Synopsis

The Arts Report on CiTR brings you the latest and upcoming in local arts in Vancouver from a volunteer run team that likes to get weird! Based primarily in Vancouver, BC, your show hosts (Ashley and Jake) are on the airwaves on CiTR Radio 101.9FM, Wednesdays from 5-6pm. The Arts Report also uploads special broadcasts in the form of web podcasts on their Mixcloud (https://www.mixcloud.com/ArtsReport_CiTR/) and blog (http://www.citr.ca/radio/arts-report/). In closing, we run through an array of shoutouts, including Firehall's The Good Bride, Level 16 at the Vancity Theatre, Vancouver International Women in Film Festival, St. James Swuare's Classic Rock Concert, and Pacific Theatre's Jesus Freak.

Afterwards, we discuss Jacob Boehme's Blood on the Dance Floor, the Cinematheque's Derek Jarman Feature and the Arts Club's True Crime. We close with a review of MOA's Sound House, including a song from one of the performing groups, local Afro-Cuban jazz outfit Kutapira.

Moving on to reviews, correspondents Leah Siegel and Will Alvarez tell us about the Arts Club's The Matchmaker and Vancity's showing of Rafiki. We touch briefly on the Rickshaw's Comedy Shocker, the coming concert from the Toasters, and Vancouver Opera's production of LA Boheme.

    We start the show off with our Jawbone segment with Jake Clark as he interviews Derek Hayes as they talk about railroads with Hayes' book, "Iron Road West", and reviews the play, "Pieces of Eight". We then continue the review train with one concerning the dance performance, "Chotto Desh" and the art exhibit "Indigenous Law" at the Uvic’s Legacy Art Gallery in downtown Victoria. We then end our show with a shout out to the fun Christmas event here, the Christmas Market at downtown Vancouver!

    We start the show off with an interview that will get you chewing as we talk to Hannah Jickling about her and her partner's, Helen Reed, gum artwork, "QA Chew's Bubble Trouble". After a little music, we go into our Jawbone segment with Jake Clark where he interviews Patrick Rizzotti about his work on the play "Hir". We talks more about "QA Chew's Bubble Trouble"'s gum and set up camps on which is the best piece of the gum! We end with shout-outs to Chotto Desh and Kit's Music Concert, as well as reviews for plays, "Much Ado About Nothing" and "Mortified".

    We start the show off with a review for "Aquarela do Brasil" with an in depth look into the culture and music culture of Brazil. A poem by Al Purdy starts the Jawbone Segment which then goes into a shout out to Rodney DeCroo and a review for "Much Ado About Nothing". We spend a good rest of the time talking about our continued love with "Much Ado About Nothing" along with a shout out to Dawn Pemberton, who is singing at the Labyrinth of St. Paul's Anglican Church, and bands we love, such as Dear Rouge, Modern Space, and The Escapes.

  • Christmas is Going to be Filled with Dance and Art

    We start the show off with an interview with opera singer Matthew Kim about his part in the opera, "Silent Night". We then go into the Jawbone segment with Jake Clark talking with Annahis Basmadjian, Liam Lazenby, and Colton Fyfe about the show, "Albireo". Our last segment is filled with shout out's to events, "Still Dreaming" at the Chan Center and "Good Tidings! A Good Noise Gospel Christmas" at the Christ Church Cathedral, and reviews on "Marking the Infinite" and "The Black Piece".

    We start the show off with our Jawbone segment, hosted by Jake Clark, interviewing Selina Crammond on the Podcast Festival coming to Vancouver. We, also, talk about some of our favorite spooky podcasts for viewers to check out. We then go in depth with organizer Carol E. Mayer about the new exhibition coming to the Museum of Anthropology, "Marking the Infinite: Contemporary Women Artists from Aboriginal Australia". Our end is, of course, about Halloween with talks about Pokemon costumes and a Masquerade Party to check out!

  • Borderline Between Theater and Animation

    We start the show off with an interview with Daelyn about her role as Beatrice in the play "Much Ado About Nothing" and our personal love for the play. We then dance into an interview with Jim Smith about the contemporary dance performance "Borderline." Spark Festival, an animation film festival, takes the stage with an interview of Marina Antunes, in our Jawbone segment, telling us all about it. We then end the show with excitement for the VR "Fake Ghost Tour" experience and Halloween love!

    We start the show off with Celina Martin talking about her role in the movie, Level 16 as Sophia. We then move into the Jawbone segment with Jake Clark as he interviews Michael Markoswky and his chance to go to the moon! Jawbone ends with some lightening reviews from VIFF ( Vancouver International Film Festival). We then end the show with even more hype for Halloween as we discuss events that we are thinking of going to and Halloween costumes.

We then go to our Jawbone segment with an interview with Rachel Park about her involvement in the play "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" and some Vancouver International Film Festival Reviews. We then talk about halloween traditions we do with some spooky shout-out's to Phantom Signal, VIFF gala award winner, and, not so spooky, Vancouver Bach Choir.
