Nebraska fired Scott Frost mid-season and struggled to find an identity or consistency on either side of the ball as the defense took a significant step back fro

Bucketheads: Checking in on some preseason predictions and looking ahead to next season
16/02/2023 Duration: 58minBucketheads’ is the only men’s basketball-focused podcast in the LGHL family of podcasts, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. ‘Bucketheads’ will be released every Thursday morning throughout the regular season. The main topic on last week's “Bucketheads” podcast was the idea that if the Buckeyes beat Northwestern and Michigan State then they could put themselves back on track to make the NCAA Tournament. Since then, they lost to both of those teams and are now 11-14 and 3-11 in the Big Ten conference with their only hope of making the tournament is winning the Big Ten tournament or winning out in the regular season. So Connor and Justin talked about the 2023 season and why they are still giving the coaching staff a vote of confidence heading into next season. Also, they looked back on their preseason Final Four predictions and checked in on how those teams are doing. Connect with the Podcast: T

Silver Bullets Podcast: Off-season news, transfers, coaching staff, and spring ball
14/02/2023 Duration: 01h09minOhio State football news never sleeps, even during the off-season. There’s a lot of ground to cover since our last show, which capped a season that ended a bit earlier than we liked, and we’re here to talk about it. We start by recapping Ohio State’s NFL Draft declarations and decisions to return, including who the biggest surprises were on both sides of the issue. That led to discussion of which Buckeyes will be taking part in the NFL Combine this spring. The transfer portal was also a busy “place” after the last game of the season and we talked about some of the comings and goings via that route as well. The death of Dimitrious Stanley at age 48 was a blow to some of us ‘elder statesmen’ in the Buckeye fan base, so it was worth revisiting his legacy and put some respect on the name of a guy who may not have the huge numbers or the most famous name in OSU history, but he was integral to the success of a great 1996 Ohio State team. The Ohio State coaching staff hasn’t exactly been shaken up so far this off-se

13/02/2023 Duration: 40minThroughout the year, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. Following Ohio State’s lopsided, comical loss to Michigan State Sunday afternoon, we spoke to Tom Izzo, Chris Holtmann, and Bruce Thornton about that game and the state of Ohio State’s program in general. Izzo spoke at length about Holtmann and the Ohio State program. He mentioned that “once you build the monster, you have to feed the monster” meaning that once you establish success at this level, you have to figure out how to sustain it. Izzo said Sunday’s game was a “rock fight” but that he had several players contribute in other ways than scoring. Thornton talked about the losses piling up and was also asked about social media. He said there are a lot of “hate comments” thrown his way, but that he’s had to stay mature and just learn to ignore people on the internet. Holtmann talked about how Izzo’s Spartans slowed the pace down quite a bit from

LGHL Uncut: Ohio State loses once again, this time to Northwestern
11/02/2023 Duration: 29minThroughout the year, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. Following Thursday night’s loss to Northwestern, the media spoke with the head coach of the winning team — Chris Collins — and the losing team — Chris Holtmann. We also spoke with Justice Sueing and Bruce Thornton. Collins spent most of his time relating Ohio State’s current struggles to the struggles of some of his Northwestern teams over the years. He said that Ohio State has been in most of their games, but “It’s hard to get back up and compete when you’ve experienced so little joy.” Collins said the Buckeyes have several playmakers, but that his team’s resolve and positivity on the road helped get them the win. Sueing and Thornton didn’t have a ton to provide, other than dismissing the idea that something “was up” with Brice Sensabaugh after his worst game in college thus far. Sueing acknowledged that he’s played better, but that it doesn’t ma

Bucketheads: Coming to grips with a (probably) lost Ohio State men's basketball season
09/02/2023 Duration: 49minBucketheads’ is the only men’s basketball-focused podcast in the LGHL family of podcasts, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. ‘Bucketheads’ will be released every Thursday morning throughout the regular season. During episode 65, Justin and Connor return to discuss an Ohio State team that’s now 3-9 in Big Ten play and all but eliminated from the NCAA Tournament with a month still to play. It took some time, but it seems that Chris Holtmann has finally hit the point where he just wants to play the guys who play the hardest, limiting the minutes of some in favor of guys like Gene Brown and Tanner Holden. While the Buckeyes aren’t mathematically eliminated from the tournament, they’ll have to go on quite the run to make it, plus win a few games in the B1G Tournament — or win the B1G Tournament outright. It’s been quite some time since Ohio State has won consecutive games, so the odds of that are s

LGHL Uncut: Justice Sueing, Bruce Thornton, Chris Holtmann discuss Ohio State’s most recent setback
07/02/2023 Duration: 22minThroughout the year, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. Following Ohio State’s 77-69 loss to Michigan in Ann Arbor, the media was able to speak with Bruce Thornton, Justice Sueing, and Chris Holtmann about the loss, the losing streak, and what needs to improve to finish the season on a positive note. Thornton spoke more than Sueing and was asked about the career-high 22 he scored in the loss. Thornton said he felt like he and the team were able to play “more free” than before, but that did not lead to a victory. Sueing insisted that this is a talented team that just keeps coming up a bit short. Holtmann spoke about his team’s defense — or lack thereof — saying that his team was in a position several times to tie the game or make it a one-possession game and could not. He said there were several stretches of really good play, and the team brought good energy and motivation into this game. Despite that,

Following Ohio State’s 65-60 loss to Wisconsin, the media spoke to Greg Gard, Chris Holtmann, Zed Key, and Isaac Likekele about Ohio State’s eighth loss in their last nine games. Gard, the winner of the game, was able to discuss Wisconsin shaking off a bad stretch and winning a game on the road. Gard praised his players for “not letting the outside noise get to them” and refusing to let a slump (Wisconsin had lost six of seven heading into Thursday’s game) continue. He praised Brice Sensabaugh’s ability to create shots at any time, but said it was much easier to guard him on Thursday since he was in foul trouble the entire time. Key and Likekele did not have answers for why Ohio State did not come out with enough “bite” or “energy” in the 22nd game of the season. Key stoutly rejected any notion that the team dislikes or resents Sensabaugh for his
