One Last Chance "Character: The Caretaker Have you ever had a caretaker? Someone who watched over you or gave you another chance when you've failed? In the story that Jesus tells of the fig tree and the caretaker, we see someone standing in the gap for someone pleading for a second chance for them. " Luke 13:1–9 2Corinthians 1:3-10

Character: Jerusalem Jeremiah prophesies against Jerusalem and they threaten death to him. The character for our consideration today is the city of Jerusalem. Does it remain spiritually inoculated against judgment because it is favored by God or does it fall under the Law of God? What are the impervious religious tokens for us?

"Transfiguration Sunday-- Seeing Jesus as he is!" Why settle for a cheap, knock-off Jesus, one of our own making, when we have been called by the Holy Spirit to trust th Biblical revelation of who this man (and God) from Nazareth is and what he did. The Jesus in revealed in the Bible invites us to never ending wonder, praise, faith, and trust. Luke 9:28-36

Jesus is not just a good teacher Christians trust the revelation of Scripture in regards to the identity of Jesus. Our reasoning powers do not define what is ultimately true and false. But God defines reality through his Word and faith trusts this Word. We believe that Jesus, as impossible for us to truly understand, is both human and God. The Real Jesus offered more than wisdom. He secured salvation. "Gen 3:1-10 Ex 25:8,21-22 and 40:34-38 John 1:1-16 Luke 4:16-30"

Christians are not "pluralists," believing that all paths lead to the same god. The Real Christ is the singular, Annointed One who, by his passion saved the world "Jn 1:14, Rom 5:19, Gal 4:4-5,Is 53:6, 2 Cor 5:21, rom 6:9, 1 Cor 15:3-7 Luke 3:15-22"

Jesus is not your Mascot Christians are not "ethical hedonists," doing whatever pleases us, following a false Christ who encourages us in our pursuit of our own pleasures. The Real Christ judged sin and calls his people towards holiness "Phil 3:12-20 Rom 6:1-11 Matthew 2:1-12"

Time Management Is Priority Management Jesus was busy but never hurried. He knew what his purpose was which guided his focus which informed his time management. Having your priorities correct will create margin through when you are more available for God to work through you. Matthew 16:16-23

Back in Shape C. S. Lewis said, “Christianity is almost the only one of the great religions which thoroughly approves of the body—which believes that matter is good, that God himself once took on a human body, that some kind of body is going to be given to us even in Heaven and is going to be an essential part of our happiness, our beauty, and our energy”

Emotional Power Of the four margins—emotional energy, physical energy, time, and finances—margin in emotional energy is paramount. When we are emotionally resilient, we can confront our problems with a sense of hope and power all fueled by the power of the Holy Spirit. When our psychic reserves are depleted, however, we are seriously weakened. Today we begin the series with a does of emotional power that even Jesus exhibited in his last moments on earth. Acts2:42-47

A SYNCHED UP CHRISTMAS You've probably seen the Christmas light displays on homes in your neighborhood or on Youtube. Thousands of lights dancing with precision at the rhythms and melodies of favorite Christmas songs. After careful planning and arrangement, the lights are synched up with the music. In a sense, Christmas is like that light display in that while the world was not connected with God, Jesus broke into history and brought us back into sync with him. This Christmas, enjoy celebrating the Baby Jesus whose life, death and life re-connected us with the Lord.

One of the reasons Mary is so revered is her ability to handle so many surprises within a 12-month time-frame. Engagement to Joseph, visitation by an angel, pregnant with the child of God, and now Elizabeth’s proclamation of the great blessing from God to Mary. God has surprises for us in Jesus, just around the corner. Micah 5:2-5a Heb 10:5-10 Luke 1:39-45

Clear The Road A few weeks ago, the Vice President rolled into Hudson. If you were on the roads, you saw the local police setting up barricades and clearing the road to make sure our governmental leader had a straight path to where he was going. On a much grander scale, John the Baptist calls us to clear the pathway during advent to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus who is just around the corner. " Mal. 3:1-7b Phil 1:2-11 Luke 3:1-6"
