  • REPLAY: Four At-Home Ways to Boost Your Migrating Motor Complex If You Have Endo Belly or SIBO

    26/04/2024 Duration: 20min

We are taking a short season break, so in the meantime, I’m revisiting some old episodes that have been asked about or requested over on Instagram. Enjoy and see you soon with some new episodes! The migrating motor complex is a wave like emotion that occurs in the small intestine, not large, between meals and overnight. This wave motion clears out any old food debris and bacteria once food has already passed through into the large intestine, so basically, see the MMC as the washing up, once all the leftover food has been cleared off the dinner plates.  Now, the MMC is crucial for good gut health and when it slows down, we get a build-up of bacteria and old food, this means that not only is there a constant supply of food debris in the small intestine for bacteria to munch on, but every time food enters the small intestine, that food will be munched too.  Read more. • How to Optimise Digestion for Less Endo Belly

    21/04/2024 Duration: 26min

Today we’re doing another clip from my course, Live and Thrive with Endo 2.0 as I am still getting over covid and what has turned out to be several of the most stressful days I’ve ever experienced (more on that another time). During the past couple of days, I’ve not had access to the internet and so I wasn’t able to share that the course doors were closing for enrolment or even actually close the doors, so if you want to sigh up, you still can. I’m likely going to leave the doors open until Sunday or Monday, so just for a few more days. Today’s lesson is all about first line therapies for optimising digestion, this is one lesson of three and this one is mainly about how you’re eating and what you’re eating. If you have a lot of bloating and endo belly, I would really pay attention to the sections on chewing, mindful eating and boosting stomach acid, digestive enzymes and bile and work on those first. If you’re curious about the course, you can learn more at www.theendobellycoach.com/live-thrive-with-endo or j

  • Your Brain, Pain and the Vagus Nerve

    13/04/2024 Duration: 36min

Today I have an exciting episode for you! I’m still full of covid or flu, on top of preparing for my course Live and Thrive with Endo 2.0 which begins on Monday, and packing to take our rescue kitten back to the UK - today! So, there’s a lot going on - no wonder I got sick! So, instead of doing a replay episode, I thought I’d give you a peak into what I’m woking on in my course, and so today, I am sharing one of my lessons which is all about the science of how pain works and how it can be influenced by the vagus nerve and our nervous system (which are pretty much one and the same, as you’ll come to learn!). This is a great episode to provide you with overall pain education and here’s an interesting fact - pain education actually helps to treat and reduce pain! So that’s a huge benefit of this episode, and the bonus is, if you’re wondering about the course and whether it’s for you, this gives you a little taster as to what’s in store (and remember - there’s a 14 day return policy too). If you’re curious about

  • High and Low Oestrogen Levels and How to Test Correctly

    09/03/2024 Duration: 27min

This week we’re staying on our theme of hormone testing and we’re looking at oestrogen. There are a number of signs to look out for with oestrogen dominance or excess, and they pretty much all fall under the PMS umbrella, but here are a few tale-tell signs that I often see with clients. If you’ve noticed symptoms of hormonal imbalances but you’d like some help working it out all out, I wanted to let you know I have two one on one coaching spaces becoming available in the next several weeks. I work with endo clients one on one for at least six months to address root causes and reduce pain, gut health problems, chronic fatigue and hormonal imbalances to name a few. (Trigger warning: This episode discusses infertility) Okay so this week we’re moving onto hormones and how to test for them. Today, we’re beginning with one that I see a lot of my clients having problems with and that’s low progesterone. I did a progesterone 101 a year or two ago which covered everything from what progesterone is, to what it does in the body and signs of it being too low or too high, but let’s do a recap of some classic low progesterone symptoms. • REPLAY: What is The Menstrual Cycle and How to Know If Yours is Healthy

    09/02/2024 Duration: 28min

Today’s episode is a replay as I have been in and out of hospital all week undergoing testing for coeliac disease and chronic appendicitis. As you can imagine, these appointments have eaten into both my time and energy, so I am resharing an old episode today! One that I think provides you with a great foundations for the rest of the year. Today I am resharing my episode about what you should look for in a healthy menstrual cycle, even with endometriosis (because just because you have endo, doesn’t mean you have to suffer with a terrible cycle). If you notice your cycle does not match up with what I share today, you may have some hormonal imbalances, which can be improved, even with endo, and I’ll link to some episodes so you can further identify what you may be experiencing. • Signs You’re Low in Vitamin D and How it Affects Endo

    02/02/2024 Duration: 19min

Recently, I’ve had a lot of low levels or deficiencies show up with clients. Many of them were experiencing low moods, cyclical pain or heavy menstrual bleeding, fatigue, heart palpitations, aching muscles, and overall feelings of inflammation. Whilst yes, these can all be due to or linked to endometriosis, we have to be careful about blaming everything on endo and not investigating these kind of situations further. In some of these cases, I suspected low iron and in others low vitamin D, or low B12, depending on the symptoms presenting. I think many of us just don’t always believe these essential nutrients can make such a big difference, but they absolutely can. And lo and behold, each client I tested, was low in the nutrients I suspected and felt a significant difference with prescription level supplements. So, I’m not sharing this to show off and prove I was right – I’m sharing this to alert you to the fact that some of your symptoms may not just be endo. Read more. • Why Your Endo May Be Worse in January

    26/01/2024 Duration: 25min

Today’s episode is continuing with the theme of why some of your conditions may be worse in January, and today, we’re focusing on endometriosis. Before we get into it, this is a short episode where I am giving you an overview of some of the ways these things can affect people with endo, but it’s not an exhaustive list. In fact, each of these topic areas could have their own episode with a deep dive into how the science works in regards to hormones, inflammation, liver function and so on, but rather than overwhelm you with a bunch of science, I am keeping in what you need to know and have linked to some further resources if you want to learn more. Additionally, the strategies I’m suggesting are very much top line suggestions, but if you go to last week’s episode and listen from 14 minutes in, I give a much more detailed breakdown of how to make these changes there. • Why Your PMDD May Be Worse in January

    19/01/2024 Duration: 31min

It’s a New Year and perhaps you’re feeling the pressure to get up and go, but you can’t get yourself out of bed. Maybe you’re in more pain than usual, perhaps you’re more depressed than usual or maybe you’re experiencing extreme fatigue and energy crashes? If this is you, please know you’re not alone. As I return to work, I’ve received many emails from endometriosis clients telling me their symptoms are worse and they’re panicked, but I’ve also had friends and endo clients who struggle with Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) experiencing heightened symptoms. And even for me, my anxiety, bladder pain and adhesion pain are worse. This is not uncommon. In fact, in my line of work, it’s expected that many people will have worsening periods or hormonal problems in January. Read more. • REPLAY: New Year Meditation for Endometriosis

    12/01/2024 Duration: 35min

With a new year beginning, I am resharing a very old meditation episode. This episode is a visualisation meditation to help you envision how you want to feel in 2024. I use this visualisation exercise with every one of my clients, to help them see the big picture they want for their health and then to take that big picture and break it down into small, attainable goals. I also use this meditation with course students and with anyone who comes to my free workshops, so you may very well know it! The key question you will be asking yourself in this meditation is - what if you thrived with endometriosis in 2024? What would your body feel like? What would your life look like? You’ll be invited to envision what your life would be like if you did thrive and if you didn’t - and what one accessible step could you take towards this vision of the future. Make sure you have a journal to hand, a pen and an hour to really sit with this episode and go deep with this powerful meditation. If now isn’t a good time to do this

  • Signs You’re Low in Iron and What to Look For on Blood Tests

    04/01/2024 Duration: 16min

I am seeing a bit of a growing trend with my clients and students – and that’s low iron levels. But they’re not alone. Iron deficiency or low iron levels are extremely common, in fact, iron deficiency anaemia is the most common nutritional deficiency in the world, with menstruators being one of the most affected groups. The problem with this, is that low iron levels are often disregarded as not a big deal, because the problem is so pervasive, yet low iron levels can significantly affect our quality of life and reproductive health. • How to Minimise Sugar Impact This Festive Season

    21/12/2023 Duration: 15min

The Christmas season is typically, a time of excess for those who celebrate – and even for those who don’t, New Year’s is right around the corner. For many people, we increase our intake of sugar, alcohol, processed foods, etc. and that’s okay – this episode isn’t about judgement. I love Christmas, including all the food that comes with it, but for many of us, the result can be more pain and a worse period come January, due to heightened inflammation levels. So today’s episode is all about how to lower the impact of added sugar and blood sugar spiking foods, to lessen inflammation and hormonal imbalances.  Read more.
