Four executives/founders share their perspectives about the Atlantic Venture Forum, prepping for presentations and the Atlantic Canada ecosystem. The second edition of the Forum is taking place in Halifax, Canada on June 17 and 18, 2014.

It should be no surprise that Halifax is a world leader in the oceans sector, given its strategic location on North America’s east coast, the focus of its universities andcommunity college, and the depth of its science-based workforce. Dr. Martha Crago, Vice President of Research at Dalhousie, speaks about Halifax's global leadership in marine science and oceans related business. 

Given its strategic location as a gateway to other parts of the world, Halifax has a strong history in aerospace and defence. As a $1.6 billion industry, a number of world-class aerospace and defence companies are located in the region.  Ken Howard, VP Government Relations at the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Nova Scotia (ADIANS), speaks about Halifax's strength in aerospace and defence. 

Halifax is Atlantic Canada’s hub city and financial services capital. Halifax is the regional headquarters of Canada’s largest banks - “the Big 5” and home to the majority of Canada’s top insurance firms.  Bill Adams, regional Vice President for the Insurance Bureau of Canada, speaks about Halifax's strength as a financial centre. 

As the heart of Atlantic Canada’s Gateway, Halifax, NS is the transload hub for imports destined to the Midwest and Central Canada. The Halifax Gateway is comprised of the Halifax Stanfield International Airport,the Port of Halifax, two post-Panamax container terminals, CN Rail, a strong logistics and warehousing sector and excellent highway infrastructure. Joyce Carter, Chair of the Halifax Gateway Council, speaks about the Halifax Gateway and its significant role in the national and international transportation sector.
