  • CGP Ep354 Refining Your Athletisism

    26/08/2020 Duration: 50min

Slow it down, speed it up, change direction, add complexity, add resistance, over speed, increase neural load and then do it again! If you want to refine athleticism you need to challenge yourself in as many ways as possible. Do it in the gym and see the results on the field of battle. I always say that you get the best learning or adaptation when you are on the brink of failure. Not muscle failure but athletic failure. Ask yourself to be as athletic as possible and be on the brink of wiping out, missing the shot or falling flat on your face. The challenge will make you adapt into a better, more refined athlete. Ever notice how the greatest athletes in the world move so efficiently and makes the impossible seem easy? They have refined their movements so they can easily adapt to any situation they face in their sport. I always say that training for the sport should make the playing of the sport feel like a day off. You don’t need to go heavier or longer. You need to go more complex and smarter! Huge thanks to

I was on the brink of letting my gym go. I felt I had evolved and the time for me to hang up my “Gym Owner” hat was up. I did some deep soul searching to see what the right decision would be. Do I have to have a gym to be a Coach? 99% of my clients are Profesional athletes who are scattered around the world. I train them in their gym in their city on their dime. Rarely do I ever train them in my gym. Do I keep it open for my junior athletes or do I pass the baton to my staff? What happened next may surprise you…. • CGP Ep347 Being Heard in the Herd!

    08/07/2020 Duration: 46min

At the end of the day we all just want to be heard. Through our voice, work or actions. We want to be heard. But what if the Herd is creating too much noise and your message isn’t getting to your audience? Im not talking about social media (although it still applies) I am talking about being heard by the ones you are trying to inspire, motivate, help or serve. The problem is that even if you were truly heard you have nothing to say! You have a ton to say but maybe you haven’t found your true voice. You haven’t learned how to connect with your community or have neglected to create a community in the first place. • CGP Ep346 Past Present Future Self Improvement

    01/07/2020 Duration: 50min

"Live in the present. The Power of Now.” We all know we need to live in the NOW but many of you or your clients are allowing the past to dictate the actions of the future self. I have worked with countless athletes who under perform due to past failures they carry with them to every event, practice or training session. The past becomes a self doubt barrier that keeps them from having true belief in themselves. "Why should this playoff be any different than the others. I lost last time and I'll probably lose again.” “I cheated on every diet I have ever been on so why even bother trying? Pass the potato salad!” Their lack of knowledge, resources or guidance reduces their ability to turn their hard work into actual progress. Or they are living in the clouds with their hopes a successful future taking up space in their conscious mind that should be reserved for the work that needs to be performed today in the present. Who you want to be in the future is built on the the foundation of the person you are today. Whe

  • CGP Ep345 The Starting Point

    24/06/2020 Duration: 52min

Fat Face Rick, “He Ain’t Weak, Thats The Starting Point!” That line in the Wire changed the way I approached coaching from that day forward. It all made sense when my young student Cliff sat up and looked me right in the eye and said, “It’s this gym Coach! It’s changed my life! I have taken the lessons I learnt with you here into all aspects of my life! At school, if the teacher wants us to read one chapter I do two, do 20 math equations I do 30. When my Mom wants me to do the dishwasher I finish it up, scrub the pots and sweep the floor after. Everything I do, I do more. Its becoming a way of life and Im seeing the results.” I know you are probably thinking this sounds like a Hallmark Sunday Movie but its true. That is why it has had such a big impact on me. I realize that we are all in one way or another at the starting point. Any challenge you take on puts you right back at the start. Knowing the outcome will be what you expect it to be along with some surprises along the way is motivating to say the least

  • CGP Ep344 MASS X ACCELERATION = Distance?

    17/06/2020 Duration: 54min

Thank you to all of you who have filled my inbox with “#YOJAY Have you seen @brysondechambeau ? Wow! He put on 40lbs and 20yards on his driver! What do you think?” Yes I have seen him. Yes I have been following and yes I have an opinion. The important thing for you to know is the science behind training for size and speed and whether it is right for you! In this week’s episode we do exactly that. We go DEEP into the science of hypertrophy training vs pure strength training and how it can affect performance both positively and negatively. We also discuss the limitations that you may bump into when training for size and its relationship to your joint ROM and mobility. Will Bryson’s transformation lead him to victory? I can assure you of this… If he wins a major or becomes world number one… it won’t be solely based on the size of his biceps. Mark your calendars! The 2020 Coach Glass Mentorship is starting Sept 11th. This year it is all online and setting up to be the best one yet. More info? We have the 2020 App

  • CGP Ep343 Go To WORK!

    10/06/2020 Duration: 01h00s

The great philosopher Kool Moe D once said,”I go to work like a doctahhh!” In these times of uncertainty and change the one thing that has kept me sane is work. I know that sounds counter intuitive to many people who are out of work, working from home, changing professions or working under new conditions that won’t allow you to work like you use to. I have found that work gives you purpose. Before you role your eyes at me let me define what it means to work. Work means putting time and energy toward a predetermined purpose. (Don’t look that up as a definition because I just made it up to help me make my point) Your work could be finding more work! Your work may be working on your home. I have found incredible sense of purpose and accomplishment over the past months by painting our bedroom, tearing down our fence and planting a hedge, building a retaining wall and renovating a bathroom. I love seeing the finished product! My day job on the other hand involves me training pro athletes who cant compete in their

  • CGP 342 The Rebirth

    03/06/2020 Duration: 51min

The World is in chaos, America is burning, businesses are closing. Its time to rebuild. Time to reinvent yourself and the way you go about your business. I am in the midst of a rebirth of my business. My local gym is being reborn. I am excited to inject my creativity into a new project and cant wait to help it grow into something I can be proud of. Its going to take a lot of work but Ive never been afraid of that. Its time we all look in the mirror and ask ourselves, “Am I going to be part of the new norm? Am I capable of change? Am I part of the solution? Am I doing my part to make this a better world?” I encourage all my students, mentorees and Glisteners to leave the world in a better state than you found it. If everyone took that approach the world would be a better place. You have to go through some pain to create change. Whether that change is positive or negative is up to you! Mark your calendars! The 2020 Coach Glass Mentorship is starting Sept 11th. This year it is all online and setting up to be the

  • CGP Ep341 Zoom Calls? Enough Already!

    27/05/2020 Duration: 49min

I am done with Zoom calls and poorly made Instagram content. Its time for everyone to step it up and get your shit together! I know you aren’t going to take the time to watch a “How To Zoom” video made by someone who is more boring than reading the Zoom manual. So I created this episode on how to Zoom like a BOSS and create online content like Instagram Live that will grow your brand instead of sink your brand. No more, "Can you hear me. I can see you but cant hear you.” We fix the “So we will meet at 9? AM or PM? Are you on Central or Mountain time?” We go DEEP into lighting, audio and video hacks that you can do on a budget. That way you don’t need to use a cheesy generic backdrop. What are you a 5th grader? Get Profesional and take care of the little things that are driving your audience insane. We chat about what its like to work from home with the kids thinking you are a full time chef slash Uber driver. The “new norm” is driving me crazy! Better get use to it! Mark your calendars! The 2020 Coach Glass M

  • CGP Ep340 #YOJAY Your Questions Answered

    20/05/2020 Duration: 56min

Thank you to everyone who sent in #YOJAYs over the past 2 months. I saw a theme building in everyone's personal stories and questions and felt it was time to put it on wax! I always say that if the same questions keep coming up there are probably 1000’s of others wondering the same thing! In this episode I flush out the topic of how we all need to navigate the “New Norm” and give specific advice to each Glisten’s situation. Topics covered in this #YOJAY: How do you navigate all the free content on social media? How do you decide who to follow and who to remove from your thread? Advice for a young coach entering the fitness industry during this transitional time? How do you compete against the saturated online fitness market? How can I improve my online training platform. What does the Coach do to keep himself sane during social distancing? How do you become a Closer in times like this? How does the Coach plan on being a Closer in 2020? Is there going to be a Mentorship this year? All these questions and so mu
