  • Midwest Monsters Episode 107 - A Tribute to George A. Romero

    01/01/2018 Duration: 01h28min

As we say hello to a new year, we say goodbye to a legend. George A. Romero was many things: a visionary, a rebel, independent, intelligent, warm, loyal and so much more; but equally as important, he was loved. He was loved deeply by his family, friends and his fans. He has inspired generation after generation, not only with social commentary but also with an independent filmmaker mythos. His mark left is undeniable and his presence in the horror community is severely missed already. George A. Romero once said “If I fail, the film industry writes me off as another statistic. If I succeed, they pay me a million bucks to fly out to Hollywood and fart.” Thankfully for all of us, George always kept that in mind and made what he wanted to make. Join us as we celebrate the career of one of our favorite filmmakers. The show is available now on iTunes, podbean, mixcloud and our blog. We hope you enjoy the show and Happy New Year!

  • Midwest Monsters Episode 103 - Horror Through the Year

    02/11/2017 Duration: 54min

Like many of you, most of us on the show love seasonal and themed viewings. Whether it’s a fictional date in a film or a certain time of year that generates feelings that align with a perfectly timed viewing, it always adds more to the experience. We’ve covered some seasons (Winter and Summer), we’ve covered elements (atmosphere and rules), we’ve covered holidays (Halloween, Christmas) but what about the rest of the year? Sure heading to Haddonfield on Halloween or Crystal Lake for some camping, is always fun; but so is heading to Amity Island for the 4th of July or down into South Texas in mid-August! On this episode we run through the calendar year filling in the gaps we haven’t covered yet! Available now on iTunes, Podbean, Mixcloud and our blog. We hope you enjoy the show!

  • Midwest Monsters Episode 100 - The "A Nightmare on Elm Street" Franchise: A Revisit Special

    15/09/2017 Duration: 01h57min

We went back to Haddonfield and Camp Crystal Lake, so naturally it’s time to return to Springwood for our 100TH EPISODE! We are very excited, not only to reach triple digit shows but also to examine this franchise again. Some of the Grizz and I’s opinion were contested by others, including our three co-hosts joining this time around. As previously performed, we cover each entry with reassessments from the Grizz and Wagstaff as well as opinions from Vinny, Todd and Rybones. It has been quite a fun ride getting here with you all and this episode is no exception as we had such a fun time recording. Sure, it got a little heated at times – but passionate fandom will do that. Thank you for riding with us this far. We sincerely appreciate your support. Now go write us a review on iTunes! We hope you enjoy the show which is now available on iTunes, podbean, mixcloud and our blog.

On the last episode we returned to Haddonfield and now its time to head back for some summer antics, premarital sex, partying and camping at Camp Crystal Lake. Like before, we run through all of the franchise entries as Grizzly and Wagstaff reassess their opinions, while Vinny, Todd, and Rybones share theirs. Now available on iTunes, podbean, mixcloud and our blog. We hope you enjow the sh-sh-sh-show!

  • Midwest Monsters Episode 98 - The Halloween Franchise: A Revisit Special

    15/08/2017 Duration: 01h33min

As we round the corner towards our 100th episode milestone, we are taking some time to revisit some old friends! Hint – friends that we all know by their first name . As fans, our relationships with films change over time from different experiences, repeat viewings and our very own constantly changing perspectives. So we thought it would be fun to take a trip back to some of the most beloved horror franchises of our generation, not only to re-evaluate and weigh against our previous opinions on earlier episodes, but also to lend an opportunity for our three newer co-hosts, who weren’t there then, to share their thoughts. We hope you have at least half as much fun listening, as we did recording them! Now available on iTunes, podbean, mixcloud and our blog.
