Rival mobster families, and late night warehouse showdowns make for a classic 1920's gangster story. It's time for the first ever, Bone Throwers Theater Christmas Special. Aaron takes the reins and drives the sleigh through the cold winter night for a new game for the podcast, Capers. In this episode, we polish off character creation, set the scene in the 1920s for this Christmas story, and get our first look at the rule set involving a deck of cards rather than dice. We dive pretty deep in this commentary episode, unpacking a lot of key story points already in play during the debut session of Season 4. We talk character growth, inspirations from the writings of Jim Butcher, and how we find story telling very fulfilling. This game has been listed as an inspiration for the show since the beginning, and we finally got around to playing it, so we had a lot of fun talking about it in this commentary episode. Although Jordan reveals the amount of homework he did for this story, as usual, the player's choices didn't always line up to bring out those details. But it was quite interesting hearing the depth of the story shared after the fact. About a day's journey from Consiglio, the group does some scouting in the underground town of Dinfor. All is not well the North Bellasaira, but that's not a total surprise as their exit from the city months before did indeed spark a revolution. One of the party is recognized by the military, and they again have to make a quick escape on the final leg back to the capital city. We kick of season 4 as the party makes their was back to Consiglio via airship. In this episode we see the beginnings of a rejuvenated teamwork effort, even from the most unexpected characters.
