  • Obsession, Maturity, & Valuing Jesus (Phil 3:7-17)

When we value Jesus above everything else, we are demonstrating to everyone around us something of his true worth. In this lesson, we learn: People have significant value because God created us in his image. A few things we need to know about being the image of God: The image of God is not something in us or even done by us; it is our status. While sin prevents us from expressing the full measure of God’s image, our image of God status is not lost or destroyed by sin. Jesus is THE standard of the image of God. Since we have this status as God’s images, we value others above lesser goods. Therefore, you ought to Remind yourself daily about the image of God status of the people around you. Treat people accordingly. This week, we turn our attention to the Letter of James 1:2-4 to hear the exhortation to, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds." In this sermon, Pastor Stuart teaches about . . . "Joy During Difficulties " We can have joy even in difficult, challenging, or painful  circumstances. This joy isn’t found in the circumstances themselves. Joy during difficulties is found in how we consider the circumstances. God is at work even in our most troublesome moments to make us perfect and complete in Christ. Even though we may be tempted to doubt these truths, Jesus deepens our faith. Therefore, when facing any difficulty of life, remind yourself of how the Spirit is at work in you and in others.
