  • Popes Against the Modern Errors, Episode 9: Pascendi (Part 3)

    04/03/2023 Duration: 01h14min

In this third episode on Pascendi Dominici Gregis of Pope St Pius X, His Excellency Bishop Donald Sanborn joins us to provide a final commentary on this most significant of Papal encyclicals. Written to expose and condemn the doctrines of the modernists at the start of the 20th century, this encyclical is the defining document of this great Pope Saint’s life and perhaps the most important document to have proceeded from the Vatican in hundreds of years. It served as an alarm call and a condemnation of those most pernicious adversaries of the Church who seek to utterly overthrow Christianity itself. This show is the third of a total of 3 shows to be recorded on Pascendi and covers paragraphs 39 to 55. Join host Matthew Gaskin and His Excellency Bishop Donald Sanborn, rector of Most Holy Trinity Seminary in Brooksville, Florida on this episode of Popes Against the Modern Errors. • From the Pulpit, Episode 42: Joy in Faith and Consistency

    25/02/2023 Duration: 37min

We welcome back +Bishop Daniel Dolan, [then] pastor of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio and Father Nicolás Despósito, seminary professor at Most Holy Trinity Seminary. Bishop Dolan reminds us of how we should continue our lives and our passion for our Faith, even after Lent and Easter Sunday has passed. He ends his sermon with a true story of an Orthodox Jewish rabbi and how even he, one who believed in a false religion that is much stricter than ours, embraced his religion’s laws. Following, Father Despósito explains how we should not only act holy during prayer and attending Mass, but also when we return to our everyday lives. It is easy to feel and act holy when attending Mass or praying with others, but it is important this mentality stays with us throughout all of our lives. Join us on this episode of From the Pulpit. 18/02/2023 Duration: 36min

The most sacred season of the liturgical year is here: Lent. We welcome back Bishop Daniel Dolan, pastor of St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church in West Chester, Ohio, and Father Joseph Selway, assistant pastor of Most Holy Trinity Seminary in Brooksville, Florida. Father Selway starts by taking us through some of the Catholic customs, which are no longer in effect, that are much stricter than what we must abide to today. Following, he continues onto penance. The little discomforts our bodies suffer and the meager pleasures we deny ourselves are nothing compared to eternal bliss; and these sacrifices will gain this for us. Secondly, Bishop Daniel Dolan explains why Lent is necessary for us and why true Catholics undertake penance during the season. Join us on this episode of From the Pulpit. • The Catholic Home, Episode 17: The Man Who Was Chesterton (Part 2)

    11/02/2023 Duration: 55min

Who was the man who wrote the classic apologetic ”Orthodoxy” and the world-renowned Fr. Brown series? This incredibly prolific writer and complete thinker did not leave any subject untouched. Surrounded by the errors of Modernism swarming around him, he used his pen to defend common sense, the common man, and, most importantly, the family. He foresaw how the trends and evils of his day namely, feminism, divorce, materialism, atheism, would eventually destroy the family and society. Not only was he a writer, but also an apologist and essayist, a poet, philosopher, historian, critic and public speaker. Please join our guest, Margaret, as she shares the genius of Chesterton as a debater, some in-depth excerpts from various essays on the family, more humorous paradoxical quotes, his poetry, and finishing off the show with a reading plan suggestion to help our listeners to explore his works on their own! • The Catholic Home, Episode 16: The Head of the Home (Part 2)

    04/02/2023 Duration: 01h07min

A series titled The Catholic Home can’t be considered complete until it covers the subject of the traditional “head” of the Catholic home: the husband, who often is also the father of the family which makes up that home. This particular episode continues on from the first episode in a sub-series on this important topic. Not only husbands but possible future husbands and wives will want to hear the conversation, as our guests, Phil and Damian, expand on the challenges to the role of “husband” and ways to overcome them. Their insights and experiences provide interesting food for thought. We understand that not all Catholic homes have a husband - but even for those of you in such homes, including dedicated single-people, please tune in anyway because we have received very positive feedback from unmarried Catholics, and mothers, who really appreciated our first show on the “Head of the Home”! • The Catholic Home, Episode 15: The Man Who Was Chesterton (Part 1)

    28/01/2023 Duration: 45min

This show introduces the mind of this great champion of orthodoxy and brilliant intellect of the early 20th Century. Surrounded by the errors of Modernism, G.K. Chesterton used his pen, (“words are deeds”) to defend common sense, the common man and the family. He foresaw the devastating effects of the evil trends in our modern society, namely atheism and agnosticism, materialism, and feminism. Not only was he a prolific writer, but he was also an apologist and essayist, a poet, philosopher, historian, critic and public speaker. Our guest, Margaret, takes us on a chronological journey of his life and discusses his zeal, and why Chesterton’s conversion was the most talked about conversion of his day. • The Catholic Home, Episode 14: Cataclysm Survivalism – Stocking the Bookshelves!

    22/01/2023 Duration: 01h09min

St. Jerome says that when we pray we speak to God; but when we read, God speaks to us. St. Ambrose of Milan says the same: "We address him when we pray; we hear him when we read." St. Bernard of Clairvaux tells us that "spiritual reading and prayer are the arms by which hell is conquered and paradise won." What exactly should we be reading during this spiritual and moral worldwide-cataclysm? First and foremost are the best spiritual books we can find and religious writings that help us see through the darkness amidst this post-Vatican II decimation. Sacred Scripture is a given. Dom Gueranger’s, “The Liturgical Year” set also speaks volumes (all fifteen of them). Most of you would also be familiar with gems such as, “Imitation of Christ,” and “The Sinner’s Guide.” Therefore, this episode won’t be covering any of these, nor other commonly-known spiritual books, but will bring to the table some less well known, yet likewise indispensable writings. • In Veritate, Episode 21: Expectation of the Messiah and Gaudete Sunday

    28/12/2022 Duration: 37min

The entire Old Testament looks forward to and is a foreshadowing of the New. Everything is a prefiguration of the New Testament, the Jews were in expectation of the coming of the Messiah. The way for the Messiah was prepared by the numerous prophecies and penultimately by St. John the Baptist. St. John is the greatest of the Old Testament prophets, he is the personification of the entire Old Testament, of the law, of the Prophets, the priesthood, the kings, the sacrifices and everything God did in the Old covenant in order to prepare the Jews for the Messiahs. Advent commemorates that time of humanity, a full 4000 years, when there was no Savior, no Blessed Sacrament, no Penance, no Sacrifice of the Mass -there was only hope. Today the Church rejoices because the Lord is near, this joy has a spiritual and mystical sense. The Lord is near us, this gives us the joy of possessing God in our souls through sanctifying grace. The spiritual joys for which the world affords are so impoverished and fleeting that the

  • In Veritate, Episode 20: Self-Denial and Love of God

    21/12/2022 Duration: 40min

Our ability to do good is paralyzed if we do not deny ourselves. Praying is a great example of self-denial. Our sensual nature is opposed to prayer – it does not please the softness of the body. Unless we mortify our senses and evil inclinations, we become incapable of good. Saints achieved such great heights of virtue due to severe mortifications they practiced. By doing this, they removed all obstacles to the working of the grace of God within them. We must have a holy detestation of this world and prove our love of God by putting aside the world and turning our hearts to Him. Join us on this episode of In Veritate. • In Veritate, Episode 19: Humility and Savagery

    14/12/2022 Duration: 43min

Those who are prideful practice virtue only for worldly esteem. God rewards such virtues only with the good things of this world. These are good only in appearance in as much as they are merely created images of the eternal good. The highest degree of humility is not only to acknowledge our own abjection but to love it and to take delight in it. Not from meanness from soul or cowardice of heart, but from a desire to exalt as we ought the divine majesty and to prefer others far before ourselves. When we say there is a struggle between the spirit and the flesh, between grace and nature, we must understand that flesh and nature should not be understood as what God made: perfection. Instead we are speaking of flesh and nature as stained and wounded by original sin and thus tends towards the commission of evil. Even though we are wounded by original sin, we are still masters of ourselves, we have free will, and with the help of God we can persevere in virtue. Join us on this episode of In Veritate. • In Veritate, Episode 18: Christian Modesty and Succession

    07/12/2022 Duration: 01h02min

This modern world has produced a highly immoral standard of living in regards to dress, modesty, and culture. What is the Catholic response – the response we should take? The true Catholic should obtain his/her standards not from the world’s view, but apply the standards that are set by the Catholic Church. Secondly, the Church rests upon the foundation of Saint Peter which we know because of Jesus’s pronouncement. From this fact we must conclude that any institution or society of Christians which professes to be the true Church of Christ is not the true Church of Christ for the unique reason: it is detached from the succession of Saint Peter. We must also conclude that the profession of the Catholic Faith (public adherence to all of its dogmas and public repudiation of all that the Church considers to be heretical) is an absolute condition of papal power.
