Healing Times Radio with Dr. Miller
02/01/2015 Duration: 01h00sMidwifery is literally “as old as the hills”. With the movement towards delivering babies hospitals that occurred in the last century, midwives became rare. There has been a recent upsurge in the use of midwives, and not only because hospitals are becoming repositories of infection with “flesh eating bacteria” that are immune to antibiotic treatment (e.g., MRSA – Methicillin-Resistant Staph Aureus). Many couples are coming to the conclusion that having their baby at home, in familiar surroundings, with loved ones nearby, is a much more natural and wholesome procedure. In nearly every human culture and society in the world, up until rather recently, it was women who were responsible for helping women give birth. Only in our culture, only in the last century or two, did we decide that childbirth should take place in the hospital where every other kind of physical trauma is treated. Between the time my first son was born and now there has been an enormous movement away from having hospital births supervised by a

Gaea Star Crystal Show with Mariam Massaro
02/01/2015 Duration: 52min"Today on Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #142 we welcome the return of Dameron Midgett, joining Mariam and Bob with his mandolin and didjeridoo. Congas player Craig Harris of the Gaea Star Band also brings his groove to the first half of the show. We begin with a concise and delicate reading of Mariam’s “Sail On” from the Vision Quest album which features a sensitive piano solo from Bob Sherwood and a lovely vocal from Mariam. “Praise”, a Native American-flavored improvised song follows, featuring an anthemic refrain and Australian native tones from Dameron’s didjeridoo. Taking us to the break is a new song from Mariam called “Safe Harbor”, a wandering minor ballad filled with images of the sea and the shore. After the break Mariam picks up the ukelele for a pretty, peaceful new folk number about early winter called “First Snow” that weaves through several delicate light and dark variations before we sign off with native flute and drums on a funked-up, mandolin-driven “One More Day”."

Gaea Star Crystal Show with Mariam Massaro
02/01/2015 Duration: 53min"The Gaea Star Crystal Hour # 141 begins with the dusky, mystical “How To Be Free” with Mariam Massaro on vocals and tenor ukelele, Tom Fair on Nashville acoustic guitar and Bob Sherwood on piano. We drift into Mariam’s “La Luna”, an improvisation-heavy evening ballad and then into “Powerful Weather”, a late-autumn tone poem. Next up is “All That I Am” an inspirational prayer to remaining open. After the break we present the reprise “All That I Am” as a more driving, otherworldly blues. Tom Fair brings his “Ananda Gi” floating in on modal 12-string and Nag Champa, with gossamer eastern harmonies and shimmering dulcimer from Mariam and shifting, Chinese and Hindustani scales on the piano from Bob. We segue slowly through a lovely, White Album-esque fragment from Tom to a musical station I.D. from Mariam, coming to rest on one of Mariam’s most beautiful and affecting musical mantras, “Happy I Am”, an entrancing puzzle of a song that presents a simple melody above an asymmetrical measure scheme to bewitchin

Gaea Star Crystal Show with Mariam Massaro
02/01/2015 Duration: 55min"The Gaea Star Crystal Hour #140 begins with the mystical, querying “Ready” with Mariam choosing an unusual pivoting key structure for her melody as she and Tom Fair lay a carpet of acoustic 12-strings and Bob Sherwood develops an intense, polyrhythmic percussion groove. We search out the intense center of the piece and find it in a double-time shift before stripping away all but the heartbeat. Next up is Mariam’s “Always The Same Inside”, an island-inflected ukelele-driven folk rock number. The floating, somber “Oh, May I Fly” follows, built around Mariam’s dueling flutes, Bob’s piano and electronics and Tom’s trancing 12-string. Overdubbed “Cloud” guitar adds a touch of uneasy sky to the climax of the piece, a tension that is broken by a backbeat from Bob and Mariam’s harmonies. After the break we present Mariam’s “Feels Good To Know You” a reverie driven by piano and guitar electronics. A series of shifting keys and major/minor ambiguities resolve to a majestic downward motif that frames an unfoldi
