Not many expect teenagers to serve, especially when they discern & step up to a need when not even asked to do so.14-year-old Christian Glidden share with us a little about his experience serving the Body of Christ and, specifically, running the Audio-Visual Sound Booth for our Children's Church.(5 minutes).

The Second avenue through which we envision carrying out SCC’s Mission is OutreachAs a church, we desire to reach Cayman by persuading, through practice, and with power. The Apostle Paul set forth this example in II Corinthians 5 and Pastor Ryan lays out a very specific way that we can, as a church, impact the community starting this Fall.

Michael Myles, Ministry of Education’s program coordinator & liason officer for at-risk youth (and member of SCC), shares why investing in primary-age kids is so important both to Cayman and to him personally. (15 minutes)

The first pillar of the SCC Vision is Community. Building relationships in a church is hard enough as it is. But God's vision of community, expressed through Ephesians 2, entails more than fellowship with those you get along with. It involves relating more lovingly and fervently with people you'd vote: "Most likely to be my Enemies if it wasn't for Jesus."Thankfully, the apostle Paul gives us a Big motivation to strive for such a challenging viision.

The Second Part of our Mission at SCC is to Help people grow by His grace. As a church, we want all that we do -- Outreach, Community, Worship, Service -- to be infused and motivated by God's grace.Using the backdrop of how people in Luke 4 respond to Jesus' introduction, Pastor Ryan helps us think through: (1) What makes grace so amazing?; (2) How might a person grow by grace?; (3) How something as good as grace can become a bitter pill for people to swallow?; (4) How we as a church can grow by grace?And, by grace, we can communicate to others something very clear & relevant about this church we love.

We're a young church, but as we grow many are curious as to what they can/should/ought to tell others about our church. What are we about?Our mission at SCC: To introduce people to Jesus and help them grow by His grace.This week we examine the first part of the mission by looking at how Jesus introduces himself. Just as Pastor Ryan did, you might also discover something new about Jesus that you missed the first time around.

In makig one final plea for God's people to return to Him, he gives them two motivations to do so in the form of Visions.A Vision is that picture of possibility and a supreme motivator for doing anything truly transforming. It's the pot at the end of the rainbow, the "after" in the before/after picture, the view from the mountaintop.In looking at God's Big Vision for His peoples lives, Pastor Ryan asks:What Vision is motivating your life?What Vision are you passing on to others?

Perhaps you've lived it or you know someone who is. Perhaps your spouse is living it or a good friend. Perhaps you yourself are on the verge of living it: A man or a woman who have gone to church, perhaps even served her, then one day comes to the realization: "Why am I doing this? What's the point of jumping through all these hoops?"God gives us "the Point" (er...really two points) in Malachi 3:13-18 for God-fearers to perservere in loving and serving Him.

You've likely heard why the resurrection of Jesus matters for your future (indeed we see it in this passage). In an honest moment, you might admit: "That's great for my death bed, but irrelevant for my life now."Such thinking isn't limited to the 21st century. Some in the Corinthian church had a similar response to Jesus' resurrection. Pastor Ryan leads us through 1 Corinthians 15:12-19 and, in doing so, gives us four ways that the resurrection of Jesus matters for our Everyday Lives.

When we grow kind of fat & happy with what we've done for God or assume we have checked off all the things on our holy "TO DO" list, God encourages us to look one more place.Malachi 3:6-12 is probably the most famous and most misused passage in this small book. From this passage, Pastor Ryan gives us three reasons to be generous to God.

When we consistently fail to be faithful to our spouses through honor, submission & self-denial, the connection between us & God grows...well... fuzzy at best.Pastor Ryan works through Malachi 2: 13-16 with some practical tips as to how we can guard ourselves against faithlessness in marriage and feed ourselves for faithfulness to our spouse.

In today's world, Covenant is, at best, an archaic term and, at worst, semi-creepy.However, God relates to His people through covenants. And gaining a proper understanding & application of this Big concept helps answer our strongest objections re: how God relates to human beings and can equip us in building stronger relationships with those most signficant to us.

What a tremendous insight that the Prophet Malachi gives us about relational conflict. In just these three short verses we can learn: Conflict arises less from what we do together, but from what we worship while we're apart.Pastor Ryan explores (1) Why we should get along?; (2) Why we don't get along?; (3) How do we destroy what divides us?

In this kingdom of priests established by Christ, there are no merely behind-the-scenes desk jobs or silent parts to be played -- being God's priest is a Speaking Role.Focusing on Malachi 2:6-9, Pastor Ryan examines the 3 most common objections we raise to speaking up about our faith and what to make sure we get right when speaking about it.

If you have trusted your life to Jesus, you, my friend, are a priest. Why does this matter?If you find it important to talk with God directly, important to get understanding & wisdom from His Word directly, and important that others who don't yet know Jesus discover that there is a way to go to God directly, then the concept of priesthood is foundational for a such a direct relationship with God.Plus, we need to discover how we might be a bridge from others to Jesus just as He has been the bridge for us from death to life.

"What's in a name?" Apparently quite a lot if the name is spelled L-O-R-D (all CAPS). Our first BIG CONCEPT in Malachi is God's Name - YHWH. Pastor Ryan explains its meaning and why it is so signficant to our lives and to our understanding God's character. To underscore its importance, he felt it was almost worth locking us all out of church this morning.
