Shorts Cast is here to tell the story behind the beer and characters of Shorts Brewing Company. Shorts began as a brew pub in Bellaire, Michigan in 2004 and has grown to be one of the largest breweries in the great state of Michigan. The show is recorded from the brew pub in Bellaire, or the bottling facility in Elk Rapids.     That's right you've tried the beer, you've watched the YouTube videos, and now it's time for Ralph Whistler to join the podcast world. If you don't know the story of how pub brewer Luke Whitley named a beer after Ralph Whistler you're about to hear the truth. Seriously, it's a pretty candid interview. Luke and Ralph meet for the first time to talk about Ralph's career as the greatest whistler in the world.  Ralph has performed all over the world, he was even on the Johnny Carson show. Now he's performing around Michigan with his band the Whistling Muthers. You'll hear a live performance from Ralph and his guitar player Brian. They pull out a tune called "Peanut Butter Baby." We want to thank Ralph for making this interview happen, and for coming up to Bellaire from Port Huron to help Short's Brewing Company celebrate 12 years of brewing.     Bridgett and Woj head north to Petoskey to visit one of Short's Brewing Company's longtime accounts, City Park Grill. A historic restaurant in the heart of downtown Petoskey. You'll hear from manager Mike Zagaroli as well as chefs Erin Conger and Jeremy Pomeroy.  They chat about the long history of City Park Grill which was a frequent hang out of Ernest Hemingway. There are rumors that the restaurant is haunted by one of the original owners and this story inspired an infamous Short's beer which is now known as ControversiALE. This is big news for us so Bridgett and Woj sit down with the men behind the cans; Quality Manager Tyler Glaze, and Art Director Jesse Den Herder.  Tyler drops the knowledge of why Short's decided to can their beer and the impact it has had on the production facility. He also gives an in depth analysis on how the can handles that Space Rock you're about to consume. We're talking ESPN breakdown analysis.  Jesse Den Herder talks about the challenges of converting the Short's label art from bottle to cans, and he did a mighty fine job with the designs.     Short's Cast is on the road again and this time we're headed to Saginaw to go BOWLING?! Stardust Lanes is a family owned bowling alley committed to craft beer. They've carried Short's brews since 2011.  Bridgett and Woj sit down with Owner, Derek Richards and Food & Beverage Manager, Mike Sassone. They give us insight into the growing craft beer culture in Saginaw and the process behind Stardust's 41 taps that are all devoted to craft beer.  Stardust Lanes was built by Joesph Deisler who had a love for Las Vegas. So much so that he built a bowling alley inspired by his favorite casino, the Stardust Casino. Mr. Deisler must have had some good times in Vegas, because we had some great times in Saginaw.     It's time for another installment of Short's Cast's Live Music Series! We're stoked to be talking to Graham Parsons of The Go Rounds. They hail from Kalamazoo and will be performing at The Short's Anni Party XII taking place in downtown Bellaire on April 30th, 2016.  The Go Rounds have been touring the great state of Michigan since 2009 and Graham is the lead vocalist and songwriter. They are known for their highly energetic and well crafted songs.     It's time for another field trip kids! This time we're heading just up the road from our production facility in Elk Rapids, to a little town called Kewadin. That's where, deep in the woods, lies the legendary Dog Farm and the home of our dear friend and co-worker, Jack Archiable.  Today Short's Cast is learning all about Michigan maple syrup. It's an ingredient that is vital to a favorite Short's brew, Woodmaster, (going on tap at the pub soon). Jack Archiable guides Woj and Bridgett on a hike into the woods to talk about his hobby of producing maple syrup. Crunchy's is one of Short's longest standing accounts.
