Manipuri community in Australia 'over the moon' as Indian film Boong bags BAFTA award

Former Prince Andrew becomes first senior royal in almost four centuries to be arrested
23/02/2026 Duration: 07minOn 19 February 2026, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor became the first senior British royal in nearly 400 years to be arrested, the last being Charles I in 1647. The 66-year-old was taken into custody on suspicion of misconduct in public office, following allegations that he shared confidential government documents with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The arrest comes after the release of over 3 million files linked to a US investigation into Epstein.

‘Often indirect but always harmful’: International students seek stronger campus action on racism
20/02/2026 Duration: 14minAustralia’s first national report on racism in universities has found the problem to be widespread and systemic. It revealed that 70 per cent of students and staff surveyed across 42 universities had witnessed racism, with higher rates reported among Indigenous, Chinese, African, Jewish and Middle Eastern communities. Despite this, only six per cent of those who experienced racism lodged a formal complaint. SBS Hindi spoke to Indian international students to understand their perspective.

19/02/2026 Duration: 09minBipin Kashyap, a resident of Assam, has loved wildlife, especially elephants, since childhood. His passion grew stronger at 16 when he rescued an elephant. Since then, he has devoted his life to protecting and saving them, considering them part of his family. He can even recognise many older elephants. During the rainy season, when elephants fall into streams, Bipin quickly rushes to rescue them with the help of his companions. He also works with the forest department to treat and support injured elephants. - असम के बिपिन कश्यप को बचपन से ही वन्यजीवों, विशेषकर हाथियों से गहरा प्रेम रहा है। 16 साल की उम्र में जब उन्होंने एक हाथी की जान बचाई, तो वह पल उनके जीवन का यादगार और निर्णायक अनुभव बन गया। तभी से उन्होंने हाथियों को अपने परिवार का हिस्सा मानते हुए उनकी सुरक्षा और देखभाल के लिए खुद को समर्पित कर दिया।

Iftar invite extended to Senator Hanson amid her refusal to fully apologise for ‘no good Muslims’ remark
19/02/2026 Duration: 07minIn an interview on Sky News on Monday, 16 February, One Nation leader Pauline Hanson said there were, in her words "no good Muslims," and suggested future generations would suffer if more followers of the religion were allowed into Australia. Senator Hanson has now partially walked back on the comments, but has refused to offer a full apology. While, the backlash against her comments continues from all sides of politics, Australia's Islamophobia envoy has invited Senator Hanson to an Iftar dinner during the holy month of Ramadan, where he encourages her to ask questions directly.
