Not Another Bad Movie Podcast

Ollie Brady @ollieandemily of Best Acquaintances joins me to discuss Tulips in Spring. We discuss the royals for no apparent reason and Sade's Kissed by a Rose on the Grave. It's much more fun than actually talking about the very dull very unromantic movie about a lady who tries to decide between interior design and farming and between current boyfriend and hot flower broker. 

John McCoy of Sophomore Lit guests joins me in discussing a thriller with all the chills of real estate, and all the levity of grotesque violence. In this episode we try to decide whether the nudity was tasteful (spoiler, it's not); if the movie understands what Alzheimer's is (spoiler, it doesn't); and whether or not the movie has haunted milk (it might). This movie scored 0 in goofiness (jester hats this time), and barely got any stars. Fortunately, the very charming Becca Simmons joined me to talk through the April Fool's Day themed movie, and she's always a delight.

Megan and Hotep Anthony of the Just God Just podcast discuss the Netflix original movie, A Christmas Prince. Just how hott is this really boring prince, just how senile was the prince's father before he died, and just how thoughtless is the main character who falls in love with the prince? Megan and Kathleen (she's back) watch a Lifetime movie again on the theme of HGTV. This time a sexy contractor turns out to be dangerous. Kathleen finds plaid scary. Megan finds wallpaper scary, but the real fear comes from how rote the ending of this movie is. Still it's a pretty fun sexy time! (Does she mean the movie or her podcast? The world may never know)

Dawn and Megan discuss a Lifetime Original Thriller, Tiny House of Terror, a story about a woman who deals with her husband going missing, moving into a tiny house, someone stealing her things, an infestation of spiders, and eventually almost getting killed. Also, a spooky magnetic VORTEX which is completely unnecessary for the plot. 

Katie and Megan tackle the Lifetime Original Movie, A Student's Obsession about a boy who falls for his bio teacher, and won't let go when she doesn't want a relationship. We go over, "wait what's next?" quite a bit, like in a tangent I've (Megan) cut, so if I seem a little overly exasperated by the timing of the poisoning, please excuse. Also, I like a moron claim that Patreon.com is spelled p-a-y-t-r-e-o-n, rather than Patreon (no y).

A woman whose ex-husband is killed in her home. The main character evades police and figures out whodunit in this mystery-comedy. College students, garbage floating in the ocean, and a giant shark that mutates to have 3 heads. What could be better? Literally nothing. Kathleen and I enjoy this a lot more than any other movie we've seen for the podcast. Watch it and listen to this!

Dawn and Megan take on a 2014 Hallmark Channel Original, "Ring by Spring." The premise? A woman hears from a fortune teller that either she will "get a ring by spring" or never get a ring then her boyfriend breaks up with her, so she tries to figure out why no one wants to marry her and falls in like with business consultant client. Tangents include me almost beginning to sing "Take on Me," us coming up with a theme song for the fortune teller that's eerily reminiscent of a Duckburg-related show's theme, the recruiting slogan for the US Army, and Dawn pining for a life of travel or at least moving to Canada if nothing else.

Megan and Kathleen (yes Kathleen is back woot!), take on a Lifetime Christmas movie called Holly Holiday. This is a movie where a mannequin comes to life (or does he?) and romances a young ad exec in an annoying fashion so that she can realize love isn't "perfect" and she can pursue her co-worker who ain't perfect but loves her. Oh, and we talk about commercials because they were just as, if not more, interesting than this movie.

In this episode Katie (from the Appetite for Love episode) returns and talks with Megan about Christmasland. They do their best to summarize the rather boring 2015 holiday movie. Hopefully, our non-linear representation gives this episode a liveliness that this movie so terribly lacked (in other words we don't talk about the plot in any sort of order). Also, we're tired it's a Monday give us a break! 

Evidence of Love: A  Lifetime Original True Crime Movie Dawn and Megan discuss a Lifetime Original Movie from the year 1990, Evidence of Love (AKA A Killing in a Small Town), a really fun Lifetime story about an ax murderer.   Also, Megan learns what wasn't in theaters in the year 1980 and a new (to her) Madonna tune. Megan tries to get  #naughtyflannelgrams trending and Dawn and Megan encourage people to express themselves so they don't fly off the ax handle.

Dawn and Megan discuss a one of those, I'm-planning-to-marry-you-but-fall-out-of-love-with-you-before-we-can-get-married movies. It uses a lot of tropes from other such movies, and is a middling film. We also address the hard-hitting issue of donut walls versus chocolate fountains at weddings. Kathleen, Dawn and I (Megan) discuss a Lifetime Derivative Thriller about two crazy kids who pretend to kill themselves just to get out of jail time. Ah, young love. For some strange reason this movie goes by two different titles, "Dying to be Loved," and "A Mother's Suspicion." 

Kathleen and I slowly have the life sucked out of us when we accidentally watch a movie on Amazon Prime that had a theatrical release. The movie, Kate's Addiction, an erotic thriller from the late '90s.

Accused at 17 is a Lifetime movie that teaches you that kidnapping is bad because it can lead to murder. In this podcast we discuss this really formulaic movie and try to figure out whether or not Kathleen went to high school (spoiler: she did).
