If we deny Jesus, He will deny us. If we lose our faith, He will be faithful and not deny us.

The first two statements of the Apostle Paul. If we died we live. If we endure we reign.

Paul encourages Timothy. He preaches because the word of God is not chained and so that others can receive salvation and eternal glory.

Remember Jesus as being both risen from the dead but also that He was a man, descendant of David.

Paul compares us to a hard working farmer. That farmer will receive the first of the harvest. All these comparisons will receive rewards.

Paul compares us to athletes. We must compete by the rules to receive a crown.

Paul tells Timothy to be like a soldier. A soldier suffers when they do not allow themselves to be entangled with the affairs of life.

Paul tells Timothy that the grace of God will empower him. Then he tells him to teach the words that he had heard from Paul to faithful men.

Onesiphorus was an amazing man of God. Paul tells us about this man of God who stood with him.

In this verse we see Paul's emotions as many believers have left him. Even two men that were close to Paul and Timothy.

Paul's second charge to Timothy was to guard the treasure in you. The Holy Spirit will help to guard it.

Paul gives Timothy a charge in this verse. Retain, hold on to with all your strength, to the standard of sound words.

Paul had a personal relationship with the One who he believed in. He was convince that He would guard him until the day of his death and beyond.

Paul was appointed a preacher, apostle and a teacher. He suffered because of who he was and what he did. Paul was not ashamed.

God's purpose was revealed when Jesus appeared. His purpose was to completely destroy death and to bring life. His purpose was to show that we are immortal beings.

God has saved us according to His power. He has called us with a holy calling. Not a public calling. He has saved and called us according to His purpose.

Do not be ashamed. Ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of those who have suffered. Suffer with them.

The greatest enemy of our gifting is timidity. God has given us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power, love and discipline.

Paul talks about remembering Timothy's faith. Do people remember your faith? Paul tells Timothy to bring his gifting to full flame.

Paul is longing for and remembering Timothy his beloved son in the faith. The relationship between Paul and Timothy is amazing.
