March is Women’s History Month, Music in our Schools Month, Arts Education Month, and Standing With Immigrant Families Awareness Month. Our VAPA offices are now physically open from 8AM-3PM, Monday through Friday. Please be sure to make an appointment if you need to stop by, pick up technology, and/or turn in any forms. Appointments can be made by calling the school at 323-357-7531. Please be sure to download the daily pass app for screening and adhere to LA County Public Health guidelines such as wearing a mask. The daily pass app can be downloaded at dailypass.lausd.net We have resumed in-person tutoring, on a limited basis on campus daily from 2:30-3:30 pm. Tutoring is 1-1 and once a week. All are welcome. We will be discussing budgets for the new year. We will have an open meeting next week for any of our community to discuss budget priorities for the new year. This is a good time for students and families to check-in with their teachers to be sure they are clear about requirements for every course. Every day, the day will start at nine in the morning for all classes but students will be released at Twelve-Forty in the afternoon on Mondays. The School Experience Survey deadline is Feb. 5. We have only 2 weeks remaining in the Fall semester. I encourage all of our students to complete any missed work and work closely with their teachers and to do their best to pass every class with a C or better. Many teachers are offering virtual tutoring. This week we have a Toy Drive is this week. Please bring new, unopened and unwrapped toys to the VAPA Office, the Welcome Center, or the Sports Conditioning check-in. The last day of the drive is Friday. A few weeks ago, I sent out information about free and critical COVID19 testing. This week testing will be begin for the South Gate Community of Schools. Please reserve an appointment today. The testing center site has been moved to International Studies Learning Center Middle School campus across the street from the Legacy High School Complex. Congratulations to all of our students being recognized in our VAPA Honor Roll Assembly this Monday, online at 1 pm. This week we will continue with our 1:1 in-person Tutoring Program at VAPA.
