Episode 245 - Blood Passers 2
06/12/2025Episode 245 is focused on two sequels from the early 90's. We start off with 1993's "Pumpkinhead 2" where they bring back the monster from Stan Winston's original movie for a whole new story of small-town revenge. It's not as good as the original, but it has enough cheesy fun torecommend it. We follow that with "Gate 2" from 1990, which is a much more successful follow-up. Picking up where the first film left off, the story follows a young wannabe warlock who gets involved in all sorts of black magic. It's a great example of enthusiastic low-budget filmmaking, and we totally recommend it. You can email us at flickersfrom@yahoo.com or flickersfrom@gmail.com. Episode 244 - What Scares You Vol. 5 - Creepy Crawlies
01/11/2025Our Halloween tradition continues with another look at "What Scares You?". This time it's those terrible little skittering creatures that make us jump and recoil, the infamous "creepy crawlies"!!! We have a couple of movies from different eras that both feature multi-legged monsters. From way back in 1975 comes "Bug" from genre stalwart Jeannot Szwarc. It's a surprisingly bleak and rough film, with giant cockroaches that can start fires. Many people fall victim to them and the lead character, played by the legendary Bradford Dilman is driven slowly insane as he studies them. This is good pulpy stuff. We follow that with 2012's "The Bay" from director Barry Levinson. This is a really cool twist on the "Found Footage" genre, mixing together lots of different found-footaged to tell the story of a bay that is overrun by carnivorous isopods. Everything about this one is excellent and it is a truly unique framework to tell a story. Send us an email to let us know what scares YOU! You can email us at flickersfr

Episode 243 - Pay the Piper
11/10/2025Episode 243 is upon you! We are gathered here today to celebrate the incredible Mr. Brett Piper. This dude has made a ton of movies over his career, but we picked two for the episode, 1986's "Battle for the Lost Planet" and 1988's "Mutant War". Both tell the story of a future earth that has been invaded by evil aliens and our only hope is Harry Trent, played with a lot of charm in both movies by Matt Mitler. Mr. Piper wrote, directed and handled the special effects in both movies. Was there a huge budget? No. Are all of the the actors incredible? No. Are these two of the most fun movies we've seen? YES! We urge you to seek these out on Tubi or wherever you can find them. Have a beer and lose yourself in a few hours of the best low-budget filmmaking we've seen in a while! Please let us know what you thought of the show, and send us some suggestions for future episodes. You can email us at flickersfrom@yahoo.com or flickersfrom@gmail.com. Episode 242 - Jackstream
14/09/2025Episode 242 is here with some fantastically fun scifi movies! We start off with "Slipstream" from 1989. Starring Mark Hamill and Bill Paxton with a truly impressive upporting cast. It's an interesting post-apocalyptic story that largely focuses on AI and the ultimate question of just what makes something "alive". It has issues here and there but it's really throught-provoking and moves along at a quick pace. We follow that with 1992's "Freejack" which stars Emilio Estevez and Mick Jagger. This one also has an amazing amount of A-Listers filling in the cast. The story here involves a sort of time travel and the pursuit of immortality. Big themes, big action set-pieces, and very big ambitions throughout! Please let us know what you thought of the show, and send us some suggestions for future episodes. Episode 241 - Psychic Crimes
03/08/2025We are back for episode 241 where we look at an entirely different type of "mind crime". We start off with 1982's "The Clairvoyant" also known as "The Killing Hour". This focuses on an artist who has violent dreams that seem to be depicting a series of murders around the city. It's a totally solid thriller with a truly surprising twist at the end. We follow that with a real rarity, a film from 1992 called "Small Kill". It features a surprising lead performance from none other than MASH's own Radar O'Reilly, Gary Burghoff as a murderous pedophile and extortionist. It's good, grim stuff with mostly solid performances and plenty of scenes that will completely skeeve you out. We recommend both movies very highly. Please let us know what you thought of the show, and send us some suggestions for future episodes. You can email us at flickersfrom@yahoo.com or flickersfrom@gmail.com. Episode 239 - Angel Wings
08/06/2025We lost the legendary Wings Hauser recently, so we decided to pick two films out of his enormous filmography for this episode of the podcast. Both films are from 1988, and we start off with "The Carpenter" from director David Wellington. It focuses on a couple that has moved into an old house, and, while making repairs, they realize there might be a ghostly presence in the home with a very violent streak. It's interesting with some bizarre moments, and Wings is up to his normal, charming, shenanigans. We follow that with "Nightmare at Noon", which is basically a remake of the 1984 movie "Mutant" which we covered in episode 219, including pairing Wings back up with Bo Hopkins! It's a lot of fun with crazy stunts throughout! Please let us know what you thought of the show, and send us some suggestions for future episodes. Episode 238 - Truck Be a Lady Tonight
12/04/2025For episode 238, we are back on the highway, with our foot pressing the accelerator all the way to the floor, while we try to outrun that crazy person in the truck! We start off with 2001's "Joy Ride" which stars the VERY young Steve Zahn and Paul Walker as two brothers who pull a prank on the WRONG guy! We follow that with 2003's "Monster Man" where two guys who AREN'T brothers pull a prank on the WRONG guy! Notice any similarities in those plots? Regardless, these two films are a blast and we can't wait to tell you all about them! Please let us know what you thought of the show, and send us some suggestions for future episodes. Episode 237 - Flickers from the Cock Pit
03/03/2025Welcome to the hellscape that is 2025! We are back in the cave for episode 237, this time looking at two films from 1973, both shot largely in the Phillipines and both featuring dangerous women! We start off with "Devil Woman" which is known by several different names (and also listed with a variety of release dates) which focuses on a magical woman with snakes for hair who is seeking revenge on the people that killed her family. It's low-budget fun but not "good" by any metric. We follow that with "Wonder Women" fom show-favorite direct Robert Vincent O'Neil and with a stellar cast lead by Ross Hagen and Nancy Kwan. The plot revolves around an evil scientist with a money-making scheme to transplant healthy body parts from unwilling donors onto the bodies of rich people. Along comes agent Hagen who settles everybody's hash! It's a blast from beginning to end! Please let us know what you thought of the show, and send us some suggestions for future episodes. Episode 236 - A Flickers Thing
27/12/2024Please consider episode 236 to be our late Christmas present to you all! We are looking at two recent films from director Ryan Kruger, starting off with Fried Barry from 2020. This is such a trippy, insane and full-tilt experience that it might leave you scratching your head the first time you watch it. This isn't a bad thing since it only gets better each time you watch it! We follow that up with 2024's Street Trash, which is a sequel to the 1987 film of the same name. Though it has moments where it seems like it's trying to make a point about corporations and society, it's really just a really fun Troma-inspired movie with some great splattery effects, and some genuinely hilarious comedy. We highly recommend BOTH films! Please let us know what you thought of the show, and send us some suggestions for future episodes. You can email us at flickersfrom@yahoo.com or flickersfrom@gmail.com.
