Episodes

  • 221: Dumb Alcatraz Site

    01/07/2019

We get right into the beer brags, where Michael uncharacteristically has a hazy IPA and Jeremy characteristically has a double IPA. We then shift to the Iowa Roadtrip Series, stopping by some Cedar Rapids roadside attractions, shouting out the freakish Bart Simpson tree before we depart. In town, we see the Weenie Plane, Crashing Seagulls, and the Seedling Mile. But it is not just with our eyes that we experience Cedar Rapids, as we also can smell it. Five times. We become the weather podcast, then finally get into the FDR (with a few more sidetracks on Paul Hindenburg and the Dandy Warhols).Beer in this episode: Iowa Brewing Company Bohemian RapidsCheers!

  • 220: Horrorshow Showdown

    24/06/2019

And we're back. Michael brags on a locally made quad, exquisitely named Midwestvleteren. J-Hook brags on a bevy of Surly brews including a barrel-hopped, barrel-conditioned, dry-hopped, Mexican-style lager and a spicy Helles yes. Michael picks Jeremy's brain on the top horror movie icon in a fluidly moderated tournament where Jason, Freddie, Pinhead, Chucky, Michael Myers, Jigsaw, Texas Chainsaw Guy, and It all compete for the title. Finally, we get into the FDR, featuring the return of Environmentale. TANG. Will this refreshing summer brew stand up to the test?Beer in this episode: Lionbridge TagCheers!

  • 219: Zeroth Annual Awards

    17/06/2019

In a rare occurrence, Michael brags the exact beer that Jeremy was extolling last week, the Confluence Brut IPA. Michael agrees with Jeremy. Meanwhile Jeremy has a confusingly branded UFO Georgia Peach Hefeweizen. Michael drop a bomb by revealing the 0th Annual Lawnmower Man Awards will happen right now. Who will be this, I mean, last year's winner? We then segue to the FDR, introducing our new summer series The Iowa Roadtrip (aka RAGCRY). We talk Solon, Iowa (where the brew hails from), RAGBRAI, the beer itself. It's anything, but a good anything.Beer in this episode: Big Grove TailwindCheers!

  • 218: Pineapple Facts

    10/06/2019

Join us as we find out why Trent Reznor is happy. Jeremy brags about a Reunion Hefe and a Firestone hazy. Michael opens the American Pale Mail Pail to talk eye openers and a new brew idea (remember Belgian IPAs?) Since jabroni summer is in full swing, we bring up lawnmower beers yet again, floating the idea of an annual award. Jeremy blames Michael for the poor FDR selection, but we are shocked when we taste it. Throw in a few pineapple facts, 4 Loko H, and a nun for good measure and you have a perfectly Mikesable episode.Beer in this episode: Steel Reserve Hard PineappleCheers!

  • 217: Unofficial Tornado Drink

    03/06/2019

We open up with some tornado talk, recalling our post-tornado walkabout from days of yore. Jeremy also remembers an unofficial tornado drink, before bragging about finally getting his hands on a Brut IPA that can stand toe to toe with the Brut IPA legend. After an interruption from some non-RVD rolling thunder, we get into the FDR and the primary hop within, but are immediately sidetracked by Velvet Revolver. Jeremy comes up with a new invention for the Shark Tank before we give our Pick of the Pack Lock of the Week for this sample pack from Stone.Beer in this episode: Hop Revolver IPA (Nelson Sauvin)Cheers!

  • 216: Suggestible Imp

    27/05/2019

No taglines allowed. Michael gives a brag upon a lager, but Jeremy brings the cake (?), recalling his experience at Dark Lord Day. He casually mentions a few sweet brews he had and reveals the varient he nabbed. We then move into the final installment of Watch the Thrones, a segment Michael forgot all about. Bidding an old friend farewell, we move onto the FDR, where we have the third brew in our 2nd Spring Sampler Series. We nod to the jabronis, talk about Dyer, then recall party Thursdays of yore... all while enjoying a brew. Something about a ghost.Beer in this episode: Stone Ghost Hammer IPACheers!

  • 215: Bored Ox Region

    20/05/2019

Now entering Old Man Corner, it's the APM Podcast. Jeremy goes over the Dark Lord Variants, one of which he will have by the time this airs. Leaving the ghost of future beer brags behind, we move on to the past. Michael brags about a 5-star brew he had along with the 5-star glass it was served in. Jeremy discusses a IBC barrel aged beer made with Vietnamese coffee. Since we are finally on a more contemporary schedule, we talk Avengers Endgame. Then we get into the FDR, where we decide if this is delicious.Beer in this episode: Stone Delicious IPACheers!

  • 214: Sample Harder

    13/05/2019

After a hiatus that you may have not even known about, we are back. Jeremy, the apt pupil, gets sidetracked into talking about Stephen King. Then we smash cut to beer brags, where Michael discusses the Korean beer industry. Jeremy ponders other international scenes with Michael, before bringing it back stateside with a brag from Reunion, right in his own back yard. Jeremy podcast pitches Disgraceland. Finally, it is time for the FDR, where we introduce the sequel to the Spring Sampler Series, Sample Harder.Beer in this episode: Stone Tangerine Express IPACheers!

  • 213: The Goose Swan Song

    06/05/2019

If they catch us, we all going to die! Imagine that, but cheerful. That is what Jeremy brings to the table. Michael notes his Trap 8 experiment is taking off. Jeremy hears the Goose Song of Honker's Ale. Then we take an attempt at a quiz about beer. Yes, beer. Finally, it is time for the FDR and the last brew in this round of the Spring Sampler Series. We also discuss the L.O.P. and the pack as a whole.Beer in this episode: Left Hand Juicy GoodnessCheers!

  • 212: Dandy Horse

    29/04/2019

Michael has a maibock. Jeremy takes a ride on the long tail and has a Budweiser Copper Lager. Mix Master Mike messages in with a question about mixing, prompting a discussion on half-Guinness pours. All aboard the dandy horse for a quiz on transportation (most of which winds up on the cutting room floor). Finally, the FDR, where we have the third brew in our Spring Sampler Series.Beer in this episode: Left Hand Travelin' LightCheers!

  • 211: Poison IPA

    22/04/2019

You are now entering the Twilight Zone (great pinball machine btw). Hairemy had a Sierra Nevada Brut IPA but like time and time again it cannot match his previous Brut IPA experience. ("Time and time" is a running theme in this podcast.) This conjures memor(y)ies of Bud Dry and a fact finding mission. Michael has Leffe Blonde, Paulaner Oktoberfest, and Pilsner Urquell. We continue the random internet quiz series with a Peep quiz that grosses Jeremy out. We continue our Spring Sampler Series with another from Left Hand, exploring Azacca hops and wild tangents.Beer in this episode: Left Hand IPACheers!

  • 210: White Label Beer

    16/04/2019

Back from the Anniversary Ep, we get back into our routine format. Michael "brags" about having the Budweiser Copper Lager, prompting Jeremy's memories of boilermakers. Jeremy has a salty marathon beer, for which we ponder about the marketing. Next, born to hand quiz baby, as we take a stab at a rando internet quiz. Next we introduce a new feature for the next few episodes, the Spring Sampler Series, where we try brews from a sampler pack from one brewery.Beer in this episode: Left Hand Colorful ColoradoCheers!

  • 209: LeBron Orson LeBron Ogden

    08/04/2019

Jeremy awakens from a dream, tells us about it, then brags about... good green beer? Cobra Verde strikes back. Michael had something called DAF that was DAF. Jeremy rescinds his previous statements on Hazy IPAs. Michael runs down some 4th Anniversary Stats which leads into more stats from the Brewer's Association. No trivia this week, but what is that noise? For the FDR, we conclude a "high-cost" multi-year experiment, though what price can you put on science? A last minutes brews news finishes off the show.Beer in this episode: Trappistes Rochefort 8Cheers!

  • 208: Lime Time

    01/04/2019

It's back! (The Cryptkeeper). We cruise through some children's trivia questions then getting into some adult questions. "Adult" in the strictest sense of the term. Diving through the questions causes Jeremy to remember Buckfast. Then we get into the FDR, where we invoke pagan rituals to bring on summer.Beer in this episode: Uinta Lime PilsnerCheers!

  • 207: APMPod and the Dweebs

    25/03/2019

After a botched new intro attempt, we talk about Rude Dog for a bit. We then try our hand at a Baby Boomer Trivial Pursuit card, not faring so well. Don't guess Slim Pickens, Bud Melman, Donnie Osmond, or Elvira for any of the answers. We get into the FDR, taking a time out to mention the racism allegations against Founders before getting into the beer itself. We rate only after talking about the status of Casper and the actor who portrayed IRL him.Beer in this episode: Founders TrigoCheers!

  • 206: Crapple

    18/03/2019

Jeremy makes some prospective Final Four predictions and then some retroactive prospective Oscar predictions. Hear Jeremy slam the Best Picture winner before it won. We go  for some "good vengeance" on trivia, fairing better than we have in the past. Finally, we continue the Springtime Widow Watch Series with another witbier.Beer in this episode: Good City LeoCheers!

  • 205: Yeast Tooth

    11/03/2019

Michael brings back beer brags because he had two notable barrel-aged brews from Wisconsin Brewing Company. Jeremy is sick of hazy IPAs, but will brut IPAs make up for that? We try our hand at pop culture trivia to break our slump, with poor results. Can you fair better? Then we attempt to force the seasons to change by having something a little more springy. Gajib, we coming for you!Beer in this episode: Dogfish Head Namaste WhiteCheers!

  • 204: Spiked Water: Filtered Malt Liquor

    05/03/2019

We open up by discussing hard seltzer waters/hard still water, speculating on how they are made. This leads into discussing Bacardi Silver and wine coolers. Ah, good old malternatives. We move onto trivia where our performance is only marginally better than last week, but at least we learned more about turn of the 20th century injustices. Finally, for the FDR, the beer takes a sour turn.Beer in this episode: Exile Bohemian PomegranateCheers!

  • 203: 0%

    26/02/2019

A surprise intro launches a discussion on old television shows which inadvertently bridges into an X-rated movie from the 70s. After quickly veering the car off that road, we get into trivia. We do not do well. How are we supposed to know about movies where actors died but really didn't die or who the Seven Mules are. Then we get into the FDR, but first, side note: Flanders.Beer in this episode: KwaremontCheers!

  • 202: Fix It All the Time

    19/02/2019

After ranking luncheon meats, we get into the trivia. And it is a twofer Tuesday today as we go through two cards in the Trivial Persuit Family Edition series. We dunk on both. In the FDR, we encounter a strange creature that impresses and gives us ponder.Beer in this episode: Iowa Brewing Company The Red ThingCheers!
