My dog gets car sick, what do I do?
08/05/2013 Duration: 31minMy dog Paco, passed away last year. He was 13yrs old, a great dog that had a great life …and above anything else he LOVED to ride in the car. I took him everywhere. I have a new dog now, Sadie, a Sheppard mix that I found at the local pound. It was love at first sight and we are having a great time together, except for one big thing. Sadie has yet, in the six months I’ve had her, been able to ride in any vehicle without getting sick. I so want to be able to take her with me when I go out like I did with Paco, but it is clear that it is no fun for her yet. My question is this, are there ways I can work with Sadie that will help her to be able to ride in the car without getting sick? Also, I have thought that maybe I need to relax into allowing her to be a stay at home dog? Can you help us? Join Suzy this week as she addresses these questions.

Jamie's dog is food aggressive, what can be done about that?
10/04/2013 Duration: 32minJamie writes: We've only had Koda for 6 months but she's about 4 years old, we think. She is a great dog in every way except she doesn't do well with other dogs and it seems like she has personal space issues with them, and she guards her food and water from the cat. She went after a dog that came up behind her a couple of different times, and growled at the cat (who she normally is fine with) when he came into the room while she had a rawhide bone. She is never otherwise aggressive, seems fine with children and all people, even large groups. I would love to help her get over these behaviors - she's really a sweetheart but we really want her to be ok in these situations.

Rescue Dog: Hides when he hears his name
28/02/2013 Duration: 31minReggie is an American pit-bull terrier I adopted as a rescue dog from south Texas. His journey to my home wasn’t the easiest and consequently it’s taken some time for all of us to adjust. The main question I have is related to a specific response Reggie has whenever he is addressed in any way (whether asking him to do something, or just saying hi). As soon as he hears his name he begins to run for cover, into the crate, under the table, behind the chair, anywhere he can. Then he needs to be talked down a bit, and then he’s okay. Just haven’t been able to short circuit this response pattern, what would you suggest? Join Suzy this week as she addresses this question.

My friend is afraid of dogs-How can I help her?
21/02/2013 Duration: 31minHi Suzy, A new friend came by my house for the first time, not realizing that I had a dog, she came into the yard and right up to the front door. Ben, my Rhodesian ridgeback, is instantly on high alert, which is completely normal behavior for him. When I opened the door he is behind me and barking his loud, deep “who are you” bark. I told him to be quiet, but by this time my friend is outside the gate and clearly upset. Leaving Ben in the house I approached my friend to see what was up, she explained that she had been bitten severely when she was little and has been afraid of dogs ever since. Now she has been over several times and although she generally gets along with Ben she is still not relaxed in my house until I let Ben outside. I try to reassure her, but it doesn’t do much good. Is there any way for Ben and I to help my friend let go of her fear? I would love to hear you thoughts on this issue of dealing with dog aggression without the fear, thank you.
