As Jesus enters the city of Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, He is causing an uproar in the city and the lives of those present.

Acts 13:26-43 As Paul continues his address to those at the Synagogue in Pisidia, he turns his attention to the person and work of Jesus. Because Jesus is the new and ultimate King, every person (Jew or Gentile) have access to the forgiveness of sins and being made right with their Creator. What makes the good news, “good news,” is the truth that no matter who we are, what we have done, or where we have come from, we can be made right with God through Jesus.

Acts 13:13-25 Paul and his companions move on from Paphos to Pisidia—a town in modern-day Turkey—a familiar place for Paul. While at the synagogue on the Sabbath, the priest in charge of the service invite Paul to speak a word of encouragement to those in attendance. To which Paul uses this platform to share the story of Jesus, a descendant of David, as the Savior of Israel (and ultimately, the world). But, do we really need to be saved? And, what do we need saving from?

Acts 13:1-12 Saul (soon to be called Paul), Barnabas, and John Mark head out on their first of three round-trip ministry journey’s through the Roman Empire. As can often be the case, setting out to do something new in the name of Jesus will bring problems, difficulty, and confrontation. But, the church is sent into the world to bring redemption. Which means when we face opposition we must do so head on for the sake of the redeeming power of the Gospel. Which is exactly what Saul does in the face of the sorcerer, Elymas, in Paphos.

Temptation doesn't make appointments, so be prepared when it arrives.

Acts 10:34-48 Peter and his companions will soon realize that the gospel truly is for all people. Even for Roman politicians and centurions. As they tell those at Cornelius’ house about Jesus, the people listening are transformed, filled with the Holy Spirit, and baptized. Astonished and in awe, Peter begins to fully understand the reach of the gospel and that it has no boundaries.

Shepherds in the first century were considered outcasts. They were drop outs who had few skills to offer society and so they stayed on the fringes of society, caring for and tending their sheep. On Christmas, though, there was something in the air that they could not ignore. Something new was happening that they had to see for themselves. And, regardless of their status, that Christmas night changed everything for them.

The Magi were lead by a star to the manager of Jesus. Going to Him was the greatest moment of their lives. The star they followed was a sign for them and all people, to go towards Jesus. Christmas is a reminder to us that the chosen one, the one who came to save, calls out to us to come His way and worship.

Isaiah 9:6-7 For so long the people of God yearned for the coming Messiah. Prior to Jesus arrival at Christmas, this was the heartbeat of God’s people. They felt lost and afraid of what was to come. They simply wished and hoped God would finally send the Savior the world needed. No longer do we have to wish, though. He has come. The Messiah is here. All we need to do is remember.
