Keeping our heart requires: Frequency Awareness Intentionality Time Humility While our heart-keeping-efforts are important, we ultimately need the grace of God in Christ applied by the Spirit for real “heart health.” Therefore, by the power of the Spirit, you ought to be vigilant in keeping your heart. In our seventh lesson, we turn to the Apostle Paul's Letter to the Philippians 3:7-17 as we are reminded of Paul's singular focus in "forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Listen in as we learn about . . . "Obsession, Maturity, & Valuing Jesus". The value we place on Jesus can look a lot like obsession. This “Jesus-obsession” is actually a mark of maturity. When we value Jesus above everything else, we are demonstrating to everyone around us something of his true worth. The value Jesus bestows to the church is staggering.  This astonishing value can be seen in at least three ways: Jesus calls the church his bride. Jesus calls the church his body. The love and care Jesus lavishes upon the church is profound. Therefore, we ought to value Christ’s church. Join Pastor Stuart as we continue in our series, Values. In this lesson, we turn to three passages of Scripture in Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 9:6, and James 3:7-10 as we learn truths about God's . . . "Valuable People". In this lesson, we learn: People have significant value because God created us in his image. A few things we need to know about being the image of God: The image of God is not something in us or even done by us; it is our status. While sin prevents us from expressing the full measure of God’s image, our image of God status is not lost or destroyed by sin. Jesus is THE standard of the image of God. Since we have this status as God’s images, we value others above lesser goods. Therefore, you ought to Remind yourself daily about the image of God status of the people around you. Treat people accordingly. In this lesson, we learn: What God says to us is immensely valuable. God’s words are valuable to us for several reasons: They are God’s words. They are profitable to us. They show us Jesus, the Word made flesh. Therefore, we ought to spend time engaging God’s valuable words in the Scriptures. "The Joy of the Future" No matter what we experience in this age, God’s people will be full of joy in the age to come. Nothing in this life is as secure as our destiny in Christ. Knowing our destiny in Christ can bring us great joy in the present. Therefore, we ought to think about the age to come often. So, by faith and by the work of the Spirit, let’s rejoice in the destiny Christ has secured for us. Join Pastor Stuart in the tenth lesson in our series about Joy. This week, we turn our attention to the Letter of James 1:2-4 to hear the exhortation to, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds." In this sermon, Pastor Stuart teaches about . . . "Joy During Difficulties " We can have joy even in difficult, challenging, or painful  circumstances. This joy isn’t found in the circumstances themselves. Joy during difficulties is found in how we consider the circumstances. God is at work even in our most troublesome moments to make us perfect and complete in Christ. Even though we may be tempted to doubt these truths, Jesus deepens our faith. Therefore, when facing any difficulty of life, remind yourself of how the Spirit is at work in you and in others. So, by the work of the Spirit, let’s grow in finding joy even in the midst of troubling times.
