Doctor Who: Who's He? Podcast

After a couple of months, an audio commentary makes a welcome return to the Who's He? Podcast and they've selected The Twin Dilemma.  What's wrong with them?!!  During the course of the commentary they try to keep their spirits up by comparing the titular twins to Phil Collins and Mestor to Don Estelle with a little bit of Al Jolson thrown in for good measure.  But this one isn't pretty folks, oh no this is full of deep hurting, so if you want to hear three podcasting suffering collectively, then this is for you!! Also, the news this week is all DVD related.  That's it, just DVD's really.

Well it's the end of Doctor Who until Christmas, so what to do?  It's a mid series review that's what!  And to help Phil and Paul discuss series 7 so far, friend to the show Stephen Prescott from A Mad Man With A Box Podast makes a welcome return to the show.  They have a great time discussing what they liked and disliked in this first half of series 7 and they lament that the recently released "P.S." wasn't filmed for the show.  You will also hear Phil use the words "adored" and "beautiful".  Yes, you read the correctly!   And in the news this week, series 7a gets a UV DVD & Blu-ray release, the final viewing figures for The Angels Take Manhattan, new exhibits at the Doctor Who Experience and finally in Omega's Tat Corner The Eternity Clock gets it PS Vita release. After a two week break the podcast that no-one listens to makes its triumphant return with a review of The Angels Take Manhattan.  What will Paul and Phil make of the Ponds departure from Doctor Who?  Do they think series 7a finished with a bang or a whimper?  Is Phil still a miserable old sod or has he cheered up over the last 14 days? (NO!)  Will Paul try to temper Phil's wild conspiracy theories? (YES!)   And in the news this week, and Australian MP wants Doctor Who to flim down under, news from the Recon event and Omega's Tat Corner rears its ugly head once more!

Gulp!  We're nearly out of new Doctor Who to watch and debate over!  So sit back and listen with a big hot mug of steaming whatever and see what Paul and Phil thought of The Power of Three!  Does Phil actually enjoy an episode or does he still say "meh!"?  Will Paul ever shake off the "little Ern" tag?  Will their ratings systems collapse in on itself?  Besides that, Phil manages to insult Professor Brian Cox and Sir Alan "Amstrad" Sugar as well as bringing Fred Freiberger into the conversation for which he should be ashamed of himself! And in the news this week, the sad news of Janet Fieldings battle with cancer, the power of Steven Moffat, some Big Finish releases and finally some gift news from the anti-matter universe!

Yes, welcome to the audio equivalent of valium!  This week Phil & Paul turn their attentions to A Town Called Mercy, the latest episode in this run of Doctor Who.  After a couple of weeks of not agreeing with each other, will this week be any different?  However be assured that during this weeks podcast references will be made to Red Dwarf, Star Wars, The Terminator, Firefly, West World and erm.....Bootle Saddles! And in the news, the overnight ratings for Dinosaurs On A Spaceship, more awards success for Doctor Who and an event at the end of September that neither Phil nor Paul can attend.  Again.

Dinosaurs On A Spaceship, the one that the Who's He? Podcast team have been waiting for with some trepidation!  Yes, it's the first of Chris Chibnall's stories for Series 7 and what do they think?  Will the wind of change blow through this podcast or will they follow suit and give this a negative review?  Listen to see if there any surprises! Also, in the news this week the audience figures for Asylum Of The Daleks, news on whether Neil Gaiman is writing another story for Doctor Who and Phil gets tongued tied and invents a new Doctor Who spin off show.

At last!!  After 8 months Phil and Paul have new Doctor Who to review in the shape of Asylum Of The Daleks!  And with the new series, they introduce a new ratings system to the podcast (though how long this will last is anyones guess).  What do they think of the series opener?  Are the Daleks truly scary again or they just the same old easily beaten dustbins?  And why does Phil bring Sir Digby Chicken Caesar into the conversation? Also, in this week news the tabloids get it wrong again and in Omega's Tat Corner the discussion turns into a question of width (ooer!).

Well here's a surprise.  Phil, Paul and Tony have managed to get together to bring you an audio commentary for the 2nd Doctor story the Tomb Of The Cybermen.  And they said they couldn't manage it this month!  The delights contained within the commentary are Phil and Tony both managing to squeeze in impressions of Tina Turner, Paul and Tony accuse Phil of being aggressive (to which Phil completely misses the point) and Tony brings his usual non-conformist facts which this time features how Patrick Troughton chose his name. And in the news, Series 7 finally gets its airdate confirmed, the Pond Life mini episodes, a bit of DVD news and in Omega's Tat Corner, Rory Williams finally gets his action figure.

After a two week break, they're back, bigger and badder than ever!!  Ok, that's a lie, it's business as usual with Phil and Paul but they've decided to branch out into different territory this week and have finally dipped their toes into the seas of Big Finish with a look at Paul McGanns 8th Doctor story, Blood of The Daleks.  But beware, this review is full of spoilers!! They also rattle through the news they have missed over the last two weeks, including the recent showing of the series 7 opener Asylum of The Daleks at the BFI.  Plus there is also the return of everyones favourite antimatter despot in Omega's Tat Corner with a piece of tat that is strictly adults only.

We've reached the end of the series 4 road and this week Phil and Paul are joined by the marvellous Chris Burgess from Radio Free Skaro to look back at Journey's End.  During the course of their discussion, they let loose with their opinions on such things as Rose Tyler, easily beaten Daleks, Rose Tyler and Billie Piper, Russell T. Davies and Billie Piper and Rose Tyler. And in this weeks news, Doctor Who has lost two actors with the sad passing of Mary Tamm and Geoffrey Hughes, an announcement of a new series 7 trailer and the inclusion of Doctor Who in the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games and some 50 the anniversary stamps. This week Paul and Phil turn their attention towards The Stolen Earth, the penultimate story of Series 4.  This is a story that divides fans but will it also divide Phil and Paul?  Will they argue over minor details again or will they just be glad to get it over and done with?   And in this weeks news, Series 7 episode titles that were announced at last weeks San Diego Comic Con, the future of the BBC Television Centre has been decided and how Phil likes to spend his evenings in this weeks Omega's Tat Corner.

In this episode, Phil and Paul (the Statler and Waldorf of podcasting) cast their collective eye over Turn Left in their continuing quest through Series 4.  While they both admit that they enjoyed this story when it first aired, will they still think the same now?  You will have to listen to find out but I can say this: they have "a bit of a moment" discussing the Bad Wolf ending while Phil gets confused and plugs another podcast.   Meanwhile, in the the news this week, Colin Baker expands on his comments regarding the 50th Anniversary, the 2nd part of The Power of The Daleks fan film is released, plus the immediate return of Omega's Tat Corner.

This week Phil and Paul return to series 4 with a look at the well regarded story, Midnight.  As they both like this episode, they do find it hard going to talk about!  It's a small story so their opinions seem to match this week but it doesn't stop the pair of them getting into a disagreement about stubborn academics.   Also, in the news this week a small item about recent casting for series 7, The Ambassadors of Death DVD update and a new feature of the Who's He? Podcast - Omega's Tat Corner.

It's audio commentary time and this month it's the turn of Paul McGann in Doctor Who: The Movie.  However, Tony was late to the recording as he hadn't had his dinner (and you don't want to be in the same room as Tony when he's hungry) so Paul and Phil cracked on with the news without him, which took all of 5 minutes as it was a very slow week for news.   Eventually Tony turned up and they got on with the task in hand.  In this episode you will find Smurfs, little known facts about Paul McGann, Popeye The Salior Man and the hazards of transporting free range chickens.

In this mini episode of the Who's He? Podcast, Phil (the only gamer out of the three of them) give his review of the recent Playstation 3 release Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock and discovers that this is not the game we were hoping for.

This week, Phil and Paul cast their eye over The Forest of The Dead, the conclusion to River Song's opening story in Series 4 of Doctor Who.  It's another enjoyable story for the reviewing pair but it's not long before they air their gripes about where it went wrong.  During the course of their conversation this week, they go wildly off topic and start discussing Steven Moffats overall contribution to Doctor Who and whether his writing was better before he became show runner. However, all of this is tempered by the news that we have lost another Doctor Who actor in the form of Caroline John and the lads take the opportunity to celebrate her character, Liz Shaw.

After a couple of poor stories (in their eyes anyway!), Phil and Paul ger their teeth into Silence In The Library in their ongoing retrospective of Series 4.  This was a story they were both keen to revisit so this is a story they still like?  Will they start to pick holes in it like they normally do or will they just like an episode for once in their lives?   And in this week news, another publicity photograph of Matt Smith and Jenn-Louise Coleman is released by the BBC, Jean Marsh gets an OBE and some DVD news.  Now stay out of the shadows!

This week Phil and Paul take a look back at the Agatha Christie murder mystery romp The Unicorn And The Wasp. This is an episode that neither Paul nor Phil were particuarly interested in watching again even though fandom would tell them this is a good story. Has time changed their minds? Will the comedic aspects of the script cheer them up or will they remain their usual miserable selves? (Well, Phil is the miserable one really). Meanwhile, in the news this week, there was a gathering of five Doctors, an official photo was released of the Doctor and his new companion, Bill Nighy reveals that he didn't want the role of the Doctor and a fan poll reveals their favourite Doctor Who monster EVER!!

In this weeks episode, the reviewing partnership of Phil & Paul take a look back at the....ahem...well regarded series 4 story The Doctors Daughter. Ok, I can't keep up the pretence any longer, it's probably one of the least well regarded stories in this series and Paul & Phil do little to change anyones opinion. But they go through the motions and try as they might, they can't be help but be nothing but critical of this story, so don't expect many laughs this week!! However, after much analysis, they reach the conclusion that the only thing that could have saved this story is....WILLIAM SHATNER!! And in this weeks news, the first group of guests has been announced for Gallifrey 2013, series 7 production news and air date rumours and in what has become a regular feature, Phil & Paul promise to listen to some Big Finish audios!!

Dim the lights, close all the windows and dust down your DVD players as it's audio commentary time! This month, Paul, Tony and Phil are tackling the behemoth that is Warriors Of The Deep. They've tried this one before and failed miserably, so they've deployed all sorts of lucky tokens about their persons to make sure this one goes off without a hitch. Even then it was still touch and go. Also, in this weeks news, Steven Moffat want to keep the Doctors new companion a complete secret, a little bit of DVD news and the lads get angry at certain 'fans' reactions to the airing this week of the Blue Peter Script to Screen winners story, Good As Gold.  Now stop laughing at the Myrka, you know how fragile he is!
