  • Buck Off Podcast: Ohio State’s July recruiting, Northwestern scandal, and ‘contenders or pretenders’

    14/07/2023 Duration: 01h58min

On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I’m joined by Jordan Williams to discuss the unfortunate scandal that embroiled the college football world this past week. To get the show started, we discuss the turn of the calendar to July and what that means for the future show content moving forward. NFL players are reporting next week, so now it is getting down to the business side of the offseason before Ohio State plays football again. After that, we turn our attention to a tough conversation about the institutional failures surrounding Northwestern’s football team and athletic department. In this talk, we get into how Northwestern’s leadership failed and the culture of hazing was built over a long period time. This was not a recent story, and highlights the greater issues of power dynamics as well as institutional failures in college sports. On the other side of the break we switch our focus to a lighter set of conversations with Ohio State football recruiting. We talk about the recent run of r

From a five-star surprise to a (Hurri)Canes caper, the Hangout boys have you covered. And they both agree that while OSU is currently hot on the trail, Ryan Day and company must maintain momentum through the end of this 2024 recruiting cycle. The hosts then catch you up on recent contracts signed by former Buckeye hoopers. D’Angelo Russell stays in LA, Keita Bates-Diop will head to the desert, and E.J. Liddell finally gets rewarded! And it would not be a summer episode without at least some theme-week-related conversation. LGHL’s theme this week is Behind Enemy Lines, meaning the guys get a chance to break down Ohio Sta

  • I-70 Football Show: Emergency Pod!! Pat Fitzgerald has been fired

    11/07/2023 Duration: 01h14min

Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s I-70 podcast. On this show, we talk about all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan. Northwestern Football Head Coach Pat Fitzgerald has been fired after an investigation into hazing allegations levied against the program by former players. Initially, Pat Fitzgerald was suspended without pay for two weeks after an independent investigation found significant evidence of hazing.  After an article by the Daily Northwestern detailing the hazing allegations received national attention, Northwestern's President Michael Schill, sent an email saying he may have erred in his judgment suspending Fitzgerald for only two weeks and would reconsider the suspension. In a statement released by Michael Schill said “As the head

  • Buck Off Podcast: Defensive Line Recruiting, Ryan Day is not getting fired any time soon, and more

    07/07/2023 Duration: 02h06min

On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I’m joined by Jordan Williams to discuss all the news surrounding Ohio State’s recent hot streak in recruiting on the defensive side of the ball. To get the show started, we discuss the realistic possibilities of the defensive line recruiting class after the huge recruiting win for Justin Scott and missing out on Marquise Lightfoot. This conversation turns to predictions on the defensive line, and then we turn the conversation to how this coaching staff is rolling as a cohesive unit in year two. We also talk about Miles Lockhart and K.J. Bolden. After that, we turn our attention to a conversation and statement one host is growing exhausted of hearing. “If Michigan beats Ohio State again, Ryan Day should be fired,” they shout. Our impassioned host gives his list of reasons on why that will never happen, and for the impatient Ohio State fans, it won’t happen for a while. We turn our attention to our Buckeye heroes and why the list is so long. This takes d

  • Bucketheads: Chris Holtmann's future, what happened with Michigan and Caleb Love, and more with SI’s Kevin Sweeney

    06/07/2023 Duration: 01h03min

Bucketheads’ is the only men’s basketball-focused podcast on the Land-Grant Podcast Network, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. ‘Bucketheads’ will be released every other Thursday during the offseason. The guys welcome a return guest to the podcast this week — Sports Illustrated’s Kevin Sweeney. Connor, Justin, and Kevin begin by breaking down the two favorites to win the Big Ten this season, Michigan State and Purdue. Could the Boilermakers be even better next season if there’s even a little bit of improvement from Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer? Or could the Spartans overtake them if one particular junior guard — who Justin thinks the world of — takes the massive step forward some people think he will? They also discuss the addition of UCLA and USC to the Big Ten, and the logistical nightmares it could bring. No, Northwestern won’t be playing in Los Angeles on a Thursday night and then have

  • Hangout in the Holy Land: A couple of Buckeyes in the NFL gamble and lose, while others are remembered as heroes

    05/07/2023 Duration: 01h09min

The latest episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast is here! Join LGHL’s Josh Dooley and Chuck Holmes as they cover Ohio State football, basketball, recruiting, and much, much more! Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of Hangout in the Holy Land, Josh and Chuck discuss recent gambling suspensions dished out by the NFL, a few of which affected former Ohio State Buckeyes. Is the league acting in a hypocritical manner? Or are players ignoring fair, established rules? Both guys agree that it doesn't really matter what is fair or unfair, because one group holds disciplinary power. The hosts then catch you up on some recent recruiting news, including a Buckeye bump for at least one future OSU quarterback. And it would not be a summer episode without at least some theme-week-related conversation. LGHL’s theme this week is Buckeye Heroes, perfectly timed around the Fourth of July! The guys share their favorite underrated Buckeye Heroes, as well as a few heroic moments. Plus, a fe

  • Hangout in the Holy Land: Broken records, Brice Sensabaugh feeling jazzy, and football commitments galore

    28/06/2023 Duration: 01h16min

The latest episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast is here! Join LGHL’s Josh Dooley and Chuck Holmes as they cover Ohio Statefootball, basketball, recruiting, and much, much more! Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of Hangout in the Holy Land, Josh and Chuck (finally!) talk a little Ohio State basketball, as they take a look at Brice Sensabaugh’s NBA potential. Will the Buckeyes’ top scorer from a year ago become a top dog in the league? Or is he simply too one-dimensional? The guys struggle to come up with a strong pro comp for Sensabaugh but agree that he has plenty of work to do. The hosts then recap an exciting week of recruiting news for OSU football, highlighted by a couple of commitments from the Cleveland Glenville pipeline. And it would not be a summer episode without at least some theme-week-related conversation. LGHL’s theme this week is Broken Records, which motivated the Hangout boys to scour sportsbooks for Marvin Harrison Jr. props. • Silver Bullets Podcast: 2023 Ohio State schedule, future B1G scheduling, and the Glenville Pipeline

    27/06/2023 Duration: 59min

We’re back with our June off-season episode and we’ve got future Ohio State schedules on our minds. We start off by discussing the 2023 schedule, including all announced start times so far and the known TV schedule. Will the atmosphere at Notre Dame be too much for a first-year Ohio State starter just a couple of games into their first season in command of the offense? I brought up the fact that the Buckeyes’ home slate is a bit underwhelming this season, as there’s not a lot of big matchups outside of Penn State. Most of the Ohio State’s biggest games will take place outside of Columbus this season. We touched on the non-conference opponents the next couple of seasons, looked ahead at how the Big Ten is handling conference scheduling for the next two years, which games are protected rivalries, and how things might move forward if more teams are added to the conference. I propose (logistics be damned) that college football can add some drama to the schedule by doing Champions League-style draws for opponents

  • Buck Off Podcast: Recruiting update, meaningless official visits, and the worst coach rankings ever

    23/06/2023 Duration: 01h32min

On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I’m joined by Jordan Williams to discuss all the news surrounding Ohio State recruiting and other fun stories from around the country. To get the show started, we get into the future Chip Trayanum propaganda that will be on this podcast from here on out. Then we turn to Ohio State’s 2025 quarterback commitment and the next steps after Tavien St. Clair announced his commitment to the Buckeyes. After that, we turn our attention to official visits in college football, and why they are now a meaningless indicator in recruiting. There should be less worry about elite recruits taking visits, they are allowed to take as many as schools are willing to offer. Plus on the player Ohio State fans are most concerned about, there is no reason to carry that concern as long as Brian Hartline is employed. We return from the break with a game called Ohio State versus the field. In this game we are predicting if certain Ohio State recruiting prospects are going to be Buck

  • Bucketheads: NBA Draft Day, Ohio State Non-Con Schedule, TBT Notes

    22/06/2023 Duration: 54min

Bucketheads’ is the only men’s basketball-focused podcast on the Land-Grant Podcast Network, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. ‘Bucketheads’ will be released every other Thursday during the offseason. It is June 22, 2023, and that means one thing: It is officially NBA Draft Day. Ohio State star freshman Brice Sensabaugh will hear his name called tonight, but when will he hear it and which team will call it? We give our best guesses and why we think he could end up on certain teams. Also, we talk about the Ohio State Buckeyes men’s basketball team’s non-conference schedule that was officially announced this week. It is headlined by games against Texas A&M, West Virginia, Alabama, and maybe UCLA. Plus, three games against Mid-American Conference schools, so the Buckeyes will get their fair share of MACtion this upcoming season. And finally, Carmen’s Crew is back! After taking a year off last ye

  • Hangout in the Holy Land: Burning Questions that have our mind(s) in a fiery pretzel RE: Larry Johnson, his defensive line, and the young guns we would like to see more of in 2023

    21/06/2023 Duration: 01h09min

The latest episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast is here! Join LGHL’s Josh Dooley and Chuck Holmes as they cover Ohio State football, basketball, recruiting, and much, much more! Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of Hangout in the Holy Land, Josh and Chuck spark a fiery debate with their Burning Questions. As if their usual takes were not already spicy enough, this week the hosts wonder aloud whether a beloved coaching legend should be on the hot seat in Columbus. Also, in a post-pod blunder, they quickly run out of clever ‘hot’ words for the description you are currently reading. Dad jokes and wordplay aside, the guys have serious questions pertaining to Ohio State’s defense, such as: Has Larry Johnson lost his fastball? Did he get it right with J.T. Tuimoloau and/or Jack Sawyer? How culpable for recent defensive struggles is the group LJ put together? Moving beyond the line of scrimmage, when will Buckeye fans get to see C.J. Hicks and/or Sonny Styles fully unleash

  • Hangout in the Holy Land: Does ‘This or That’ make Ohio State a national title contender (again) in 2023?

    14/06/2023 Duration: 01h01min

The latest episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast is here! Join LGHL’s Josh Dooley and Chuck Holmes as they cover Ohio State football, basketball, recruiting, and much, much more! Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of Hangout in the Holy Land, Josh and Chuck embrace LGHL’s weekly theme of This or That. More specifically, the guys bring up different ‘This or That’ scenarios and discuss which player(s) performance, outcome, etc. will lead to greater success for Ohio State football in 2023. With C.J. Stroud gone, is the play of Kyle McCord and/or Devin Brown essential to OSU having an elite offense? Or can multiple running backs shoulder the load? Are turnovers caused on defense the ultimate predictor of success and winning? Or is it a ferocious pass rush? Will we actually see The Rushmen in action? Finally, is this the year of the tight end in Columbus? Probably not, but the hosts can dream. Before signing off, Chuck gives out the new show email address and hits Josh wit

  • Buck Off Podcast: New Big Ten TV Deal, Ohio State ‘What ifs,’ and brutally honest recruiting round up

    10/06/2023 Duration: 01h52min

From now until preseason camp starts in August, Land-Grant Holy Land will be writing articles around a different theme every week. This week is all about asking “What If?”. You can catch up on all of the Theme Week content here and all of our ”What If?” articles here. On today’s episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I’m joined by Jordan Williams to discuss all the news surrounding Ohio State football, the Big Ten, and the wide world of sports. To get the show started, we get into two of the biggest stories in the sports world. Lionel Messi is coming to America and this is a generational story that changes American sports. Then we talk about the LIV/PGA merger, and how the overarching story is indicative of all the decisions made in the sports world. After that, we turn our attention to some Ohio State football news. We talk about five best offensive linemen, who they might be, and why there is a history of the best five not actually working. We then turn to predicting the Big Ten TV schedule – sorry a

  • Bucketheads: Post-NBA deadline assessment of Ohio State, Big Ten Men's Basketball

    08/06/2023 Duration: 58min

Bucketheads’ is the only men’s basketball-focused podcast on the Land-Grant Podcast Network, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. ‘Bucketheads’ will be released every other Thursday during the offseason. With the NBA Draft deadline passed, Connor and Justin used episode 77 to discuss the state of the Big Ten conference. This year’s NBA deadline was a win for the B1G, as noteworthy stars like Terrence Shannon Jr., Zach Edey, Coleman Hawkins, and Boo Buie returned to their respective teams. The guys agreed that the top of the conference will likely be anchored by the Boilermakers and Spartans, with the Illinois Fighting Illini not far behind. Spots three through eight are a hodgepodge of teams who are likely to make the NCAA Tournament, but probably aren’t good enough to win the Big Ten — like Ohio State, Maryland, and Northwestern. The bottom of the Big Ten will likely have some familiar faces: N

Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of Hangout in the Holy Land, Josh and Chuck embrace LGHL’s weekly theme of What If, as they boldly look toward the future. The guys hit you with a bunch of ‘what if’ scenarios and discuss potential outcomes, whether good or bad for Scarlet and Gray fans. Is there any chance whatsoever that Ryan Day and his Ohio State football staff produce a dud (instead of a dude) at quarterback? If so, are the Buckeyes toast in 2023 and potentially even 2024? Will Jim Knowles (ever) replicate his Oklahoma State magic with better players in Columbus? And would that make OSU a championship contender, regardless of QB play? And what does the future look like for both Ryan Day and Brian Hartline? What if they are destined for greatness elsewhere? Lastly, before signing off, Ch

This draft consists of 25 rounds, including picks on offense, defense, and three coaches. On offense, we pick two quarterbacks, two running backs, four wide receivers, two tight ends, and one offensive line unit. On defense, we pick one defensive line unit, three linebackers, four corners, and three safeties. Lastly, we each pick one head coach, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator.  Each guy comes with their own draft plan, including Jordan drafting Tommy Eichenberg way higher than anyone else would.
