  • Episode 14: John Lee Dumas: Overcoming the Impostor Syndrome

    07/06/2017 Duration: 13min

On today’s show I am joined by the founder and host of the EOFire Podcast, the entrepreneur on fire himself, John Lee Dumas! John may be an entrepreneur now, but he has not always been one. The day he graduated from Providence College, he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S Army. After a 13-month tour of duty in Iraq as an armored platoon leader and a total of eight years in the army, he set out to find a job. He first tried law school, only to drop out after one semester. Then, a couple of jobs in Boston and New York convinced John that Corporate America was not for him. So he landed in San Diego, California working in real estate. He quickly found out that driving will be a big part of his daily routine there, so he was in need of interesting content to listen to. That is when he discovered podcasts: free, targeted, on-demand content. Only one problem: at that time, there were great podcasts out there but none that introduced successful entrepreneurs daily, so his idea was born. A concept for a da

  • Episode 13: Calin Saft: Time is Not Refundable

    02/06/2017 Duration: 03min

My birthday is coming up in a few days so I want to share my thoughts on a quote related to the passing of time that I’ve been pondering over recently: People waste years of their lives and then, they beg for a few moments at the end. This quote belongs to the romanian historian, politician, literary critic, and poet, Nicolae Iorga. It inspires me to take massive action so that each passing day I know that I am one step closer to accomplishing my dreams. It also reminds me of a famous article published in the Guardian a few years ago about the top 5 regrets of the dying, recorded by a palliative nurse. 1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me. 2. I wish I hadn’t worked so hard. 3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings. 4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends. 5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.   Remember that decision/dream/project that you have been postponing for a while now waiting for th

  • Episode 5: Calin Saft: Kill the Nice Guy

    06/05/2017 Duration: 04min

Today I am going to talk about the nice guy syndrome, a concept introduced by Dr. Robert Glover in his best-selling book, No More Mr. Nice Guy. You heard me ask the guests on this podcast about finding the balance between being a “macho jerk” and a “nice guy“. So let’s find out what’s wrong with being a “nice guy” and how we can show up in the world as gentlemen. Well, “nice guys” believe that if they are “good” and do everything right, they will be accepted, loved and get their needs met. That is why they are givers – they fix and caretake. The problem is that they are constantly seeking approval from others, they believe they must hide their perceived flaws and mistakes in order to avoid conflicts, they repress their feelings and have difficulty making their needs a priority. And that is why “nice guys” usually end up feeling extremely frustrated. They cannot see that the reason why their needs remain unmet is precisely the way they show up
