This conspiracy-laden episode features Jesse Hill, comedian and possibly also the inspiration for Bruce Willis' character in Unbreakable.

Francis Ford Coppola's third outing with Nicolas Cage results in Peggy Sue Got Married, featuring young Master Cage as a twenty-two year-old playing a forty year-old that flashes back into a seventeen year-old. All the while he maintains an accent something along the lines of a more lifelike Professor Frink. Wait, that's just Jerry Lewis. So I guess a cartoonier Jerry Lewis? No, that seems wrong too. I'm gonna go sit on this one a bit and hopefully won't accidentally hit publish before I think of a better joke.

Consider The Boy in Blue as the film industry's final, bated inhalation before Nicolas Cage picks up the definition of a Hollywood star and dashes it upon the rocks of his performance like so much detritus, and also Josh Blubaugh, Richmond's funniest comic, is also there to make gags and goofs along with your lovely two brother hosts. Birdy is the first legitimately great movie we've had the pleasure to watch here on Trapped in the Cage with Nicolas Cage, and it's just your two brothers Alex and Josh talking about things today. Somehow, we have our strangest overall film coalescing with the most restrained yet powerful performance Nicolas Cage had given as 1984, and yet we're still talking about it as one of his greatest of all times. Also, we envision the colorful ways in which a bird may engage in sexual congress with a full adult man, so I guess that's why the show is better when someone else is on the panel keeping us from going Full Weird Brothers.

This might be Francis Ford Coppola's worst film, and I'm including the weird thing he did with Val Kilmer he did a few years back. I bet you forgot about Twixt, didn't you? We remember, Francis. We do. Join us for a spirited discussion of the Jazz Age period piece gangster flop, The Cotton Club, featuring a rapey Richard Gere, Bob Hoskins walking away with the picture, and a very special guest star, Richmond comic Phil Ivanhoe. Hoo boy, today's something of a double goof, and you can blame each individual goof on each brother. First, Alex didn't set up the recording equipment right, so the audio quality's a bit off, and Josh managed to not get a copy of The Cotton Club in time because Frankie Ford Coppola is super ashamed of it. HOWEVER! We found the legit first professional acting work for Our Sainted Cage, an ABC pilot called The Best of Times. It's only forty-eight minutes long, and it's all right here on Youtube. Check it out and come right back, because you get to see a very young Nicolas Coppola pointing at his biceps, screaming, and then debating the nature of being young and called up to war and using that story to get some trim. For this melodramatic World War 2 period piece, you've got nothing but your favorite two brothers, Alex and Josh, on this episode. Wait, we're probably not your two FAVORITE brothers. I mean, I hope if you've got a real related brother you like them more than us. Respect if you think we're better, though, no shade thrown on someone's messed-up family sitch. Finally, after this one we're back on track, and we aim to stay that way! Valley Girl is pretty worth it, though. We get the first moment where Nicolas Cage hits Peak Cage, almost Super Saiyan-like in his bizarre fury. It's a weird picture, but man, do we dig deep for this milestone performance.
