  • 10. Bump of Chicken

    27/03/2017

Medium Well is in a bit of a pickle this week. He couldn't record a full segment, but he has left you with some music that he believes speaks for itself. Bump of Chicken, somewhat silly name notwithstanding, is one of the most accomplished alt-rock bands to come out of Japan and achieve international acclaim. Because Medium couldn't take you through each track, here's the track list for this week: AnswerKarmaRecord of my Troubles with Separating the GarbageHAPPYLetter to the CosmonautFighterAs always, if you like what you've heard, please support the artist. Fortunately, their work is on Amazon for purchase. Also, if you want to say hello or give us ideas for future artists, be sure to hit us on Twitter @sutekijam or email at sutekijamradio@gmail.com.

  • 8. Thunderbolt Fantasy Part 1

    12/03/2017

In this week's Suteki Jam, GK is doing this best impression of a member from Whales are Whales that you may recognize. It's still very obvious that it's GK though so don't be concerned with that. After all, we're here for the music, and what a doozy we have this week. Thunderbolt Fantasy is just about the best thing to happen to anime in years, and it's especially impressive as it's just a bunch of puppets murdering each other. The music is a perfect accoutrement composed by Xenoblade X and Kill La Kill composer Hiroyuki Sawano. It might just be his best work, however, which is why it's gonna be in two parts. If you can't wait to hear part 2, you can just go ahead and purchase the soundtrack from Amazon. We here at Suteki Jam highly recommend it. If you want to follow us on Twitter, be sure to do so @SutekiJam or via email at sutekijamradio@gmail.com

  • 7. Albatrosicks

    06/03/2017

On this week's Suteki Jam, Medium Well introduces one of his favorite indie bands of all time - Albatrosicks. Much like The Gorillas, Albatrosicks is a fictional band composed of star explorers from the future named miko+Resurrection, quim_underconstruction↓ and Dr.ARM. Their music is a blend of rock, electronic and whatever else Dr.ARM can think of as he composes every piece himself with the other two providing lyrics and vocals. If you like what you've heard, be sure to support Albatrosicks through Amazon, iTunes or Spotify. They're one of the few Japanese bands that make their work available to Western audiences and they certainly deserve any cash you can throw their way. Oh, and be sure to check out their incredible music videos. As always, be sure to follow Suteki Jam on Twitter @sutekijam or reach us via email at sutekijamradio@gmail.com.

  • 5. Panty and Stocking

    19/02/2017

What do you get when anime fully endorses the lifestyle set forth by Marcy Playground? Panty and Stocking, that's what! The irreverent anime hit from 2010 also happens to have some of the best music the medium has ever seen. Join GK (I think?) as he explores the music behind the madness. On this week's Playlist: Theme from Panty and StockingD City RockFly AwayTheme for Scanty and KneesocksCorset ThemeChampionFallen AngelFor those interested in purchasing the full album (which I highly recommend), it's available on Amazon. If you've enjoyed today's show, be sure to let us know on iTunes, Twitter @sutekijam and gmail at sutekijamradio@gmail.com.ST3K will be back next week with some more video game music.

  • 4. Point. - Primary

    12/02/2017

Medium Well is back with another tasty selection of indie jams. This week is the super duo known as Primary comprised of producer Meis Clauson and lyricist/singer Yuiko. For the past decade, the two have crafted one of the best pop rock groups in the indie scene. For this week's selection, we're playing the entirety of Primary's 12th album Point. It largely adheres to the format that made the group such a hit to begin with, but there's a bit of experimentation as well. Overall, it's a great album and a great introduction to one of the strongest voices in Japanese music. If you've enjoyed this, be sure to check out Primary's Web site. Be sure to also follow them on Twitter. If you'd like to get in touch with us, you can do so at Twitter or at gmail at sutekijamradio@gmail.com.

  • 2. Aikatsu Mix Vol. 1

    30/01/2017

Suteki Jam was founded on the belief that Japanese music can change the world. Unfortunately, Medium Well, that being me, and ST3K could only provide the best in indie and game music. We didn't have a dedicated anime block. That's where Whales are Whales comes in. GK, a Whales are Whales member, reached out to me and offered to host some segments in exchange for him to create and host an anime block for our program. The result of that partnership is now available for you to check out today. I'll let GK take it from here. Thanks Medium! It's been an absolute pleasure to host the anime block on Suteki Jam, and I came out hard this week for my first show. Aikatsu, an anime for girls aged 7 to 14, is the subject of this week's program and I couldn't be more excited. You should be excited too! Now, you may be thinking that children's anime has nothing for you, but be sure to give it a shot. You might just be surprised b

  • 1. Athenarium

    22/01/2017

Athenarium - Silence Records x NIZI-RINGO It was a while ago that Whales are Whales was contacted by Medium Well, owner and host of the underground Japanese music-focused radio show Suteki Jam. The show is only accessible via the dark web and he wanted to reach a wider audience. We agreed to air one of their many segments each week, and it was only proper to start us off with one of Medium's own segments. This week, Medium Well plays six selections from a collaboration between indie circles Silence Records and NIZI-RINGO. Much like the labels involved, the music is of a collaborative nature featuring an eclectic mix of EDM, glitch and traditional Japanese instruments. It's a celebration of old and new that proves music from all eras can live together in harmony. If you've liked what you've heard, you can purchase Athenarium over at Bandcamp. If you want to see more from these labels, be sure to give Silence Records and NIZI-R
