What better goal could a child of God have than to get to know better the love of God towards them. So many of us set goals of doing better and trying harder to love God. We give it our all, but most of the time we fail and get more and more frustrated and angry with ourselves and sometimes even with God. How about we try something different this year? What if we set the goal of not trying to love God more, but of trying to get to know of His love towards us more! What if we've approached this wrongly? Instead of trying harder to love Him, let's try trusting harder that He loves us! As we turn towards Christmas time, we are looking at "WHY A BABY?" Why did Jesus have to come as a baby? God is God right? Couldn't God have just shown up as an adult man full of power and might? Why did he have to come as a baby?

Why did he have to come as a baby? Well, today we see first that it had to do with his lineage being not from Levi. The Levites were the ones that atoned for sins. Jesus came not as a Levite but from Judah. Jesus had no interest in atoning for sins. He came to take sin away!

How is salvation imparted? Which is greater: The death of Jesus or the resurrection of Jesus? Why does it matter?

We've spent 12 weeks walking through Genesis asking the question "What does living in dependency upon Jesus look like?" We know the verses like "walk by faith and not by sight," but how do we do that? What does that look like? Today in our special live stream, we will look back over the past 12 weeks and be reminded of how we depend upon Him and as we depend on Him, we walk by Him!

We continue our journey through Genesis and specifically Joseph today. Joseph is an amazing foreshadow of Jesus. He was beloved by his father. He was "killed" by his brothers. He rose to power in Egypt. He has food for the whole earth to eat when nothing in the earth can satisfy. Jesus!

Have you ever wondered why Scripture spends so much time mentioning genealogies? Perhaps these ancient records are no longer relevant to the modern day believer. Maybe these lists are merely worldly lineages and have no spiritual worth. Or... perhaps there is a greater mystery hidden in the genealogies found in the Bible. Take a journey with us as we look for the Gospel of Christ in the names of His lineage and discover the inheritance of the believer as a born again member of His family.

Do we find ourselves depending upon the Lord when times are difficult and rough, but not really when times are calm or inconsequential? Walking by faith is dependency upon Jesus regardless of the situation. Ask Joseph!

The "Prosperity Gospel" has gotten a bad reputation and rap in our day, as, quite frankly, it should for what it teaches. But isn't a big part of the good news (aka 'Gospel') that God has made us prosperous? You bet it is! The gospel is prosperity! But the real question is "prosperous in what?" Has God guaranteed money, cars, houses, land, etc for us to enjoy in this world? Or has God prospered us with something so much better, and eternal--Himself?

As we begin looking through the life of Joseph, we will see parallel after parallel to Jesus' life and work. Let this shadow of Christ's work bring greater confidence and absurdness to you of what Jesus really has done for you and to you!

There is a natural intrigue to discovering our heritage and identity. Cites like ancestry.com have exploded in business because people can finally answer long standing questions like, "who really am I?" This quest for discovery of our true identity is great and shouldn't stop with our physical heritage. What about who we really are at our spiritual core? Today, we'll see that who we are is hidden in Jacob's 12 sons. As we discover the mystery hidden here in God's history, we are discvoering who we truly are now in Christ.

Abraham is a picture of faith then the cutting away of our inner and outerman. Isaac is a picture of the death of our old man and resurrection of the new. Rebekah is a picture of our union/marriage to Jesus. Jacob and Esau are a picture of the outer man serving the inner man as we receive revelation of who we truly are within. How does the outer man come to serve the inner man? 1. By seeing that “GOD IS IN THIS PLACE EVEN IF WE DID NOT KNOW IT!” 2. By looking within and seeing what really lies beneath the flesh in the new man. As we see what we really are, it will bear forth. 3. By knowing our true identity and worth and dependency upon Jesus.

If you've gone to church much at all or not ever at all, you've likely heard the phrase, "walk by faith and not by sight." For Christians, this really is the basis of our daily journey. However, have we ever really stopped to consider what it looks like to "walk by faith & not by sight?" There's a mystery in God's history! Jesus said so! If we read the Old Testament simply as a history of a certain group of people (Israel), then we miss the mystery of finding Jesus and his finished work hidden on every page, in every event, in every day life. Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Hagar, & Ishmael are all true historical people, but in them is hidden a mystery of Christ and His bride--the Church. From their lives, we can see what living in dependency upon Jesus really looks like on a daily basis!

There's a mystery hidden in God's history! As we see the mystery of Jesus' finished work unveiled from the events of the Old Testament, our faith is deepened, strengthened, and established. There are so many things to see in Abraham's offering of Isaac. We take time to point out three: 1. Walking by faith is living by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. 2. Walking by faith is seeing that God did what He stopped Abraham from doing. 3. Walking by faith is seeing that it wasn’t just Jesus who died and rose. We died and rose with Him.
