For the second week in a row... the Leftover Army Monsters wade into the sludge at the bottom of the Kaiju barrel. This week, we talk about the 1976 movie called APE. You MIGHT get this confused with the 1976 King Kong remake... and wouldn't you know it, that's what the makers of this dime store atrocity are hoping for. Well, grab your Spencer's Gifts gorilla costume, and get your porn parody ready, and join us as we talk about this terrible moive... APE!!

This week, the Leftover Army Monsters are traveling to a place of despair. We are walking into the back alleys of the kaiju genre, all the way back to 1999/2001 for a joint Korean/American movie called Yonggary/Reptilian. With the rising use of CGI effects, and the financial, NOT critical success of the 1998 American Godzilla movie, these people decided to make this shameless cash grab. But is it as bad as I am saying, or does it traverse into the "so bad it's good" realm? Only one way to find out, so grab your bad blue screened jetpacks and join us as we dive into this smelly kaiju armpit.

Put on your spacesuits, because this week the Leftover Army Monsters travel to Venus... The PLANET Venus? YES! The planet Venus... actually we have just returned from Venus. And we brought back with us this classic Ray Harryhausen movie, 20 Million Miles to Earth! A return to stop motion animation we haven't talked about since the first 2 episodes of the show! SHANK WEEK Continues as Kevin Shanks joins David and the Old Man for some good old fashion griping! Rants about the Superbowl, Aladdin trailers and Talent shows kick off the show. Then the boys discuss the Endgame trailer, Russian Doll and True Detective season 3. Kevin and the Old Man also gush about the new Hulu original Pen15 and why it may be the most authentic portrayal of Jr. High ever. Of course WTF News is full of stupid people from Florida and the show ends with some helpful gift ideas for your sweetie this Valentine's Day. The show is mostly garbage, UNLESS you enjoy David ripping on the Old Man, and if you are one of those assholes, you will love it! FML...

This week, the Leftover Army Monsters head back into the Toho universe, with special guest Jesse Candelori, as we talk about the highly acclaimed Mothra vs Godzilla from 1964. This is the beginning of Toho merging their individual kaiju into the same continuity. Some might call it one of the first every cinematic universes. Others will just call it a great movie. But did we all like the movie as much as kaiju fans usually do? Only one way to find out. So grab your fly swatters and your radiation suit, as we head to a great kaiju clash!

The guys are joined by Rebekah Dahling of The Animated Batcast and Number One Comic Books. She brings a flavor of royalty to the show that we have not seen yet. Things get heated on this episode as Rebekah does not stand down to the mistreatment of the women in this movie. They get a little off track early with talk of Power Rangers (don't ask just listen). About 20 minutes in they finally dive into the movie. Shockingly Shawn doesn't have a single story, Quinton was shocked too. This week the Leftover Army Monsters dive into the deep end of the more absurd realms of the kaiju genre, as we are talking about the infamous 1975 Hong Kong movie, Super Inframan. Looking to cash in on the super hero tokusatsu craze in Japan, Shaw Brothers Films created this piece of work. It has been used as a shining example of how bad the genre can be for decades... but is it REALLY that bad? Or does it transcend into the "so bad it's good" spectrum? Only one way to find out. So grab yourself some nachos, because we are being heaping loads of cheese with this entry.

The guys are joined by Melissa Sloter of Wild Pretty Things Podcast. Shawn for once doesn't have a story. Quinton was just as shocked as you. The 1960's is referred to as the Kaiju Boom. It was the peak of the age of giant monster movies, with several releasing each year. But before the Boom hit, there was a lull in Japan for the genre. That was until Toho came out with their newest kaiju film, and a monster that is nearly equal in popularity to Godzilla himself, MOTHRA! This week, the Leftover Army Monsters are joined by Rebecca Dahling to discuss Mothra's original solo film from 1961. This week, the Leftover Army Monsters make a long overdue return to the Godzilla franchise! In 2001, the 2nd movie of what is called the Millennium Era was released. The Millennium era started in direct response to the poor reception of America's first attempt at the King of the Monsters. And thus, Toho started a new age for the Big G. This week, we are going deep into Godzilla vs Megaguirus. Our special guest this week, returning to the LOM Podcast is Jesse Candelori. She couldn't join us for the main recording due to an emergency, but listen all the way to the end as I have an hour long discussion with her one on one about the movie in a pickup session. On this episode,again the guys are not alone. They are joined by a close and personal friend of Quinton's. As always they give you a few facts about the year in question and get around to the movie, but before that Shawn talks about meeting Robert Englund (Freddy Kruger) Ken Kirzinger (Jason in this film) and Kane Hodder (Jason in the previous four Friday the 13th films) and his experiences with them. We discuss Freddy Vs Jason and all the easter eggs and homages to previous films in each series, and yes, there are a few. Shawn drops some other easter eggs along the way including information on the two failed Spin-off TV Series. This would be the third of three films under the Horror Sign of The REEL Zodiac. That means this is the last Horror movie the guys will be reviewing in full until December (we say in full because Shawn lives on horror and will be sure to link some movies back to horror films). This also means that we will do our first reimagining episode next week.

This week, the Leftover Army Monsters tackle a classic kaiju movie from South Korea. Or at least we try to. Complete with tons of technical issues from the recording session, this episode was difficult to release. Hopefully it isn't so terrible that you all turn it off. During the height of the Kaiju boom in the mid 1960's, special effects guru and long time worker on the Godzilla franchise, Eiji Tsubaraya, left Toho and started his own production company. This company is best known for creating the giant super hero that is still a fixture in Japan to this day. Join the Leftover Army Monsters as we discuss the first season in the mega hit franchise, the Original Ultraman from 1966.
