  • Buck Off Podcast: Reviewing the coaches media availability and getting into our players to watch

    02/06/2023 Duration: 01h53min

From now until preseason camp starts in August, Land-Grant Holy Land will be writing articles around a different theme every week. This week is all about players to watch this upcoming season. You can catch up on all of the Theme Week content here and all of our ”Player to Watch” articles here. On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I’m joined by Jordan Williams to get into real science versus fake science, and why you have to look at both. To get the show started, we get into Mickey Marrotti’s lack of accountability and why the issues in the sports science side are due to lack of listening to basic science. After that we get into the other questionable coach on staff, Parker Fleming and the specialists conversation. After that, we turn our attention to the offensive side of the ball and get into what the coaches said to the media this week. We talk about Brian Hartline’s comfort level, Tony Alford’s talented room, Justin Frye’s goals this year as well as the offensive line competition, and

  • I-70 Football Podcast: Kevin Warren, I was rooting for you!

    30/05/2023 Duration: 01h49min

Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s I-70 podcast. On this show, we talk about all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan. Happy Memorial Day from the I-70 Football Podcast! We hope you or someone in your family got on the grill and enjoyed some excellent food. In this episode, Dante and Jordan discuss the retirement of Iowa’s athletic director Gary Barta and his checkered legacy at Iowa. Under Barta, the Hawkeyes won four national championships in wrestling and a bunch of Big Ten championships between Football, Wrestling, and Men’s and Women’s Basketball. Despite some success, Barta and Iowa have had to pay out $11 million from multiple lawsuits alleging racism, gender discrimination, and breaking Title IX laws. Recently Iowa had 26 players get su

  • Buck Off Podcast: Big Ten’s TV deal, neutral site football games, and a recruiting update

    26/05/2023 Duration: 01h46min

On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I’m joined by Jordan Williams to discuss the greatest exit in Big Ten conference history and why Big Ten administrators are an incredibly thoughtless group. To get the show started, we get into Kevin Warren’s final job with the new TV deal and all the errors he left for new commissioner Tony Pettitti to figure out. This litany of things includes giving away a game he wasn’t allowed to. not consulting programs about November night games, and more. After that we turn our attention to the worst decision a Big Ten program has ever made with scheduling. Michigan State is playing Penn State at Ford Field, a neutral site matchup on Black Friday that gives no benefit to anyone involved. The guys discuss how far away East Lansing is from Detroit and how the handling of breaking the news to season ticket holders was poor. This conversation divulges into some rants about how dumb neutral site football games are. We return from the break with a discussion about the

  • Silver Bullets Podcast: Buckeyes in the NFL Draft, transfer portal news, and kickoff times

    23/05/2023 Duration: 01h02min

We’re back for our May check-in and there’s always news, even in the offseason. We start this show off by looking back at how Ohio State’s former players did in the NFL Draft. We didn’t have to wait long to hear C.J. Stroud’s name called, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba was the first receiver taken, but what about the overall draft? We walk though where the Buckeyes were selected, who landed in a good spot, and who slipped unexpectedly. Were there any giant surprises? Not necessarily, but there were some mild ones. After our NFL Draft talk, we checked the arrivals and departures boards over at the transfer portal. There were some key additions and a couple of guys split, but overall the OSU roster didn’t change a lot. We discussed what to expect from the new guys from an active, post-spring transfer period for the Buckeyes. The kickoff times for a couple of games were announced and the Buckeyes are going to play a night game in mid-November. That’s news. It also isn’t something that sat well with the folks at Ohio Sta

  • Buck Off Podcast: Recruiting roundup on defensive backs, B1G QB outlook, and if we were in charge

    19/05/2023 Duration: 01h59min

From now until preseason camp starts in August, Land-Grant Holy Land will be writing articles around a different theme every week. This week is all about what we would do if we were in charge of our favorite position group, team, conference, or sport. You can catch up on all of the Theme Week content here and all of our ”If I Was in Charge” articles here. On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I’m joined by Jordan Williams to discuss the recent recruiting news on the defensive back front. After a few new predictions rolled in for a big time local defensive back the internet obviously handled it well. This leads to a wide discussion about Ohio State’s to main corner targets and why the battles against Michigan in this are more important. Then we get into the Elite 11 battle as well as Notre Dame being awful at recruiting. Then we get into the Big Ten quarterback situations and rank them from bad to good with need to see in the middle. We rate every quarterback situation from Illinois to Wisco

  • Hangout in the Holy Land: If WE were in charge

    17/05/2023 Duration: 58min

The latest episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast is here! Join LGHL’s Josh Dooley and Chuck Holmes as they cover Ohio State football, basketball, recruiting, and much, much more! Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of Hangout in the Holy Land, Josh and Chuck take the reins, for better or for worse. In keeping with LGHL’s weekly theme of If I was in charge, the hosts share changes and/or policies they would make if ever in a position of power at Ohio State. From the football team’s offensive playcalling to potentially bulldozing chain restaurants on campus, the guys cover an array of topics. After starting out football-centric, the discussion takes a passionate turn toward Buckeye baseball. @ctholmes3 makes a plea to invest in Scarlet and Gray baseball and asks why OSU cannot or will not allocate more of its abundant resources to this potential sleeping giant. The pod then goes somewhat off the rails when @jdooleybuckeye demands a resurrection of Catfish Biff’s, but he

  • Buck Off Podcast: Breaking down Ohio State’s transfer portal performance, stuff Jordan missed, and unreasonable expectations

    12/05/2023 Duration: 01h53min

On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I’m joined by Jordan Williams to to discuss our main takeaways from Ohio State’s transfer portal additions, their unreasonable expectations, and all the stuff Jordan missed while on his honey moon. We start the show with a celebration of Jordan’s matrimony and discuss his current energy as he returns to the show. After the wedding talk, we move our focus to what is really important, the fact we are now a Los Angeles Lakers podcast. After that, we get into how the Buckeyes handled the transfer portal this offseason. To start the discussion, we dive into the additions and subtractions in and out of the portal. Then our attention turns to why Ohio State’s transfer portal philosophy changed so aggressively in a years time. To close out the conversation we give our final grades on the holistic performance of retaining and gaining players for the Buckeyes in the portal. Continuing on after the break, we turn our attention to our most unrealistic expectations.

  • Bucketheads Podcast: Evan Mahaffey ditches Happy Valley for Columbus

    11/05/2023 Duration: 52min

Bucketheads’ is the only men’s basketball-focused podcast on the Land-Grant Podcast Network, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. ‘Bucketheads’ will be released every other Thursday during the offseason. Try as they might, Connor and Justin couldn’t resist leading off episode 75 of Bucketheads by talking about Bronny James’ recruitment and recent commitment to USC. They hashed out why, for a long time now, James playing for the Buckeyes didn’t make a ton of sense logistically — despite how fun the idea was. Then, they discuss Ohio State’s addition of sophomore forward Evan Mahaffey, a Cincinnati native, and graduate of Moeller High School. Mahaffey played one season at Penn State but will play his final three seasons in Columbus donning the scarlet and gray. The guys agree this is a high-reward, low-risk pickup for Ohio State, as he’s unlikely to start or be pressured to contribute in any critic

The latest episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast is here! Join LGHL’s Josh Dooley and Chuck Holmes as they cover Ohio State football, basketball, recruiting, and much, much more! Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of Hangout in the Holy Land, Josh and Chuck take a look at transfers and the cutthroat nature of Brian Hartline’s wide receiver room in Columbus. After discussing recent portal activity, the guys then go in-depth on the 2024 NFL Draft. That’s right, 2024. How many Buckeyes will be drafted next year, and on which day? Will Silver Bullets make a triumphant return to the top of mock drafts and big boards? And could the 2024 draft class be a historic one for Ohio State? After a few down years, the Hangout boys are optimistic about an OSU draft renaissance. But in order for that to happen, many players will have to find consistency in parts of the game where they have previously or otherwise only flashed. We start the show with a discussion about the offense and the biggest concerns on that side of the ball. The Buckeyes have one position group that is concerning on the offensive side, and without even saying it, I think you know what group will be discussed first. After that, we turn our attention to quarterback expectations, and then a conversation about maintaining health. After that, we turn our attention to the defensive side of the football. This discussion starts with the secondary, then we get into our level of concern that this half of the defense takes the necessary steps forward. We continue our defensive concern discussions with chat about Larry Johnson’s defensive line and our worry about his ill-timed rotations. The last bit we discuss is about Ohio State limiting big plays. To close out the show today, we

Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of Hangout in the Holy Land, Josh and Chuck discuss best-case and worst-case NFL Draft scenarios for C.J. Stroud and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Is Stroud actually better off falling? And will teams view JSN as a potential WR1 at the next level? The guys then look at a few landing spots for Paris Johnson Jr. and Dawand Jones, with the latter’s fit in Cincinnati up for debate. While Big Thanos performed very well during the 2022 season, his lack of activity during this draft cycle has been at least somewhat concerning. Finally, the conversation circles back to Stroud and an apparent smear campaign against him. Once viewed as QB1, he now finds himself the subject of silly rumors. Both Josh and Chuck implore teams to look past the usual pre-draft noise and instead watc

    21/04/2023 Duration: 01h44min

On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I’m joined by Jordan Williams to to discuss our main takeaways from Ohio State’s Spring game and Spring practice in general as the Buckeyes head into summer. We start the show with a discussion about Jordan’s matrimony this weekend and future advice on couples who are planning on taking that significant step. This also divulges into a conversation about the expenses of a wedding. With that out of the way, let’s all give Jordan a hearty congratulations. After that, we get into the business side of the show with a major discussion about Ohio State’s offensive line, Starting here creates an elevator build of excitement as the positions continue, but man are there some concerns with the offensive line. Continuing on the fronts, the exact opposite can be said about the defensive line, which also might be a problem. Continuing on after the break, we turn our attention to the the other position groups that had some stand outs including linebacker, Chip Trayanu
