Jacob 5   In this chapter, trees are not trees and roots are not roots. Jacob preserves for us the prophet Zenos's allegory. An allegory is a story that teaches spiritual truths using symbols. These truths can be likened to all of God's children, showing His efforts on bringing all of us unto Him.

Jacob 4 As I studied and pondered about the writings of Jacob - the are precious and relatively few - it occurred to me that Jacob is directing us to where we can gain true confidence. It is in Jesus, the stone to that gives us a firm foundation.  

Jacob 2: 22 - Jacob 3 The prophet Lehi was given the commandment from the Lord that his seed should have 1 wife and no concubines. Despite the removal of the Lord's presence among the Lamanites, they had kept this commandment. The Nephites, however, were beginning to look for justifications to violate this commandment. Boldly, Jacob addresses the thoughts of the Nephites and delivers, with clarity, how the Lord values the chastity of His people. In this week's podcast, also learn how the "pure in heart" can find consolation and support from the Lord when they have been wounded or are in need of drawing closer to Him. He delights in your goodness and desires to bless you.

Jacob 1-2   The small plates have now been passed on to Jacob from Nephi. In this episode we discuss the counsel that Nephi gave Jacob regarding the record keeping and pay respect to these brethren who labored faithfully, anxiously, and diligently to bring the people unto Christ. After the death of Nephi, Jacob's work continued. His work led him to the temple to speak to the people about their pride. God had blessed them with riches, but the people began to fall for the deception that this made them better than their fellowmen who had less. Join me and ponder how you can use your "riches" to bless the lives of others.

2 Nephi 32-33   We have finally finished the words of Nephi and his last words and instruction for us do not disappoint. Did you know that because you have been baptized and received the Holy Ghost, you are entitled to speak with the tongue of angels? This week's episode explores what this means and how the beloved prophet Nephi encourages us to pray until we do understand this principle.

2 Nephi 31   Nephi is at the end of his prophesying. What is the final message he desires to leave his people and us? It is the doctrine of Christ. Because of the example of Jesus Christ, it is clear as to how to enter the gate that leads back to Father. On this week's episode we learn that the Savior gave us His perfect example when He was baptized.

2 Nephi 30 Within this chapter is a promise that I believe we can especially enjoy this time of year during the Christmas Season. It is the promise of the scales of darkness falling from us and the potential of becoming a pure and a delightsome people. Learn how we can do this and ponder on how you can experience this blessing of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ immediately.

2 Nephi 28-29   The marvelous work and wonder is God showing us that He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He speaks to the children of men. He reveals His word unto us. He is restoring His gospel among us and the Book of Mormon is the indicator that God is keeping His word to us. That is why it is disappointing that some will say "A Bible! A Bible! We have got a Bible and there cannot be any more Bible.” Let's commit to look forward to more revealed words of God and add upon what we all ready have.

2 Nephi 28   Preserved in the Book of Mormon are the tactics of the adversary intended to deceive and distract us from being disciples of Jesus Christ. When we better understand these tactics, we won't be as vulnerable to the precepts of men. We will know that there is a God, that He is powerful, and that He is a God of miracles. When we know and act upon these truths, there will not be room for the devil to have a grasp upon us.

2 Nephi 26: 20-22; 29-30, 2 Nephi 27: 1-4, 2 Nephi 28   Priestcraft. That is an odd word to us that isn't used in our every day conversation. This week's episode explores what priestcraft is so that we can better use our discernment to avoid its deception.

2 Nephi 26: 23-27; 33   Nephi asked 4 questions to plainly teach us the relationship that the Savior desires to have with us. Interestingly, the answer to all of the questions is No. Intellectually, we get it, but our hearts often struggle to fully accept the scope of the Savior's love for us and the far reaching effects of His atonement.

2 Nephi 26: 13-17 and 2 Nephi 27   The coming forth of the Book of Mormon was foretold as the way that the Lord will manifest himself unto us according to our faith. What does this mean? Why is this book so important to Him?   As you read the above verses, especially 2 Nephi 27: 23-35, the Lord tells us EXACTLY why the Book of Mormon is important. If we believe and accept His purposes and His intentions, than it makes sense that there is no other book that can bring us closer to Jesus Christ than the Book of Mormon. This week's episode helps us to pick out the Lord's intentions and to apply them to our lives.

2 Nephi 26 Nephi now addresses the third group of God's children - the Gentiles. He begins by teaching them that they must be convinced that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God. How are we convinced of this truth? According to our faith, the Lord will manifest himself unto us through the Holy Ghost. I encourage you to accept the invitation of our prophet to exercise your faith in reading D&C 25, 84, and 107 to learn about the power of the priesthood we possess because of our obedience to the covenants we've made. By doing so, this is how we can allow the Savior to manifest himself unto us. Join Us in this challenge!

2 Nephi 26

2 Nephi 25: 21-   What is grace? Nephi has a message for his people as he is wrapping up his account. He desires for his people to know that it is Christ they are made alive in because of their faith. Grace, the enabling power of God, is a huge component of this truth. Listen and learn how you can more intimately identify grace at work in your life.

2 Nephi 25: 10-20   Nephi boldly testifies to us that there is no other name under heaven then the name Jesus Christ that can do all that is required in order for us to be restored once again to the Father. As Nephi addresses the Jews in Jerusalem, he makes it clear the restoring power that Jesus Christ will provide for them and for us through His infinite atonement. This week, learn all that He will restore Learn what clean hands and pure hearts mean. Learn the scope of the word infinite. Learn to love the man behind the name Jesus Christ.

2 Nephi 25 Nephi uses the word "Plain" alot! He delights in plainness, he says. What does that mean? How is this not only beautiful doctrine, but also an attribute that describes both Nephi and our Savior?

Since our study of Isaiah has spread out for several weeks, and because Isaiah's poetic writings aren't necessarily divided into chapters like they are in the Book of Mormon, I decided that a recap of his highlights may be helpful. I hope you enjoy!

2 Nephi 24   I love the insight that Isaiah gives to us about our adversary, Lucifer. His pride has eliminated himself from the eternal progression that we are all engaged in. The imagery that Isaiah provides show us there will be a time, when Lucifer is leashed, that we will have an opportunity to gaze upon him - truly him - and not all his false power and deception. What will we think? What will we observe? This week's episode explored those thoughts and reminds you of how powerful you are. You are doing better than you think you are doing. I promise!
