Christmas is often preached in December in the midst of the holidays, and because of this, I think we need to hear a message on Christmas away from the holiday we’ve become so familiar with. Instead of the fancy light-ups, gifts, good food, and a fuzzy warm feeling around friends and family, we need to see the atrocities, the pain, the ominous warnings, and the agenda that God conceived when He gave His Son, Jesus Christ. We’ve missed so much of God’s message to us because we’ve lost the true essence of the birth of Christ.

King David’s life was not all glorious and triumphant. In fact, there were moments where it was downright embarrassing. Times when he had to feign insanity, sport a dishevelled look, and became no better than a homeless vagabond. Yet, it was from this experience that Psalm 34 was penned – a psalm of victory and insight that offers us comfort, assurance, and a view of the long-term.

We read from Scriptures – first the natural, then the spiritual. What we're now seeing unfold is the potential of a European War breaking forth with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Jesus foretold of this time – that we will see wars fought and hear rumours of wars. This will lead to a spiralling of the world’s economies, open hostilities in many nations, the loss of many lives, soaring oil prices, out-of-control inflation, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. The downstream effects of war will be immense and it'll bring great hardship to the nations. The Church must arise in this hour because we march to the sound of a different drumbeat. God is raising His Gibborim, His Mighty Army. Can you hear the horns of Deborah sounding?

There’s a new and fresh outpouring in the horizon, and a beautiful fellowship that we can enjoy with the Holy Spirit. How can we build a deeper friendship with Him and not just have temporal encounters? More than how He manifests Himself, WHO is the Holy Spirit to you?

I’m fascinated by the power of God. The discovery of the splitting of the atom, the tiniest of particles, led to the release of immense power and this is just a little foretaste of the power of God. Jesus said the tiniest amount of faith can move the greatest mountain without even breaking a single drop of sweat. In every generation, God permits a select remnant to not only see but to also taste what’s reserved for those in the age to come. But in these last days, many are going to enter into the power of God and we’ll see the powers of hell in total disarray. This is our time!

As Christians, we see the importance of both faith and faithfulness, but have probably not delved into the difference between both and how they work together in our lives. Faithfulness is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, while faith appears as one of the gifts of the Holy Spirt. Both are intricately-linked to each other, and it’s easy to focus on one while neglecting the other. Finding the right balance to both is crucial.

We live in a word-created, word-upheld, word-sustained and word-dominated environment. Job 22 tells us, "You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you." The writer to the Hebrews tells us that Jesus 'holds all things by the WORD of His power'. Paul says in Colossians, 'In Him, all things are held together'. How? By the Spoken Word. This is the power of a decree from a pure heart. Not only will a decree establish a thing that wasn’t there before, it will also reverse what you or someone else have been experiencing. Learn the power of a DECREE.

Paul said that the message of the Cross is foolishness to those who are perishing. This is a strong statement. In fact, the word here is more appropriately translated as ‘madness’ or ‘insanity’. That is what the Cross is as a means through which God would bring salvation to all mankind. We must not seek to embellish the message of the Cross to make it more palatable or presentable, or we might inadvertently rob it of its power.

This weekend, I’d like to take the opportunity to honour a few men who have made a significant impact in my life. I’m sharing this with you in order that you may understand our heritage and inheritance because this is not just about me, it’s about us. The people God has connected me with is for your sake. One of the greatest privileges in my life is to be surrounded with many prophets and godly mentors who have all poured oil into my horn. I’m really who I am because of the people God has surrounded me with.

The law of the Nazarite in the Old Testament is a strange law. On the one hand, the Nazarite vow was esteemed as an admirable consecration, such that a Nazarite is equated to a prophet. However, the conclusion of a Nazarite vow required a sin offering to be presented. Beneath this internal contradiction lies a conundrum that those who seek after the Lord will all face. This is the dilemma of a saint and a sage.

One of the biggest mistakes that we make in life is to judge by what we see. We judge people by how we perceive or what we hear about them. We judge a people’s group often by what we read. We judge by appearance; we judge by their speech. But we’re told in Scriptures that Jesus, when He was on this earth, did not judge by the seeing of the eyes, or by the hearing of the ear. Instead, He judged by righteous judgement. I want to start the year with you all by making a commitment to stop condemning and criticising others.

There’s a strange disease that afflicts those who have or are enjoying a measure of success in their lives. It happened to a rich man in Luke 12; it happened to another wealthy man in the days of David who treated David’s servants with disdain. It happened to a king called Uzziah, wo was filled with pride and fell into grievous sin. It also happened to a godly king, Hezekiah, who at the prime of his life, was in danger of being cast aside because of his pride. How do we deal with this issue of pride in our lives? How do we ensure longevity of ministry in Cornerstone?

In the concluding part of this series on the Torah, we examine some overarching themes that help us frame the way in which we view our world. This is important because how we view the world around us also determines the way we engage with it.

613 – that’s the number of Commandments listed in The Torah. From the famous 10 Commandments, to the ones that we might not have even heard of, like shaving the sides of your hair! It must surely be a mistake to think that they have any relevance at all for today? The key lies in understanding the nature of these laws. Just like the Kingdom of God, everything begins in seed form.

The first 5 books of the Bible are called the Torah collectively, and their authorship is attributed to Moses. We may have read them individually, but few of us have examined them collectively as a blueprint of God’s salvation plan for mankind, as well as His design for bringing transformation to our world. Over the next 3 weeks, we’ll be examining the Torah more closely. Our intention is to give us a fresh pair of lenses in how we read the Torah, and also to draw applications that are incredibly relevant for our times.

In Zechariah 9, the Lord refers to His people as ‘Prisoners of Hope’, not prisoners of hopelessness. There’s nothing the world is aching for more right now than hope. And it’s true those with the greatest hope are also the most positive people on the planet. Both hope and hopelessness are equally contagious and we cannot allow ourselves to fall into hopelessness. Biblical hope is one of the greatest things in the world and we’re called to manifest it.

Some sources say that a mere 52 days of Jesus’ life was recorded for us in the Gospels. Others say that the Gospel of John recorded only 20 days of the life of Christ. Whatever it might be, what‘s presented to us is a mere vignette of His life. But the Bible is not random in what it documents for our reading. Instead, it’s a divine emphasis of what God desires to communicate to us. It’s a picture of what counts for eternity.

On 30 Oct 2021, humanity passed a threshold when we officially recorded 5 million deaths from the coronavirus, not counting the devastation it has brought to untold numbers around the world. People are desperate, governments are running out of ideas, and nobody can guess when this will all end. If there are two things people need right now, it’s HOPE and PEACE. Over the next two weekends, I’ll be addressing these vital issues. It’d be wise to heed what Corrie Ten Boom said, “If you look at the world, you’ll be depressed. If you look within, you’ll be depressed. But if you look at God, you’ll be at rest.”

There are major sins like adultery, murder, theft and covetousness. But did you know that complaining is a recurring problem mentioned in the Bible that afflicts God’s people? There are many ways to examine the Book of Numbers; one of which is to realise that there are 7 episodes of complaining found in this book alone. These episodes left a devastating impact on the whole nation and gives us a clear message about complaining.
