Today on Line Noise we welcome one of my favourite musicians of all time: Laetitia Sadier, of Stereolab, Monade, the Laetitia Sadier Source Ensemble and also a fantastic solo artist. I caught up with her in May when she played in Barcelona with the Source Ensemble. In the interview we talked about France, politics, not being a Marxist, religion, the age of Aquarius, water shortage and so much more, including her brilliant recent album Rooting For Love, which is out now on Drag City. To mark the 20th anniversary of famed British label Hyperdub, Line Noise organised a round-table interview with four of the label's key artists - founder Kode9, Ikonika, DJ Haram and Heavee - at Primavera Sound 2024. In episode four, we talk to Ian Pooley, the German house pioneer who was resident DJ at Nitsa in its early years. He shared his memories of the club and of the best Barcelona food, and talked about his career, from releasing his first record at 17 to touring with Daft Punk. My guest on Line Noise this week is the abundantly prolific, genre-agnostic, garage, dubstep and broken beat pioneer Zed Bias, who is this year celebrating 25 years of Zed Bias. I caught up with him to talk about the Milton Keynes Sanctuary, low points, musical genres and Rick Rubin.

A couple of weeks ago I packed up my microphone and recorder and made the short hop to Hospitalet, where I interviewed the fabulous ML Buch, a Copenhagen-based composer, producer, guitarist and vocalist, ahead of her gig at the Pumarejo. Speed Dealer Moms are John Frusciante, probably best known as the guitar player from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Aaron Funk, aka Venetian Snares, a producer who defies your 4/4 time signatures in the name of brilliantly experimental electronic sounds. In what was their first ever joint interview, I spoke to John and Aaron about listening to music differently, 16-hour jams, friendship in music, actual speed dealer moms, jungle, Bangface and so much more. Today on Line Noise my guest is one of my early idols in electronic music: Dave Clarke, one of the first British producers to really put his stamp on techno music and a DJ of incredible skill. His iconic single Red 2 is now available digitally for the first time to mark its 30th anniversary; and it will be followed by a big box set later this year, including a Remastered version of his Archive One Album. In this interview we talked about everything from big kick drums to experiencing homelessness, hardcore to hip hop, passing by Daft Punk, journalism and Mark Lanegan.
