Robbie Nevil started his musical career as a songwriter and session guitarist and soon transitioned to the role of recording artist where he landed a chart-topping hit with “Cest La Vie”. That led to a steady stream of hits as a songwriter and producer with songs on more than 35 gold & platinum albums.

SOLO, the dual-single project and short film, is a statement of independence and strength. The naming of this project coincides with all of the independent work I put into creating the songs and spearheading the video production. Writing, arranging and engineering from my living room studio, in my small Harlem apartment pushed me to create something very natural to me that emphasized how I felt at the time. As an indie artist its often difficult to find the help needed to create records so I spend time learning how to do it all myself. I work remotely to get production and mixing done which costs a fraction of the $$. SOLO is a statement of me being a true solo artist and confidently calming my independence with the music I create. It also has a counter meaning based on the songs included. Singer-songwriter Nekiya Ade was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles. From those streets to the stage of the El Rey Theatre (opening for Grammy-winning artist Mya), Ade assembled a “Tribe” armed with her signature “Adetude.”    Her Tribe is fearless. Her Tribe is rebellious.  Ade’s debut EP LIT (2017) was followed by two singles in 2018, “A Way to Your Heart” and “Who She.”  “Who She” signaled Ade’s shift toward the everywoman and gave her Tribe an empowered retro hip-hop anthem to rail against the patriarchy. In 2019, she returned to the studio for a collaboration with Strokes and I.Am.Ueno for “Boyz Come and Go.”  Lyrically, she declared, “I’ma give what you ask for, real talk. You don’t know what you in for.”  Her Tribe got hungry.  So Ade began preparing her next EP, Appetizer (set to serve in 2020). Appetizer was designed to whet the palates of the Tribe for what’s to come – to relate Ade to her Tribe - to grow her Tribe – and to be more honest about her experience.
