Synopsis

Welcome to the You've Never Seen That Podcast. The show where two dudes who thought they watched a lot of television, are proven wrong. Each week hosts Bellamy and Mike watch a random episode of a random season of a pre-determined show that they have never seen a single episode of and discuss their thoughts after. How wrong are they? Usually pretty wrong.

Episodes

  • S3 Ep21 - The Goldbergs [S5 Ep3 - Goldberg on The Goldbergs]

    04/12/2017 Duration: 01h24min

First off kids, this show has the wrestler Goldberg, so, it's already good. It's also a very delightful slice of life sitcom about growing up in the Eighties. Also, they're a pretty Jewish family and we talk about the difference of characters and caricatures. So suck it Chuck Lorre. We talk about Carly Rae Jepsen, and how apparently we're kind of racists but we never knew it. Just... listen to the episode, you'll see what I mean, we're not really, but we do questions ourselves a whole bunch.

  • S3 Ep20 - Deadwood [S3 Ep7 - Unauthorized Cinnamon]

    27/11/2017 Duration: 01h37min

Gifted older brother of the television world, HBO, strikes again with another... what we think is a banger? To be honest, we're not really sure because it seems like we just got a dud of an episode. There's a lot of cowboys, whole bunch drinking, the casual racism of the 1800's and a lot of history for us to be surprised about. If you like the episode, please rate, subscribe and share, and find us on Twitter and Facebook @YNSTcast

  • S3 Ep19 - Penny Dreadful [S3 Ep9 - The Blessed Dark]

    20/11/2017 Duration: 01h34min

Well everyone, in a YNST first, we watch the series finale of a television show. It just so happens that that show is none other than Showtime's Penny Dreadful. This show is awesome. It's everything Grimm and Sleepy Hallow wished they could be. We talk about Victorian language, the depressing world that was the turn of the century London, the right way to do monster mashes, and how even though this was a great show, Vampires will never be able to get away from swooshing all over the place. With only a very few bad things to say that we might think just be attributed to, I dunno, watching a random episode of a random television series we've never seen before, Both Bellamy and I came to the conclusion that unlike so many shows we watch, this, was a good show. Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep18 - The Carrie Diaries [S1 Ep10 - The Long and Winding Road Not Taken]

    14/11/2017 Duration: 01h39min

In this Sex and the City prequel, the difference between nineties HBO and current network television couldn't be more apparent. Sold perhaps as a slice of life show for teens, we couldn't help but scratch our heads and ask ourselves "but like... who is this for?" To be fair, it is a wonderful show and we had a delightful time watching it, I'd like to believe anyone who does would feel the same and so it's for everybody, but from a specific market standpoint.... shrug emoji? We discuss how apparently Connecticut in the 80's was more racially inclusive and diverse than New York in the 90's, or at least, their television portrayals were, how sometimes you get your money and get out, and how Jim Carey and Neil Patrick Harris were BOTH in different versions of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep17 - Babylon 5 [S2 Ep9 - The Coming of Shadows]

    07/11/2017 Duration: 01h38min

Guys, first and foremost, this is not a reference to Idris Elba. Just needed to make that clear right away. Set only about two hundred years in the future mankind has somehow both managed to go exceptionally forward, and exceptionally backwards in it's quest for the stars. Following the Great War a space station is built, and these homies have to live on it. There's cool hair Centuari's with their maybe telepathic abilities, the Narns who can crush foam tables with ease, and of course, Space America swinging around it's big ol Space Dong. Also there's a Vorlon, which is like, some kind of space age computer generated lizard bug that can tell the future? I dunno, this show gets wild, but not really in a good way. More in like a "bless their hearts 1995" way.  Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep16 - Fargo [S3 Ep5 - The House of Special Purpose]

    23/10/2017 Duration: 01h30min

Well the wave continues to roll as we jump from an awful show to an amazing one with FX's Original Series Fargo. Inspired by the late 90's cult? classic movie of the same name, the show continues the tales of a dark but humorous midwestern lifestyle, complete with scandal, death, and a good deal of colloquialisms. If you want to know our thoughts on star studded casts, making actual television or Idris Elba's Dark Tower, then you've come to the right place. Also, we recap how our show has plenty of famous friends, wild coincidences, and sponsors like the crips, refreshing taste of hot DP. It starts really spooky scary but don't worry it's not too scary. Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep14 - Grimm [S1 Ep15 - Island of Dreams]

    16/10/2017 Duration: 01h44min

Hot take alert, spoilers guys, if you were expecting NBC's Grimm to be a good show: it's not. What can be said about a not gritty self proclaimed gritty cop drama that involves monsters that aren't monsters, they're just recycled CGI from the smash hit 1999 series "Animorphs"? Nothing. Nothing can be said. But we did, somehow, for an hour and a half. Also, we should have just watched Animorphs. So pull up a chair, get yourself some Gezelzopr to smoke out of your Grompelhorn and listen to us mercilessly make fun of how bad this show really is. Also, if anyone sees Adelinde just staring off into nothing, she's probably just waiting for a phone call, but you might just want to make sure.  Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep13 - Blackish [S3 Ep12 - LEMONS]

    02/10/2017 Duration: 01h39min

You're hot then you're cold, you're yes then you're no, you're in then your out, you're Chuck Lorre and then you're Blackish. That's right, in a non stop roller coaster of jumping from awful television to fantastic and back again we've hit another updraft with the insanely awesome Anthony Anderson show: Blackish. Man, he really has come a long way since Malibu's Most Wanted... I wonder what Jamie Kennedy is up to? Anyway, you guys should really watch this show, we talk all about it, but bottomline it's a very funny and smart show all about progressing dialogue in the world to make our country a better place. It's neither preachy nor pushy but still hits real close to home, especially in our episode that just happens to focus on the most recent presidential election. There's a lot of good jokes, a whole lot of great actors (Huge thanks again to Laurence Fishbourne), and of course some good natured jabs at ourselves and the world we live in.  Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inac

  • S3 Ep12 - One Tree Hill [S5 Ep16 - Cryin Won't Help You Now]

    25/09/2017 Duration: 01h40min

Are you ready for th most late 2000's experience you'll have this week? Because we most certainly were not, but that's exactly what we got. One Tree Hill is everything the senior who graduated in 2006/7 but started shopping at Zumiez in 2002 ever wanted. It's got references to Dashboard Confessional, AFI, and Angels and Airwaves, it's got teen angst that grows into adult angst, it's got privileged lives of fabulous high school sports and did we mention Dan is back and he has a heart condition with only six months to live?! Oh well, he was never really a father to me anyway. Seriously though, on paper, this show isn't good, watching this show though? I will physically fight anyone who says this show is bad. Seriously, I might start watching this just for the feels and the ludicrousness of it all. Oh snap, Ludacris, remember him? Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep11 - The IT Crowd [S4 Ep6 - Reynholm vs. Reynholm]

    18/09/2017 Duration: 01h26min

Guys, if you never hear from me again, just know, Bellamy probably killed me, first suspect in the case, right there. Also, if you need evidence to build your case, pretty sure he says he's going to kill me at least three times in this episode. Listen along as one of us thoroughly enjoys the delightfully random British comedy The IT Crowd as the other... threatens to kill the other co host. If you like nonsense, sight gags, and misdirects, The IT Crowd is for you, if you need your comedy to be a bit more highbrow, maybe stay away from this show. We discuss how this is actually different than the stuff Chuck Lorre makes, whether or not there's a difference between liking something and enjoying something, and bring back the use of Michael Haggins' Daybreak. I think it's great episode, but I also may not have long to live.  Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep10 - Mom [S3 Ep7 - Kreplach and a Tiny Tush]

    11/09/2017 Duration: 01h42min

Every good super hero story has an origin story behind it, the horrific accident, or terrible tragedy that forces the person to become what they've always been meant to be. For this podcast, that horrific event, Was Mom. This analogy is so precise, it even involves our arch nemesis, "content" creator, and idea fart behind Mom, Chuck Lorre. Listen along as we literally lose our minds and devolve into just screaming for an hour and forty minutes because, you guys, Mom, is SO funny. Like, you are NOT prepared for how funny this is. This is so funny, you'll realize there is no escape. It has all the hallmarks of the best kind of comedy, the show gets to make fun of addicts, disregard people with depression, be insensitive to suicide, in 2017 still somehow write characters that are just talking Jewish stereotypes, and then, if thats not funny enough for you, we realize the only way to escape from how funny this show is, is death. We improvise our own laugh track, spend about a solid 50 minutes shitting all over Ch

  • S3 Ep9 - Orphan Black [S5 Ep8 - Guillotine's Decide]

    04/09/2017 Duration: 01h33min

Well guys we did it, we finally got a show that made absolutely no sense to us. That didn't make it any less awesome, but apparently the magic formula for confusing the hell out of two dudes who watch a random episode in a random season of a popular television series is: have one actress play five characters and all of them are clones. Apparently that will do it. Sprinkle in a shadow government and multinational corporation of villains whose real names handle ever get used, refer to the clones by the wrong names, call everyone your "sister", and add a weird psycho-sexual elektra complex and well, you have yourself Orphan Black. However, even so, we're super stoked on this show. We talk about winning the BBC Stuff Award, our good friends at Comedy Bang Bang (Congrats again, guys), and of course, that CGI dog who flies a plan and makes everyone's hearts light.  Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep8 - Lucifer [S2 Ep10 - Quid Pro Ho]

    28/08/2017 Duration: 01h34min

You guys, do you ever ask yourselves "Do I have any necessary prejudices"? Like, do you ever feel like maybe you feel a certain way about something unjustly? Well, let me clear up one thing for you, Fox does not make good shows. There will always be the statistical anomalies like Empire, but for the most part it's all just hot Fox garbage. And Lucifer is no exception. Listen along as we rant on how bad this show is, whether or not everyone knows the main character is the devil, how awful the names of the characters are, and most importantly, that at least a lot of the CGI staff contracted by Fox is getting a lot of good use out of that JJ Abrams app where you can blow stuff up. Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep7 - 13 Reasons Why [S1 Ep10 - Tape 5, Side B]

    24/08/2017 Duration: 01h41min

A controversial show about teenage suicide and the life of the modern day adolescent, this Netflix original series brings to light the struggles of teens and some of the darker realities that they must face between bullying, pressure from friends and society, and how to cope with mental illness. Listen along as we discuss a few things like how this show would never pass Occum's Razor, the douchy guy was actually cool until he was killed, and whether or not this should be the way suicide is portrayed to young adults. Discussing the way in which things are framed in the collective dialogue and making one thing absolutely clear: stop casting 30 year olds to play mid to late teens. Seriously, the guy who plays Monty looks like he worked as a gaffer on Moonraker. Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep6 - Turn [S2 Ep3- False Flag]

    14/08/2017 Duration: 01h40min

Welcome back! We made it! After an impromptu studio change that put us on an unexpected two week hiatus WE ARE BACK! And we're better than ever! Because we watched a show that was WAYYYYY better than The Shield. Seriously guys, way better than the shield. Ever wonder what the revolutionary war might have looked like if you were a turn coat in the era of colonial wars? Or what Benjamin Franklin would have been like if you couldn't use his name or likeness? Or what the guy who plays Gibbs in Pirates of the Caribbean is up to? Well then, this is most certainly the show for you! Surprisingly, it was also the show for us. We thoroughly enjoyed it other than the fact that the guy who plays Washington bares a passing resemblance to Rob Riggle, or that the guy who plays Benedict Arnold kind of looks like Lou Ferrigno. Either way, this was a banger to come back to, and we're glad to be back.  Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep5 - The Shield [S5 Ep4 - Tapa Boca]

    25/07/2017 Duration: 01h36min

Are you curious if The Shield isn't just another cop drama? Are you a big fan of crosses that double cross and then double cross their double crossers? What about crosses that criss and then cross and then double cross their doubled down double cross? Working outside the law to get things done? Being edgy, but "real", gritty, red blooded but no one understands you? Well then, you'll love The Shield. Conversely, we did not. We talk about how glorifying police who don't do their job but get implicated in drug deals, threats, and working "outside the system" is exactly what we don't need in the world right now, but, we do inevitably relent and admit we both agree: it is "A show".  Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep4 - Felicity [S1 Ep8 - Drawing the Line Part 2]

    18/07/2017 Duration: 01h57min

If you've ever asked yourself "how hard would it be to make jokes while discussing a very sombre and visceral drama concerning rape culture and how society deals with sexual assault" ... well, you're in luck? On this week's episode of You've Never Seen That we try our best to somehow combine a comedy podcast with a late ninties drama about rape on a college campus. Some quick highlights, Kerri Russe never ages, maybe this is connected to The American's and August Rush, and somehow we manage to talk about how great this show really is and how necessary it seems to start these conversation even twenty years ago.  Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep3 - Nurse Jackie [S6 Ep8 - The Lady With The Lamp]

    10/07/2017 Duration: 01h45min

What happens when a nurse who tries her best in a busy New York hospital ends up falling victim to addiction in the high pressure environment of an often awful health care system... and then two guys watch a random episode of a much larger story about it and try to figure out what the hell is happening for an hour and a half on the internet? Well I can tell you this much, the fact the show is rife with fever dreams and hallucinations that are all very well composed and created DOES NOT help. This week we watch the Showtime Original Nurse Jackie and both agree, it was an awesome show. A world of honest and well acted relationships set in the confines of a self destructive addiction fueled mind juxtaposed with the viscerally real, if mundanely traumatic experiences of every day life make this show a wonderful descent into a gas lit question of what exactly is real or fake a la any Guillermo Del Toro thriller or HBO original series. (We're looking at you Westworld and Pan's Labyrinth) We discuss what may or may

  • S3 Ep2 - Phineas and Ferb [S3 Ep26 - Meapless in Seattle]

    05/07/2017 Duration: 01h47min

Hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday weekend celebrating the Fourth of July, we came back strong after ours with a slightly belated post on the second episode of our third season where we watched kid comedy Phineas and Ferb. We talk about the merits of Nickelodeon versus Disney, the continued struggle of good and evil between Dan Harmon and Dan Schnieder, and just what kids should be watching now a days. As always we say some arguably offensive things and wonder just who the hell ever let their kids watch Sam and Cat, and if you're thinking "hey, thats not this episode" it more or less is a prerequisite that you can find right below this one in the episodes listing of whatever app or website you podcast us on! Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. Okay byeeeeee.

  • S3 Ep 1 - Sam and Cat [Vol.3 Ep 1 - #DroneBabyDrone]

    26/06/2017 Duration: 01h56min

In a the two hour season premier of You've Never Seen That, Season 3, we go into what can only be described as our longest, best, weirdest, and most thrilling diatribe yet, all at the hands of Nickolodean's, I guess "show": Sam and Cat. Have you ever asked yourself these questions: where did Ariana Grande come from, why is she always presented as an over sexed fourteen year old, and could there possibly a world in which her voice makes you want to throw yourself off of a cliff? Or perhaps questions like: "In the beginning was there only One True Dan before he split into the benevolent Dan Harmon and the evil Dan Schnieder? or Can Haase and Bellamy write a spec script for an episode off the top of their heads? or Is this one giant commentary on sex work, antisocial personality disorder, depression, and neural degenerative disorders?" if so, you're in luck, because we discuss all this and more on our season three premier! Tune in each Monday as we choose a new show and make more wildly inaccurate assumptions. O
