Episodes

  • The Who's He? Podcast Awards 2011

    31/12/2011 Duration: 25min

In a change from the usual programme, the Who's He? team bring you the Who's He? Podcast awards 2011, celebrating the best and worst that Doctor Who and Torchwood had to offer over the last year in a star studded show from the Norwich Theatre Royal (though this may be a lie). The lads apologise in advance for the tongue in cheek approach but unfortunately there are no refunds as they need the money to get out of the country. Thanks to: Josef Kenny for the Doctor Who theme remix.

  • Who's He? Podcast #042 Voices singing lets be jolly

    29/12/2011 Duration: 01h03min

Stuffed full of turkey and Christmas cheer (that means booze), Phil and Paul let rip on this years Doctor Who Christmas special, The Doctor, The Widow And The Wardrobe. Did they like what they saw or were they not that struck on this years festive offering? As well as giving their opinion on the special, they go wildly off tangent and start discussing Doctor Who Confidential (again!!) and also announce the next podcast from the Who's He? team. All this plus the latest news that's now over a week out of date. So that would be the latest olds then.

  • Who's He? Podcast #041 The ragged men in the ragged clothes

    17/12/2011 Duration: 49min

In their last podcast before Christmas, the Who's He? team delve back into series 5 with a look at Vincent And The Doctor. During their discussion of this episode, Phil and Paul ask should Richard Curtis come back and again for Doctor Who and they also rename the Space Chicken to Space Turkey in light of the festive season. They also give sound advice on what to do with the carcass of a dead giant Space Turkey that can feed an entire village for months. Also in the news this week, the Ponds are leaving Doctor Who, no two part stories in series 7, more movie rumblings and the first classic Who DVD releases of 2012. And not forgetting a very merry Christmas to all our listeners!

  • Who's He? Podcast #040 This time you've gone too far

    12/12/2011 Duration: 49min

This week, Paul and Phil take a look back at Cold Blood in the continuation of their retrospective of series 5. However, they are a little distracted this week as shortly before recording, official confirmation came through from the the BBC that two long lost episodes of Doctor Who had been rediscovered. And what with the announcement this week of a Doctor Who game for consoles and the PC, Phil was on cloud nine. Pity then that they had to talk about a bit of a damp squib of a Who story afterwards. It ruined the mood somewhat.

  • Who's He? Podcast #039 Don't dig there, dig it elsewhere

    05/12/2011 Duration: 46min

After two weeks of audio commentary, Phil and Paul return to reviewing duties with a look back at The Hungry Earth. However, neither of them can work up much enthusiasm for this story as not a lot really happens apart from some gaping holes in logic. So the result is an underwhelming and rather dull podcast. Sorry folks. But during this weeks news items, Phil makes his own entertainment by convincing Paul that he's always wanted to keep fish in a Doctor Who themed aquarium. We also have to apologise for the sound quality in the news section as Phil had his micrphone on the wrong setting. The berk.

  • Who's He? Podcast #038 Everybody have fun tonight

    26/11/2011 Duration: 01h37min

Yes, it's the second part of the Who's He? audio commentary for The Talons Of Weng-Chiang, episodes 4 to 6. And in this part, comparisions are made between Weng-Chiang and everyones favourite squid from Futurama and Tony sheds light on Weng-Chiangs succsessful recording career post Talons, though Tony had trouble with his vowels. And in the news the final total on the auction of Matt Smiths Doctor Who costume for Children In Need and the continuing saga of the planned Doctor Who movie. Also, Phil and Paul try to justify why they are going to next years Doctor Who convention when most Who podcasters are staying away.

  • Who's He? Podcast #037 So many years ago heroes ruled the world

    20/11/2011 Duration: 01h29min

It's that time of the month!! The Who's He? three are back with an audio commentary for The Talons of Weng-Chiang, episodes 1 to 3. And as last month, Tony gets really excited with his facts but this time runs out of steam after episode 1. As Phil and Paul try desperately to calm him down, they valiantly try to continue with their own version of events. They also go through the news this week that a Doctor Who film is in the offing and also announce that the Who's He? Podcast will be attending the official convention next year and talk about the trailer for the Christmas special. And Tony gets to hear Let's Save Confidential by No Touch Pod which fair takes his breath away.

  • Who's He? Podcast #036 it felt like the world would freeze

    14/11/2011 Duration: 56min

The lads continue to plough on with the series 5 retrospective with one of their favourite stories from that series, Amy's Choice. Try as they might, they both felt they were struggling with this one as they both agree that this is still one of the best episodes of series 5 but there was nothing to moan about! And an episode of the Who's He? Podcast just isn't the same without someone whinging about something. Oh I forgot, they whinged about one of this weeks news items, which is the announcement of an official BBC Doctor Who Convention next year which is going to cost the punters £99 per ticket! Still, aside from that, they'll see you there!

  • Who's He? Podcast #035 Son, you'll never need to smell the black canal

    07/11/2011 Duration: 01h08min

In this weeks episode, the retrospective of series 5 continues with The Vampires Of Venice. While neither Paul nor Phil were particuarly looking forward to re-watching this episode, they were both surprised at how much they actually enjoyed it. However, things wouldn't be the same if they didn't pick holes in something and this week it's perception filters!! Also in a slow news week, the Who's He? Podcast news desk brings you Doctor Who Christmas decorations and the news of The Gunpowder Plot adventure game that Paul couldn't care less about. Things also go off on a tangent as usual by the end of the show and Phil admits to knowing a man in a rubber suit.

  • Who's He? Podcast #034 I know you from a previous incarnation

    31/10/2011 Duration: 55min

This week, a sleep deprived Paul and a chipper Phil continue their look back at series 5 with Flesh And Stone. Here they discuss whether this story proves that not all two part stories have weak second parts and whether Amy throwing herself at the Doctor does or does not seem out of place in what is essentially a childrens programme. And with the announcement that a clip of this years Christmas special will be on this years Children In Need, Phil wonders why we have to sit through hours of dancing newsreaders to see a couple of minutes of Who? Let's get this straight though, Children In Need is a worthy cause. Phil just doesn't like dancing newsreaders.

  • Who's He? Podcast #033 I see her face and run to take her hand

    24/10/2011 Duration: 01h03min

Now that there is no more new Doctor Who, the lads go back to their series 5 retrospective with The Time Of Angels. Nothing can be found wrong with this story as both Phil and Paul enjoyed revisiting this episode and both wax lyrical as to how great it is. Shame about the news section though. In another slow news week, they start off well with the Matt Smith leaving rumours and then end up shamelessly padding things out by talking about Jon Pertwee whilst on a trip down Doctor Who memory lane. All together now, "Memories....like the corners of my mind...."

  • Who's He? Podcast #032 Brush shoulders with the stars

    16/10/2011 Duration: 01h41min

After a long break it's audio commentary time and that means Tony is back to join Phil and Paul to have a good look at The Five Doctors. This time, Tony was set a challenge to come up with fascinating facts about this story and we'll let you decide whether he rose to the challenge or not. Also during this episode, the lads compare the coffee shop style of the Gallifrey High Council Chambers and the Club Tropicana look of the Tardis, the changes in depth of vision on Gallifrey and in a news section that is struggling for content, Drashig glove puppets and the merits of The Good Life underpants!

  • Who's He? Podcast #031 We're going to stick up the past

    09/10/2011 Duration: 01h35min

In a long edition of the Who's He? Podcast, Phil and Paul take a look back and see what they enjoyed and disliked about series 6 of Doctor Who. There's not many laughs to be had as the two of them take this rather seriously and go through the story arc of River Song as they see it and all the standalone episodes one by one. This was made especially difficult for Paul who has....the lurgi!! Yes, this show is unclean and riddled with germs but Paul managed to hold it together and not cough his lungs up and croak it live on air. Though that would have been a podcast first.

  • Who's He? Podcast #030 They go together like a horse and carriage

    03/10/2011 Duration: 01h07min

This week the Who's He? team cast their eye over the series finale, The Wedding Of River Song. Amongst the spectacle, do we finally get answers to the questions raised this series? All this is discussed in a rather serious edition of the show along with the sad news of the demise of Doctor Who Confidential this week.

  • Who's He? Podcast #029 Hats, underwear and shoes….going up!

    25/09/2011 Duration: 52min

On this edition of the Who's He? Podcast, the reviewing duo take a look at the penultimate episode of series 6, Closing Time. Unfortunately, after a run of cracking episodes, it comes to a halt with this episode which Paul and Phil are very disappointed with. During their discussion about the episode and this weeks news, they talk about pithy subjects such as the press's obsession with Doctor Who's viewing figures and cyber suits for the larger gentleman. However, they are both looking forward to the series finale, which Phil forgets the name of.

  • Who's He? Podcast #028 Too much, too little, too late

    19/09/2011 Duration: 51min

This is it folks, the last episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day for Phil and Paul to get their teeth into. And I am sorry to say that while Paul enjoyed this series, Phil is his ususal miserable self when it comes to Torchwood. While Paul has gone through this series with a spring in his step and laugh in his voice, Phil has gone through this series with lead in his boots and anger in his soul. However, he does cheer up as this is the last in the series and won't have to watch it again. Ever. So he's put the bunting out and had a little drink to celebrate. And Paul has the DVD on pre-order to enjoy it all again.

  • Who's He? Podcast #027 I can't dream well because of my horn

    18/09/2011 Duration: 54min

In the first of two podcasts this week, Paul and Phil ramble on about this weeks episode of Doctor Who, The God Complex. Do they think that his episode continues the recent trend of great episodes? Well they try first with the power of thought and then fall back on the tried and tested method of speech as their levels of extra sensory perception are...well....rubbish really. They eventually get their acts together and deliver a polished episode worthy of a TV Choice award. And if you believe that, you'll believe anything.

  • Who's He? Podcast #026 Make each hour bright and bring your gladness

    12/09/2011 Duration: 43min

In the second of this weeks podcasts, Phil and Paul cast their eye over episode 9 of Torchwood: Miracle Day. Will Phil ever really enjoy this series or is he destined to spend the remainder of this days a bitter and twisted individual planning ways to get the hours back that he spent watching this? Will Paul ever lose his composure or will he remain calm, collected and continue to enjoy this series of Torchwood not matter what it's faults may be? Tune in to this episode to find out!

  • Who's He? Podcast #025 Two little lovebirds, cuckoo to you

    11/09/2011 Duration: 01h02min

In the first of two podcasts this week, the lads cast their eye over Night Terrors and The Girl Who Waited. What will they think of these two standalone episodes? Well, quite a bit actually! For once they can both agree that despite the mixed response these two episodes have received, these are great episodes of Doctor Who! Standby for Phil waxing lyrical about Murray Gold's score and Paul not regretting his rushed viewing after getting back from holiday! A happy time is had by all but don't worry, they will be back to their normal miserable selves in the next show out tomorrow!

  • Who's He? Podcast #024 The man is dead, the man is dead

    03/09/2011 Duration: 53min

In their second podcast of the week, the Who's He? Podcast take a look at episode 8 of Torchwood: Miracle Day. Phil feels slightly disappointed at this weeks episode, while Paul just enjoys it the happy go lucky chap that he is. All this plus Doctor Who and Torchwood news and the pair of them stick up for Steven Moffat over some rather unsavoury tweets sent in his direction and completely off topic, Phil uses this podcast as a platform to vent his fury at George Lucas for mucking around with Star Wars again!
