisp sweet triple IPA? Eddie's beer is a flavor onslaught - but does he think that's a good thing?

  • (Mini) Episode 212: Founders Brewing & New Trail Brewing

    07/03/2021 Duration: 55min

In March's mini episode, the boys talk about two new brews that you may want to look out for. Founders Panther Cub is a low(ish) ABV barrel-aged brew that has balanced sweet and roasty notes without the heavy viscous mouth feel of most barrel aged beers. New Trail's Candy Hearts is a hazy lactose IPA that brings sweet and bitter in a unique way. If you haven't had many lactose IPAs, after listening to Tony's review - you might want to seek this one out.

    28/02/2021 Duration: 01h08min

In episode 211, "Ma Rainey, Ma Rainey Let Levee Complainey", Tony & Eddie discuss the Netflix breakout adaptation of, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (2020). This powerhouse cast features the late great Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis positively running a clinic on perfection. The entire film takes place in two rooms and is very much stage adaptation in how claustrophobic it feels - but these actors surely don't seem boxed in. The boys also tried new beer from Cinderlands Beer Company and Toppling Goliath Brewing Company.

  • Episode 210: Love & Monsters (2020) - Cinderlands Beer Company & Lagunitas Brewing

    21/02/2021 Duration: 01h08min

In episode 210, "Zombieland 3", Tony & Eddie talk about Love and Monsters (2020). You've seen this movie before. Even if you haven't. Or at least, you've seen a movie that this movie is a carbon copy of. At least we'd guess you have. Step-for-step, this movie feels through and through, like a Zombieland echo. However, does that make it a bad film? Or maybe that's a good thing? The boys sampled news beers from Cinderlands Beer Company and Lagunitas Brewing.

  • Episode 209: See You Yesterday (2018)- Southern Tier & Left Hand

    14/02/2021 Duration: 01h10min

In episode 209, "Live, Die, Repeat", Tony & Eddie sit down to discuss another movie from Tony's favorite topic, time travel. See You Yesterday (2018), is the full-length directorial debut from Stefon Bristol. This movie pumps out Stranger Things and Goonies vibes, with a time travel twist. However, it's also heavy with commentary on the social injustices here in America. The boys also sample new brews of course. In episode 208, "Big Monke", Tony & Eddie prep for the upcoming Godzilla VS Kong movie by checking out 2017's, Kong: Skull Island. This movie is, start to finish - a FUNtastic ride. It's Summer blockbuster to a tee. It's big explosions, big one-liners, big creatures and big monke. If you're looking for a breather from the idle natures of this mostly quarantined world - this flick could trip our trigger and need for escape. The boys also sampled two new brews. Tony has a huge 13.1% beer from Lagunitas and Eddie sipped an 80 IBU IPA from Fat Head's. Both are received and then reviewed well. Stick around until the end of the episode to get detailed beer reviews and ratings on the Untappd app.

  • Episode 206: Under the Silver Lake (2018) - Mountains Walking & Rusty Rail Breweries

    24/01/2021 Duration: 01h15min

In January's Patreon Picks episode, number 206, Tony & Eddie discuss a film about the aimless and forcefully turbulent lives of young people. Under the Silver Lake (2018), is a film starring Andrew Garfield who plays an unemployed, very bored 30 something who's dying to find the "message" he's convinced the world has to show him. The journey towards truth here is convoluted and difficult to follow, but if you're the type of viewer who wants to figure out a puzzle - this could be the film for you. The boys also sampled two new brews. Eddie had a sweet decadent stout from Mountains Walking that's infused with coconut cocoa nibs and more. Tony sipped on a Rusty Rail concoction with hazelnut. Both beers were claiming big sugary flavor profiles, but in the end only one rang true.

  • Episode 205: Tenet (2020) OmmeGang Brewery & New Trail Brewing

    17/01/2021 Duration: 01h13min

In episode 205, Tony & Eddie sit down to talk about Tenet. There's a ton to unpack here. This movie's premise is lofty. It's ambitious. And the boys aren't sure it delivers. On some levels this is a masterpiece. On others, it's floundering a bit. Tune in this week to hear the boys tell you what's worth checking out here. They also sampled two new beers. One from OmmeGang, a New England style IPA. And another from New Trail Brewery, a Christmas Ale. As always, stick around until the end of the episode to see what the boys rated these two new brews.

    03/01/2021 Duration: 01h17min

In episode 203, the first show of 2020, Tony & Eddie sit down to talk about Wonder Woman 1984. We'll be honest, folks - this movie is a train wreck. Not very often do Tony & Eddie agree to a T - but they both have lots of things to call out in this film. From bad character development (or none at all), a lack of relationships or connections, almost no real reason for the film to happen in the 80s ... we'll stop the list there. It's just a rough watch. The boys also talk bread baking, and some New Year's thoughts and resolutions as they review two new beers. Tony has a double (or triple) IPA from Lagunitas and Eddie samples a limited edition stout from 11th hour.

Tis' the season for heavy beers and both of these deliver.
