We've all got a decision to make about Jesus. If you believe the story of the resurrection, It changes your life. Suppose you decide that you don't believe the resurrection story and chose not to follow Jesus. You've got another question to ask; If not Jesus, then who? Who will you follow?

Jesus continually told his followers to fear not, but he also told His followers to fear God. He wants us to fear the right thing. When we fear less, we are able to live more.

What does it look like to take a step towards Jesus in faith? Baptism is a way for us to commit ourselves to Jesus and his way of life. Our baptism service is a celebration of many people deciding to follow the way of Jesus.

We can all agree that Jesus was a bold person. He made a lot of controversial statements. The statement we think is the most controversial was when Jesus said, "Noone comes to the Father except through me." That's an exclusive statement about an inclusive claim.

Two-thirds of American adults (66%) say they believe the biblical accounts of the physical resurrection of Jesus are accurate. One-third disagrees, or they're not sure. If someone asked you about the resurrection today, what would your answer be? How does that change the way you live?

Jesus told people that he would know that they loved God by the way that they loved people. He didn't just say some people or those people; Jesus said we need to love all people just like him.

Have you ever spent time looking at how the early followers of Jesus changed the world? It's an incredible story, and the way they did it was NOT by making a point. Early Christians had no platform, they had no leverage in culture, they had hardly any money, they had very little organization, they had nothing, and yet they brought about cultural change. The mission of the church is to tell the world that God has done something in the world by how we live!

When we talk about the story of the prodigal son, we often talk about one lost son. But when you take a closer look at the story, there are two lost sons. The older brother may have done all the "right things," but he was still lost at the end of the day. He didn't take on a posture of love and celebration towards his brother's return.

"Coming home" to God can seem like an intimidating decision. It can be easy to believe the lie that we need to clean ourselves up first. But that is not what God expects you to do. God says, come with all of your brokenness, come with all of the things that you think separate us, and I will clean you up.

The natural pull for every person in the world is to be focused on ourselves. When Jesus comes along, he says that needs to change. He tells us there is ONE thing that we need to partner with him to do. Our mission is to find the lost, broken, and needy people who do not know Him and share the hope of Jesus. The Church is not here to be a social club for the 99; the church is a launching pad for the 99 to find the ONE.

God has offered His forgiveness, love, and hope to everyone in this world. Everyone can freely receive what God is offering, yet 190 million people in America have not received it yet. God has given us the mission of sharing that gift with those in our communities. If we want to get on board with that mission, then we need to value what God values. God values the lost ONE.

The Church has a mission. Sometimes we forget what that mission is. Sometimes we value methods and politics over the mission. In 2020 the Church may have discovered a little mission drift. A little mission confusion. Just "a little" may seem okay, but friends, just okay is not okay, especially when it comes to the church. In 2021 let's focus on the mission. Let's focus on the kingdom as we continue to know Jesus and love like Him.

Too often in 2020, we found ourselves investing time, money, and energy into winning arguments that God never asked us to. God asked us to do one thing; Love people like Him. We're not here to WIN arguments; we're here to Love people. In 2021 let's stop throwing stones and start washing feet.

We have to admit it; we are all impacted and attracted to the American dream. The American dream is all about more. All about me first living. When Jesus came, he brought the kingdom of heaven with Him; He also brought the Kingdom Dream. The Kingdom dream is all about less. When we focus on the Kingdom dream, we actively choose to increase our standard of loving instead of just increasing our standard of living.

Mental wellness is a topic that can get lost in the church. More often than not, the church becomes a group of people that are just okay at dealing with depression and anxiety. In 2021, we need to do better at being open, honest, and loving when it comes to this topic. We need to remind ourselves and our communities that God is so close he could reach out and touch us in our brokenness.
