Why does Paul have this confidence that God will finish His work in the Philippians? Because they are partners together.

Why does Paul have a great relationship with church at Philippi? Because they participate with him and he with them in the Gospel.

Paul is thankful for the Philippians and he prayers for them always. Paul has a great relationship with the Philippian church.

We see here that Paul is writing this letter with Timothy. We also see that the letter was written to the whole church. In Philippi

The message of the book of Philippians is joy. Paul writes this letter as a thank you letter to the church

An introduction into the book of Philippians. These introduction are important because they give you a background to use in your study of this book.

Paul uses three words in verse 23 that he uses throughout the letter. They are peace, love and faith. These words are Paul's desire for us and all who love Jesus.

Paul is being open with the church. He sends Tychicus to tell them about what is happening to him. He is sending Tychicus to comfort their hearts.

Paul is in prison as he write this. He still asks for prayer that he can speak with boldness. Believers need to be bold. Ask for prayer for boldness.

Paul is humble enough to ask for prayer. This is a need in the Body of Christ today. The need is to be bold in speaking the Gospel.

We need to be alert like hunters who watches everything around so that they know what is happening and can pray for each situation.

Prayer times. Paul tells us to pray at an appointed time, a kairos. During those times we pray with the Spirit help in tongues and in your native language.

Two types of prayer. One, communion with God and second bringing our petitions to God

The sword of the word of God. This sword is something that we take from God. It is a small sword meaning it is used in close hand to hand combat.

The helmet of salvation. Our salvation covers our minds. That is where the enemy tries to penetrate. Our helmet of salvation is impregnable.

The shield of faith. We hide behind and are protected by our faith. Not matter what the enemy fires at us we can win behind the shield of faith

The preparation of the gospel of peace. This weapon is our preparation. We are prepared to stand because we know the peace of God that comes from the Gospel

The armor of God. The breastplate of righteousness. It is God's righteousness that is applied to our lives.

Stand firm means to dig in. Paul describes the first piece of our armor as the girdle of truth. Truth is important because it holds pieces of our armor in place.

When take says to take up the full armor of God he is commanding us to take the armor into battle. This is a military term in the Greek language.
