  • The Great Commission

    13/05/2012 Duration: 33min

Jesus' final words to his followers: "Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations..." We call it the Great Commission.Brian McLaren says, "“Good evangelists... are people who engage others in good conversation about important and profound topics such as faith, values, hope, meaning, purpose, goodness, beauty, truth, life after death, life before death, and God. They do this, not because they like to be experts and impose their views on others, but because they feel they are, in fact, sent by God to do so. They live with a sense of mission that their God-given calling in life is not just to live selfishly, or even just to live well, but to live unselfishly and well and to help others live unselfishly and well, too. Evangelists are people with a mission from God and a passion to love."You've been sent. So go. Be a disciple. Share. Listen. Love. Serve.

Today, on this 42nd annual Earth Day, we celebrate the beauty of God’s Creation and think about ways we can practice more faithful stewardship of the resources of earth, water, and air.

  • Ready for a Change: Letting Go

    25/03/2012 Duration: 24min

Jesus said, "Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat. But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over. In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you'll have it forever, real and eternal." So often we hold onto life just as it is. Maybe, though, real life -- real change -- requires us to let go of some things so that we can embrace the new life God has for us.

  • Love Wins

    12/02/2012 Duration: 26min

What would the world be like if we all pursued love instead of success? Frank Deford's story of Elena Delle Donne, which aired on NPR's Morning Edition begins this week's message. It seems many times that love is not winning. There is so much wrong with the world. We all long for it to change. Maybe Love can change the world. Maybe Love can end all the hatred. Maybe God will bring a new day, a new world.

If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand.
